Fun show for a silly game series. There's nothin "sacred" about the original source material, so I don't get the offense. The writing is about just as dorky as the original, presenting the youngest version of Dante we've seen thus far. The animation quality varies immensely.
Personally find it better than tomb raider and better than the middle seasons of the original castlevania show... seriously, the smug world weary monologues were so insufferable across far too many episodes. Nocturne keeps a better balance in comparison.
@liathach everything you said about streaming is correct, but console streaming works on any device really. I didn't mean a bulky pc handheld but a tablet/phone/handheld with an arm processor. They have long battery life and can emulate almost anything up to Nintendo switch and even some pc games. I can stream playstation, but also pc, Luna, Xbox, GeForce now, netflix etc. If the controller breaks I can just get a new telescopic controller, and believe me dualsenses do break and drift. I do get the appeal of the simplicity of the portal, and I wouldn't want to play astro bot on anything else but a dualsense, but an android based device is just as easy and way more versatile.
Expand it to browser and mobile apps. Portal just isn't a good investment. Pay somewhat more and you can get a device with a top of the line snapdragon chip that can perform natively and stream. PlayStation is holding plus premium features hostage on their own devices.
Thanks for pointing out that this is from the Devs behind Ruiner. That was quite the overlooked gem, and that's coming from someone who doesn't care for games with an isometric view.
Oh my, gamers just live off of outrage rather than taking things levelheaded. Retail prices, as I've expected, are already showing signs of not conforming to msrp here in Europe. The new donkey Kong f.e. going for 50€ instead of 80€. See link
Perspective is also important. Pre-Euro days (late 90s) PS1 games were about 50€ and N64 70€ and that isn't even taking inflation into account. So actually I'm paying about the same but oftentimes less for games these days.
Definitely a better choice. A focused three act plot and theme to go with. As a TV show they'd probably just stretch the entire goody two shoe plot to a drag.
Sony has already pushed the price to 80€... digitally. AC shadows, monster hunter, death stranding 2, mgs delta... All 80€ on PSN. You're acting like this is some new crazy scheme Nintendo came up with. I'm not happy about these prices, but I'll always vote with my wallet as these are luxury purchases and not necessities. Physical retail only at max. 60€ if I really want it at launch and support the studio, otherwise 2nd hand at max. 50€. Digital only if it's under 10€ or DLC.
Acting like victims here is just stupid... get worked up and oppose oligarchs and fascists instead.
@Nalim As I said in a previous comment, if you look around you can buy these games 10€ cheaper (sometime 20€ if you're lucky). Capcom Games usually go down in price very quick as they often overproduce. And I've also never seen a base game cost 90€ msrp. Only seen it with past launch games, but that was due to greedy retailers, not msrp. I'm sure we'll see switch 2 games move around 50-60€ physically very soon.
@DonJorginho Listen, I'm not riding some narrative. Why should I? New ps5 games cost 79.99€ here in Europe, I'm not pulling these numbers out of my a**. Here some current example:
@__Seraph @DonJorginho @Nalim Launch title games are always ways overpriced. It's not a Nintendo thing. Ps5 launch games had exorbitant prices as well and now commonly 60-80€ at release, also digitally 80+ which is a joke. Big Switch titles however can usually be purchased for 45-60€ at release. The so called "Nintendo Tax" isn't real. And don't say Nintendo games are worth less quality wise or not "real games".
Currently playing Xenoblade X and it's technically very impressive. When I sit on my couch about 2 m away from my 65" screen it looks crisp and it's basically instantaneous loadtimes for a huge open world. The camera pans through at incredible speed reminding me of the Spiderman m.2 SSD tech demo. Monolith soft are wizards in their craftsmanship.
And all that running off of an old arm chip that would be starting junior high if it'd go to school.
That being said Nintendo proves that flashy tech specs don't matter. Fun, convenience and accessibility is king. The switch 2 will most likely be an instant purchase with no hesitation.
rdr2, while being impressive was such a drag that just pissed on my time.
Short games (< 10 hours) are, if they're good, highly replayable by default, even without additional post game incentives. I will often return for mgs, uncharted, resident evil, shenmue, sly cooper, silent hill and the likes. These games all respected ones time.
These days consumers feel ripped off for regular priced games under 40-60 hours, and yet complain that they can't finish the backlog that is stacking in the empty void inside of them.
@PuppetMaster really? I thought sengoku was the most used and generally around the bukumatsu events. I can't think of many video games during meiji and taisho period except Sakura wars on the top of my head.
While I don't fully agree I see some truth in what he's saying. At least that goes for young kids that play with what the parent makes available and unfortunately often unsupervised, which are usually crap mobile games. And since kids want to play what their mates are playing it creates a momentum for crap games, that proper games can only dream of.
My boy grew up playing mostly mario games on the switch, but since his mates talk about mostly Minecraft, Roblox and a few other meh looking mobile games, that's what he talks about now. Barely ever touches the switch and plays Minecraft with every opportunity on a console. Not gonna let him go unchecked on a phone or tablet however. Too many kids get stuck on that nonsense.
Why not just do something like The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. So rare to see a mature animated feature film get such a wide release. I'm sure more people will show up for Zelda if promoted well enough.
Unlike tlou, I can't get enough Uncharted. Wouldn't mind more Nadine and Chloe, great duo. If tlou then I'd wish for a complete change of setting and characters, like South America, Europe or Africa.
"Indeed, many western onlookers had taken these snapshot moments to mean that Japan really wasn't keen on the open world RPG."
Something the weebs who spent so much time here "defending Japan" should take to heart. The silver lining however, all their arguments were comedic gold. Sure had a good laugh.
@KillerBoy should be the case, but in this day and age the weirdest people are out and about slandering the work of others for the silliest of reasons.
An another note however... someone who actually should be pulled through the dirt in every way possible. A certain individual who owns a social media platform and runs a bogus government division with no mandate, just started a silly debate with the PR division of Ubisoft, and that certain someone seems to be on the loosing end of the discussion 😂 We live in the dumbest timeline.
Most likely a bad case of confirmation bias, but this headline is music to my ears.
To some of the counterarguments, western devs ≠ western Devs. Especially US based Devs earn more because of exorbitant costs of living as well as lack of social systems and job security thanks to union busting. Some laminated cu** face may call it government efficiency... it's clearly bs. Back to gaming, Japan had a freeze on inflation for a long time now which has just recently been lifted, so you can't compare the wages between top Cali based studio and Japan. They also have federal worker protection laws where you would rather see a CEO taking a reduced salary before mass lay offs. It's not perfect, but by far better than what the US has in place.
@Fighting_Game_Loser haha, so true. Dumb plastic collector gimmicks they always add. Art books and soundtracks preferred and can be stored more easily.
I'm sure this would have caused a much bigger sh**storm if ubi or ea were the publisher, despite the fact that their games (while buggy) are on the disc.
As things go with download requirements, disc rot etc, the only true preservation will be GOG, abandonware sites, emulation, piracy and big NAS HDDs/SSDs that back eachother up.
@Zuljaras oh, I was thinking about the pc/steam Capcom releases. But playstation discs that don't run without internet? Hmm, don't know of any cases. I played outlaws and that worked fine without internet, which surprised me after all the fuss. Though most do want to play it patched.
Star Wars Outlaws is a masterpiece in open world game design and also technically quite the marvel. To be fair, I played it about 2 months after release. Felt a little bad that after enjoying it so much and ubi didn't get any money since it was second hand, but then I happily purchased the DLC which has also been good.
Studios that fly someone back in for a body scan while they could have just plastered his mutt on any template character model shouldn't complain about exploding dev costs. Will they add a few thousand to give that weird fanboy a "HIM" shirt as well!?

I find this game has the most fun villain duo (unfortunately forgot what they're called... something Kraut I assume)
Re: Poll: Are You Planning to Buy Bungie's Marathon?
Bungie just evolving from a looter shooter to extraction shooter shows that they can merely chase trends rather than just do their own thing.
It's as exiting of a evolution as a grape turning into a raisin...
Re: Marathon a 'Premium', Paid for Game on PS5, But It's Not $70
So basic. I'd wait for a cheap steam key. The game doesn't look like it's worth more than that.

Here some current example:
https://amzn.eu/d/70sJe9Z
https://amzn.eu/d/fA7uxXY
A bit of bargain hunting could get it 10€ cheaper at launch, but 80€ is standard fair, and the euro is currently higher than the dollar.
Xenoblade X for example
https://amzn.eu/d/3FM7ME6
Just saying that console launch games have traditionally been inflated, and that it usually calms down over time.
