There's a remake of the original Splinter Cell game in development at Ubisoft, but almost four years after its reveal, who knows if you'll ever actually get to play it. So, instead, how about a Splinter Cell anime?
Still determined to have Sam Fisher appear in anything but a new game, Ubisoft (alongside Sun Creature and Fost) has produced an animated TV series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, and it debuts on Netflix from 14th October. Catch the new official trailer above.
Here's the story setup:
An adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise, Deathwatch focuses on Sam Fisher as he is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks his help.
Derek Kolstad, who most notably created the John Wick film saga, has served as the head writer and executive producer on the project. In the directing roles are Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daâge.
Splinter Cell is only the latest video game IP to be adapted for Netflix, with Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk 2077, Devil May Cry, and Assassin's Creed either having already received the treatment or will do so in the future. Will you watch Splinter Cell: Deathwatch? Let us know in the comments below.

Cool they put Sean Connery in an anime
Jokes aside, I could see this being pretty neat
We're gonna get a Splinter Cell crossover in AC Shadows before we get another game. Green eyes, but blue balls.
No no no and no, stick to games please
I dont understand why games like Splinter Cell PS2 Trilogy hasn't been ported to PS Plus Premium. Throw in Prince of Persia as well.
I wish more publishers including Sony would add more. It's just so slow at growing then there will be a mini cluster of games and then it drops off again
If happily play the old splinter cell games if they just allowed you to customise the controls. I have the originals on PS2 and they look ok but the controls are hard work
Is anything Tom Clancy still culturally relevant?!
@tameshiyaku Rainbow Six Siege is still huge.
Chris is going to get so tilted over this on sacred symbols ahahaha
Fu... the anime! We want a game motherf.... hahahahaha
Animes did wonders for cyberpunk and dmc sales. Maybe if enough interest or views it'll entice them to make another or remake chaos theory...with mercs vs spies.
Can we not have both
@B-I-G-DEVIL "It's just so slow at growing then there will be a mini cluster of games and then it drops off again"
According to interview with Shu and Sony emulation team back in 2015, the reason why it's quite slow was PS2 games are quite hard to emulate. So they took their time for Q&A.
Then adding + testing trophies alone could take one to three months depending on the game.
On top of that, they must wait for the licensing process which i believe it also took months.
This is the link if you want to check the interview

I could have sworn that a Splinter Cell remake was announced years ago.
Man the character just isn't the same without Michael Ironside's voice.
I would watch this day one if it had Michael Ironside voicing Sam. Will wait to see how it is now though before watching.
It’s sooooooooooo satisfying typing in ‘Ubisoft’ into YouTube and seeing tons and countless videos of their downfall and how they’re finished, simply a shell of their former self. It’s soooooo satisfying knowing I’m not alone with this opinion of Ubisoft.
@wildcat_kickz true, but that's on gameplay alone. Remove the TC branding and the series would still sell.
@PuppetMaster this was the old ps2 emulator they are using a different process now. Stuff like licensing etc will delay it but we are three years in now to Premium and ten years since then. There should be better progress.
There has been very few PS2 games in particular. In the first year there wasnt a single new PS2 game added.
It was the old PS2 to PS4 games at launch of Premium as they called them with no PS5 version.
Off top of my head I dont think Ubisoft have emulated any of their classic games.
I dont know the ins and outs of it all but I feel it would be a very small team to bring the game over. Its not like remasters or building new game. Stuff like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Rayman etc would surely interest people. Especially for publisher who has struggled for years it just looks like easy opportunity dont taken.
It's better than NOTHING, but we still want a game thanks.
@tameshiyaku Yeah, but that would be true for just about every good game. The fact that Siege is a great game is keeping Tom Clancy relevant. This isn't even to mention that The Division 2 is still going strong.
@wildcat_kickz yeah, good that they still keep going strong despite all the f2p competition.
I enjoyed r6 and splinter cell myself back in the PS2, PS3 era, though never for it's plot though.
@tameshiyaku I'd love if they took a more direct approach in adapting a Tom Clancy novel into a game.
@wildcat_kickz some of the jack Ryan adaptations were pretty good. Generally the genre seems to be more aimed at men over 50.
