Even if you're not convinced and lukewarm about this matter, don't you care that corporations can just change something to your disadvantage at any moment without any repercussions for themselves?

In Japan, Nintendo or square enix just need a strong release somewhere around GTA 6's release date and it'll barely make the top 3 I believe. Would be very pleasing to see. Japan still has a descent gaming culture as the Switch will be the only viable console from here on out.

Some fans will always have a 1:1 adaptation fantasy, that ends up being a monkey paw wish, when the result is a cheap looking cosplay show.

I wished they'd really remake the games, not like delta but actually rework gameplay and dialogue. I'm a huge mgs fan and still find that the gameplay and dialogue hasn't aged as well as some die hards would want you to believe. After death stranding 2 I don't think Kojima would remake his game 1:1. He's still somewhat overindulgent, but he did learn some new tricks.

@Oram77 you really think capcom is just porting their games to switch 2 as a side hustle? Nintendo (and PC) numbers matter more than playstation numbers, not just in Japan but everywhere.
Playstation just made itself more irrelevant rather than future proofing.

Naturally Americuuhh will go with the laziest option which displays the highest levels of unreflected, unbridled consumerism, what else did we expect.

The rest of the world is slowly following that trend, but it's not quite there yet. As an American living in Europe I still see a strong physical market and people who care about consumer rights.

@twitchtvpat as said, I'm enjoying myself as well, just with an attention of where I'm putting my money and that is wherever consumer rights and ownership aren't trampled on such as psplus. I never minded having a subscription as an addition to physical games, but now it's just not agreeable.

Psplus shouldn't exist for anyone who actually wishes Sony to make a course correction. The only way they learn. Until then I don't care what they put on their service. Enough in my physical backlog and on other platforms to play anyways.

Psi-ops is one of my favourite PS2 era games. Technically it was way ahead of it's time and just really fun to play.

I guess I'll play it via armsx2 or of hardware, since I'm not going to renew my psplus until there is a course correction concerning physicals.

@LifeGirl I didn't start with it myself, but I assume the tabletop RPG origin has a lot of meat to it. There are also comics and other media to expand. Game wise we just have to wait and let them cook.

Sega games are amazing. I've pre-ordered the collectors edition of stranger than heaven for the vinyl alone. Virtua fighter crossroads is looking like it could blow every other fighter out of the water.

If Sony were smart they would have announced a hybrid mobile/home console first and justify the move to all digital to lighten the blow, but they aren't even good at faking to make choices for the medium. But no, Sony is so detached CEO, flat out stupid and short sighted.

Now they got me so pissed that the only way I'll ever buy a Sony game again is if they would make switch-like cartridges or modern umd's for the mobile ps6, but that's not happening anyways, so I'm off to Nintendo, gog and alternative platforms.

Thanks to all you digital only tools and the entire gta6 sheep that just made Sony feel justified in their move.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Even if it would be made in Japan I can't see this working. The game works because it's has the space to be told over 80+ hours and you connect to the characters that way. The animes could barely capture the same feeling.

@Northern_munkey VGP has built a customer base as a solid provider of niche import games. The stuff that you can't pick up at Walmart. They'll do just fine as long as people see value in physical games.

Why do gamers, especially in the west, get exploited? Because they're exploitable schmucks! The steam machine selling out at that price, buying games for 70/80$€, pre-ordering digital or things which are not in limited stock, spending thousands on Disney world,... yet scoffing about paying taxes for a social system, consumer rights and regulations in the private sector.

VGP is amazing and has been my go-to for a while now, despite not even being on the same continent.

My hope is that Asia region might get a true physical edition eventually. I mean, come on, how greedy is Rockstar that they'll just sell you a code in a box. Nintendo with their game key cards sound generous in comparison.
