He's a talented guy for sure, but 16 was the biggest disappointment, even for someone who doesn't mind action RPGs. It was almost as shallow as a mobile game.
Not shoving down anybody's throat? Sure, but them not providing the necessary tools to make it accessible for ps plus premium members is a real sticking point. Having it only on the home console makes it very redundant except for demoing a game, and I'm not getting a portal. They need to finally release an android and iOS app as well as browser support, but they don't. The streaming quality is great, but my suspicion is that they don't have the infrastructure in place for more users.
Dragon age looks very tacky but I'll put it way in the back of my backlog in the case that I get stranded on an island where for some reason I have a playstation setup... so never
I'll just say it straight, sites like this who gave it a 7 indirectly killed the game (and many other games). Not because of ill intent or that it's a bad score, but "readers" can't think for themselves and have an odd fixation on scores. Gaming media should stop giving scores so that simpletons who think anything under 9 is a bad game can finally read context and make a actual researched decision if they'll like something or not.
God Hand being the prime example.
What I'd love most would be a implementation of a dynamic nemesis system like in shadow of Mordor across various dojos which are non-lethal and sometimes escalate into fatal duels. Also a dynamic reputation amongst bandits would be neat. Advancing through your interactions with swordsmen and schools is a better way to believably level up rather than the usual open world collectothons.
After watching castlevania nocturne I was wondering how another attempt at making a 3d castlevania would be. This time however instead of making a devil may cry style hacknslash make it more Arkham/Metroid Prime (duh)/Bloodborne.
Otherwise my biggest wish is still a remake of MSX Metal Gear 1&2, you know... the ones that actually need a remake!
My goodness, time for people to get worked up to get a gamer cred boost or whatever it is they're out for. It's a ridiculous way to brag in an indirect way. Almost all games have difficulty options, since the existence of games. Same goes for the soulsborne crowd, but at least there you don't have the settings. Still you can put certain restrictions on yourself to tweak difficulty.
I do love 3rd party resellers for steam and Nintendo keys. Sony really should be held accountable for limiting market options. But in the end, only physical games will ensure a certain level of ownership. And yes, I'm aware of a few online requirement games or games that are so incomplete on disc that they need patches... so no need to point that out. Doesn't change the fact that you own something physically that you can resell.
@AhmadSumadi couldn't have said it better. People rather run by their damn Reddit and X fuelled narrative rather than actually having an honest opinion. I get it that many Ubisoft things felt samey, that's why I haven't played a single assassin's creed since the Ezio trilogy, but they've put in the effort to turn things around as of late.
It's like those salty bullies that would keep bashing on no man's sky or cyberpunk devs way after reparations were made with the twisted "they lied to us" narrative.
Do those gamers handle real life interactions the same way, holding on to petty grudges instead of looking forward and just having fun? Especially having fun on its own merits without the approval of whatever online bubble they move in.
I have the PS2 and PSP original games at home, so emulation for me. I'm onboard for remakes however.
I do hope Amazon's eventual show will cover these games and not just lazily skip to the ones everybody knows now.
PS4 pro was great value and a consumer friendly product. Ps5pro is a premeditated middle finger to their install base that could be taken straight from the apple playbook.
Unfortunate situation Nagoshi and his team find themselves in thanks to unbridled capitalist greed.
However, the success of this game (if it turns out good) is not determined yet. If the gaming community puts in good word of mouth, paired with some viral marketing, this can be turned into a success story.
I don't believe good sales require a huge advertising budget anymore, these aren't the pre-internet days where ads would make it or break it. Look at all these oddities on steam, or success stories like balatro.
I wish them all the best and will stay updated on this game.
This show never made it in my home country, but it looks like something I would have loved. The game looks amazing though I hope the increase the movement speed.
Interesting article, but I found three important points were missing from the discussion:
1. Risk: reduced costs reduces the risk, giving AA Publishers/Devs more possibilities for
2. Experimentation: since you don't have to cater to the biggest crowd you can become weird and niche, which however requires
3. Exposure: having great AA games swim in the mess of psn shovelware while the tripleA titles float above with huge banners sets them up for failure. AAA will always take front and center due to budget but you could create a better space through rules and curation.
For me gaming will always be predominantly Japanese, but I'm happy to have South Korea and China mixing things up. I hope south Korean Devs can move away from making all their protagonists, male and female, look so damn perfect however.
Eh, why ps5 exclusive, don't the like money? I can get behind batman beyond. Maybe if they choose for a stylised low detail cartoon look over the high fidelity graphics of the Arkham games they can focus on gameplay and perhaps still ship a game within this console generation.
Of course I'd prefer a beautiful world like in Arkham knights. Game still looks better than many current releases. But that would probably be in 2030.
From comments on push square it's obvious that there are quite a few that only deem exclusive AAA games worthy of any attention, so yeah... that mindset is harmful for the entire industry.
@REALAIS though I'm fine reading I get your point. Especially looking back at Yakuza 6 where everything was voiced, having things revert back to lots of text boxes was a real downer on production value.
Oops, wanted to quote a line from tropic thunder, pointing to the fact that the a story should not get too ridiculous in order for people to still care about it, but could have figured that the original wording wasn't suitable, my bad.
@Rich33 sorry to hear that it makes you ill. Playing Goldeneye with frames dropping in the single digit range, and playing on low spec PCs for most of my life perhaps made me immune to low frame rates.
@ATaco yeah, it would be great if Sony would handle digital games similar as steam or even better gog. Personally that's why I stick with physical and often second hand, especially with big studio titles and unfinished launch titles. Smaller niche titles that need the support I prefer to buy new in order to support. If it's not up to speed I can still sell it for the same amount. Generally speaking I have a good feel what kind of games are up my alley and which aren't, even when reviews are mixed.
@PushSquareUser yes, I enjoy games that don't have perfect review scores if they're a genre/niche I enjoy. Why shouldn't I? At least I make my own opinion about them by trying them, rather than just going by internet hearsay.
@breakneck @NeonTiger same, I love the game, but the discourse is beyond ridiculous. The game is still well accessible and in good quality for those who want to play it (yes, 30 FPS is well playable) and there are plenty of soulsborne likes that can hold a cup to it. Also, it's not a story that screams for a sequel either if anybody is out for that.
@PushSquareUser Not sure if hating something is worth being proud of, but you do you.
Must say, after ignoring all things Ubisoft since AC Ezio trilogy and far cry blood dragon, I've been finding more appreciation for Ubisoft with Star Wars outlaws, the new prince of Persia and Mario/Rabbids sparks of hope. Really solid single player experiences that don't follow the ubi formula and show no nefarious business practices. Can't say they're not trying to change for the better.
@CreepingShadow uhm, nobody got it for free as you did need to have a playstation plus subscription to receive it. Just because someone gets games via a paid subscription service doesn't mean they should be seen as freeloaders.

@scoobdoo haha, so true. The hoyo games are actually quite good, even without paying a single cent.
FF16 was a drunk retelling of game of thrones.

Suikoden for sure! Do love couch coop, but split fiction looks more cringey than it takes two already was, so a definite wait for a plus release.
