Disappointment As Tekken 3 Is the Latest PS1 Classic to Launch without Trophies 1

For whatever reason, Bandai Namco does not want Sony to add Trophies to its emulated PS1 games.

While most of the platform holder’s own classic games have been updated to add in gongs – either at launch or later – Bandai Namco’s selection of re-releases remain Trophy-less.

And unfortunately, the highly anticipated Tekken 3 is no different.

While it’s great to have the fighting game classic restored in a more accessible format on PS5 and PS4 – complete with save states and rewind – the package lacks Trophies like its predecessor Tekken 2 and the various PS1 Ridge Racer games.

We’re not entirely sure why Bandai Namco is so against this; we assume all of the hard work is handled by Sony and the emulation studio it’s working with, and it would add value for consumers.

Of course, we know previously released titles have been updated with Trophies before, so all hope is not lost here. There is a possibility, no matter how small, that Tekken 3 could be updated with digital trinkets in the future.

Let’s hope so, eh?
