Power Saver is a new performance profile added to the PS5 as part of its memorably named 25.06-12.00.00 update on 17th September, 2025.
While it can be selected in the console's settings, it also needs to be individually supported by games in order to work.
On this page, we're going to explain a little more about the Power Saver profile, and also list all of the PS5 games which currently support it.
Which PS5 Games Support Power Saver?

There are currently 5 PS5 games with Power Saver support.
They are:

- Days Gone Remastered PS5
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach PS5
- Death Stranding Director's Cut PS5
- Demon's Souls PS5
- Ghost of Yotei PS5
What Is Power Saver for PS5?
Power Saver mode is a performance profile for PS5 designed to reduce overall power consumption while playing supported games.

It achieves this by enabling a scaled-back performance profile in any of the aforementioned supported software, reducing their image quality or overall frame rate.
This means the games will look worse overall, although early testing shows that enabling Power Saver can reduce electricity consumption by more than 50% on a base PS5 console.
How Do You Enable Power Saver on PS5?
Power Saver can be enabled within the PS5's system settings by completing the following steps:
- Select System > Settings
- Select Power Saver > Power Saver for Games
- Select Use Power Saver and whichever games you want to use the feature with
To see if Power Saver is supported, an icon will appear next to the name of any compatible games you have installed.
Similarly, when enabled, an icon will appear on the interface overlay in any supported game when you press the PlayStation button.
How Much Electricity Can Be Saved Using Power Saver on PS5?
It depends on the game, but early tests on a base PS5 show a reduction of up to 50% when the Power Saver feature is enabled.
Demon's Souls, for example, requires around ~230W when running at full speed. But with its Power Saver profile enabled, this drops to around ~90W.
Do you use Power Saver mode on PS5? Why did you decide to enable it, and which games are you using it for? Cut down your carbon footprint in the comments section below.

Oh Yotei also? Wasn’t mentioned in one of the patchnotes if I’m right.
@get2sammyb is loving the Hoyoverse games!
This seems like one of the most pointless features imaginable. I could see the benefit for this sort of thing on a handheld, lower power would mean better battery life which can be very important, but on a home console, I didn't buy a PS5 Pro to limit the power it uses just to save a miniscule amount of money on my power bill.
If that was really such a big deal to me I would probably just use a different device, like sticking to a Switch 2 in dock mode. Home consoles are already very power efficient compared to gaming PC's, and in a world where we have massive bitcoin farms and AI sucking down more power than most cities, I can't feel guilty about how much power my game console uses.
I can see it being useful if a lot of games do it. For instance there's so many JRPGs that are graphically low and could run the same in the low power mode. It'd be worth switching for those
Sorry, of no use to me. I can see absolutely no reason to scale games back on a technical front - I want higher fps, higher res, not lower, hence why I own a Pro.
These consoles are very power efficient anyway - the price difference is miniscule (UK), and there are far better ways to save electricity.
@JayJ if it's such a pointless feature why write an essay about it when you don't have to turn it on lmao
Hmm, when my financial situation becomes so dire that I would even consider this, i think ill just sell PS5 alltogether.
Cool feature tho, im sure it looks good with the green fanatics.
...early tests on a base PS5 show a reduction of up to 50% when the Power Saver feature is enabled...
I'm a little confused, @get2sammyb; if it's up to 50%, then why is Demon Souls showing a reduction of 68%..? 🤔
I suspect this is for PS6 handheld when it’s released, running games in lower resolutions and wattage, but having a proven record of running on current PS5 hardware.
I know this is likely a feature meant fro the coming handheld, but I don't understand why this is an available feature on PS5. Running in power saver mode, how much is it going to affect your power bill each month? For me, if I play ONLY those games and ONLY on power saver mode, it'll save me about $15 per month given the amount of time I play.
This is what happens when global government ESG practices enters your hobby space.
@Andy22385 No, that's not how it works. The power saving profile is going to impact how the game looks or runs.
@MrHabushi not necessarily if the game leaves lots of headroom in the normal power mode.
@Ludacritz so the option to save some power is a bad thing if I understand you correctly?
Not sure why people are moaning about this so much. Just don't use it if you don't want to. Some people might find it useful.
@tameshiyaku The entire point of the mode is to sacrifice performance and/or visual quality in order to save a bit of energy. If developers are able to implement efficiencies without any impact to performance, they don't need a power saving mode to do it.
I'd like to use Power Saving mode to extend the lifespan of my PS5 as much as possible. I'm not too concerned about FPS or resolution. (A bit of OCD)
I have Ghost of Yotei and Power Saving mode enabled, but I don't see the game listed, nor do I see the logo indicating it's supported. Both the game and my console are fully updated. Any ideas?
@tameshiyaku I'm not saying it's bad. I do think it's a tad ridiculous. Limiting power on your PlayStation isn't helping the planet. It's pure virtue signalling as a part of the Paris Climate Accord.
@MrHabushi no it isnt. Hence me saying low graphical games. Ive just finished playing everybodys golf, a game that looks like it could run on a PS3. That would have no differences low power mode or normal mode.
@Andy22385 actually any game can consume less power. Even if it is just adjusting the level of detail, resolution, render distance, refresh rate, etc, it can be done. Even for Everybodys Golf.
Look at any game that runs on lets say a Steam Deck. Running at between 3-15 watts, if you compare what the game looks like on that vs on PS5, you will see the differences. Even for Everybodys Golf.
For people it is for. Let's say you have kids + energy bills have gone up + it is the end of the month before pay day. It wouldn't hurt to save some pennies and help the engineers at Sony test their low power functionality for the PS6 portable.
@JayJ
The running theory is that they are rolling this out to be compatible with the rumored Portal 2 along with the PS6
@Ludacritz yeah, shallow virtue signalling sucks, but that usually comes from corporations who use it mostly as PR gags, though in this case I think it's more about prepping for portable hardware.
However, government regulation in the EU has led to some consumer and environmentally friendly decisions, like usb c Standard, changeable batteries, right to repair and required updates and product support for 5 years starting at production end. These are just a few positive EU laws that come to mind.
@MrHabushi I can run a low spec game on a PC, lower the TDP and keep Res and framerate the same until a certain point.
Of course that won't work on a AAA game that fires on all cylinders but as the other user said, simple games shouldn't show an impact, but that's up to Devs on console, unlike users tweaking these things on PC.
@ProfessorNiggle yes I know, my point was some games are so weak graphically that they wouldnt have to change their visual details to run on the PS5, even in low power mode.
i mean are people really having this hard of a time paying their electric bill? and if this is an option can we get a power increase option?
@Papasears1982 that’s where the pro comes in 😂
@Andy22385 yea. Weak or not, we can always push lower
A 140 watt difference is substantial especially for longer play times
@ProfessorNiggle Two small paragraphs are an essay to you? How did you get through school?
@JayJ by writing exams and essays on things that actually mattered. Not about using a power saving function that is optional.
@ProfessorNiggle that wasn't an essay. It's called having a discussion. The whole point of the comments section.
@JohntheRaptor it was a pointless comment. Simple. Move on. Thanks
@tameshiyaku Lowering power consumption without affecting performance can be achieved by optimising the game though, it doesn't require an additional mode and that's why it won't help in those cases. The only reason this mode exists is so Sony can claim lower power usage figures or comply with some sort of regulation or compliance target, if they wanted to save energy across the entire user base they'd mandate that all developers implement measures to save energy when their games are idle, or on pause menus by reducing framerates or pausing game engine activity etc. Some games already do this but it should be far more common than it currently is.
@MrHabushi I dont know why youve replied to me yesterday then replied to me again today without me saying anything 😂 the point is they dont because the PS5 runs at a certain W usage no matter the game or how its optimised.. As it stands a game that could run on a PS2 would use the full wattage of the PS5 of up to 200w even though it doesnt need it. Now it could potentially use just 90w and run exactly the same as if it used the full power.
@Andy22385 nevermind him, I've been trying to explain it, but he's caught up in trying to be right. Couldn't care less.
@tameshiyaku I genuinely dont even get his argument it doesnt make any sense 😂 optimising the game does nothing. It still uses the PS5s full wattage no matter how they optimise it
@ProfessorNiggle yea would love a power increase option on my pro push even more (b ' ' )b
@Andy22385 Apologies for that, a glitch with my email notifications made me think you'd replied since, my fault for not reading it properly.
Nonetheless, both you and tameshiyaku seem to be misunderstanding how the PS5 works; it doesn't use maximum power all the time. Sony's own data demonstrates that a PS4 game will use less power than a PS5 one when run on the same console, and similarly changing between quality and performance modes often also results in different power consumption figures. Power Saver will only save power where a developer chooses to implement a mode which reduces performance and visuals accordingly.
I'll let Sony themselves have the final word on the matter:
"You can turn on power saver for supported PS5 games, **allowing performance to scale back as needed**, reducing power consumption."
@MrHabushi but it doesnt run at 90w. Thats the main point. Gamed could run at this wattage and run exactly the same as they do now. Yes Sonys word is correct, some games will scale back performance to run at 90w. But some won't need to scale back performance to do that, thats the point
@ProfessorNiggle You got ratio'd pretty hard here. The world doesn't need to revolve around you. Get over yourself.
@JayJ I got ratio'd??? Oh no 😱😱. My life has come to an end!..
Can you imagine being JayJ and writing essays about power saving features that you don't have to turn on and ratioing people. I bet he's so cool!
@ProfessorNiggle Bruh, you have written more in this comments section than I have lol.
@JayJ at least I haven’t written essays about power saving features that I don’t have to turn on. I’ve got 1 up on you. I guess I haven’t gotten over myself yet.
@ProfessorNiggle Whatever dude, just leave me out of your antisocial issues please.
@JayJ yes, how very antisocial of me to comment about a pointless comment you made 🫡
@ProfessorNiggle Plenty of people didn't think it was pointless. The world doesn't need to revolve around you.
@JayJ dude let it go. You got some likes, people agreed with you. I didn’t. That doesn’t mean I’m gonna suddenly agree with you just because others did. I’m past making jokey comments going back and forth with you and I’m worrying for your wellbeing now. Let’s move on 👍🏾
