@SMJ the vita didn't set the world on fire, but it did outsell the N64, GameCube and naturally the Dreamcast in Japan. The vita era were the days analysts were sure mobile games would completely kill traditional video games. As we see now they coexist with interest in handhelds steadily growing.
I got armoured core for 15β¬ physical and a fair amount of these titles for the same price or cheaper on disc. Digital is seldomly a good deal unless it's under 10β¬.
I'm confident Sony can position themselves competitively in Japan if the do not fracture the hardware market. Make it a handheld console with an included TV dock. No handheld machine and console as separate devices with mixed compatibility. One handheld one dock, one library.
You can rant and harass about AI all day, but if people don't step up where it matters, you're just barking at people using tools for a job in a system that always demands more for less. So where should we point the outrage... We as people have to shake up the big corporations, billionaires and their political enablers, because in their hands these tools are being weaponized against humanity!
The best performance award was so crowded this year, she also really deserved it. 2025 has really been an outstanding year in games and silent hill f is amongst the top.
ππ I was trying to discuss narrative issues this series has had historically, which the new games are leaning back on, but this has practically turned into a Sidney Sweeney jeans ad discussion. Imagine what, I have that opinion about old TR and still love stellar blade, nier and yes tomb raider. There's more between loving or hating something, but that is unfathomable for many.
@nessisonett yeah survival was a bit of a weak attempt to appease these narrative issues, while also creating some new ones in the process. Despite that they were fantastic games. I wouldn't say they removed her sexuality just by making her more grounded and her confidence was in development over the three games.
@DennisReynolds just cause you don't notice or disagree doesn't make it drivel. Not saying it's a deal-breaker and people shouldn't boycott it or nonsense like that. It looks like fun games. However, the reboot was more self aware of the tone deafness of the original character and tried to address it and now they're steering back.
Oh man Activision/Blizzard/Microsoft/Bethesda... so creatively broke. What a sad conglomerate of American blandness. For me it's the equivalent of mayo potato salad.
The games will probably be fun, but what a backstep in character design. The reboot had it's flaws, especially the side characters were oftentimes annoying, but classic Lara is problematic with her blatant arrogance and colonialist background which the original games never questioned but rather made to her superpower. I guess the current overall climate is once again more permissive of that.
@themightyant agree, it just doesn't mesh. Might as well have no anime aspect about it if you don't go all in. There's this other anime style RPG racer called resistor that looks way more cohesive, but it's gotten awfully quiet around it.
I'm glad they're making these kind of games, despite my old grouchy self getting instantly annoyed by these kids. I think that shepherd dog game with no people in sight is more for me.
@nessisonett nah, have read plenty likewise comments online, not you personally. Was hoping for a full on remake or a new installment, but the remaster isn't a catastrophe either, like many make it out to be.
"The atmosphere is completely destroyed!"... typical fanboy exaggeration.
The crybabies have a tantrum, so let's shove that pacifier in them and put tablet in the stroller for a dose of cocomelon.
Another punching bag for toxic gamers. Everyone is just one misstep away from getting the full outrage of keyboard warriors that rather engage in so called "controversies" rather than video games. A bad launch, unfortunate as it is, does not justify that amount of unconstructive bashing, dehumanisation and threats. I'm glad cdpr turned this narrative around and came out stronger, but nowadays we see this story repeating on a daily basis.
I like what they're going for. The animations are still very stiff and need to be more situative in transitions. Gameplay needs to be figured out, because enemies and interactions were very clearly just placed where they were for this gameplay trailer and not for actual gameplay purposes. We'll see, but it's got the potential to be like an Avatar game we never got.
There's not much fan fare for this anyways, and people can wait for reviews. If anybody just pre-orders stuff blindly and it turns out to be a dud only have themselves to blame.
Despite looking like it being made by Unreal assets and ai, the trailer had a fun A or AA charm to it, but I'm not holding my breath.
Binary Domain was a shift to something else and it was brilliant. Sure, I'm all in on Yakuza/LaD, but having range is fine too.
What RGG has pandered to however is making things more ridiculous for viral memes sake. I skipped pirate yakuza cause if that. Yakuza is best when it's first a heartfelt crime soap opera, and second a silly romp.
If Atlus/Sega officially state that Metaphor won't get an extended rerelease I'll be buying it in an instant. Just be upfront.
It's less a matter of money but time. If I'm going to invest 60+ hours into a game, I want the entire experience, because I'll never have the time to do it again.
Man, I really don't care for Fortnite and pop culture crossovers, but I might be checking this one out. Love kill bill and am still waiting for Nikki's revenge.
I find this kind of whining discourse rather toothless... We've been eating great when it comes to games, be it sequel or not. It's like the pointless "super hero fatigue" or "star wars fatigue" discussion. Yes, not every release was a banger, but these people will rather cherry pick to uphold their narrative than admit that we got some very good stuff over the years as well.
Yes, Sony should pursue more low-mid range productions that can take on risks and don't take forever to make like naughty dogs next game, but all that doesn't take away from the greatness from these sequels. Half sequels like miles morales and lost legacy are also great to iterate while using current tech.
Ok, that means a tech hiatus for the foreseeable future for me as I'll just make the most use out of what I have. Was planning for the steam machine, but that'll depend heavily on the price now.
OpenAI screwed the world over with seemingly zero legal repercussions... yay for late capitalism!
Sheesh, the situation is dire, far beyond gaming. That's a situation that could have been circumvented with government oversight instead of an unregulated free market. People rather taking corporate regulation over government regulation baffle me. It's the kind of people that play cyberpunk and think "yeah, that's the kind of world I want to be in" instead of seeing a cautionary tale.
People bash on Amy these days for not releasing a game for years, but at the same time, she and her team managed to release 3 great games in a single generation, and that with hardware that was a pain to work with. They've had x86 dev kits for years and no new game since last of us 2. Usually I'm like, take your time and do it right, but this is just embarrassing.

Ok, that is some quality TV in his rΓ©sumΓ©. Especially Shogun is top tier. My only beef is that we don't start with greek mythology. While the PS2 graphics have aged well, a visually stunning retelling would be more needed than the Norse duology.
