Re: 'One of the Worst Decisions Ever Made': God of War Creator Tears 'Total Crap' 2D Title Apart

@KeldorTheCursed @Dom_31 @Chaotic_Goat @DennisReynolds @Krlozgod He critiques a game, perhaps harshly, but does that allow many of you to call him all the things you do? So many don't even take a moment to think and just spread hate. He's got an opinion about a game for goodness sakes, leave your pitchforks at home.

From where I stand I think 10-15€ would have been more fitting, looking at indie gems that are similarly priced. The scenario (boy kratos) doesn't look like something very inspired, but I'm glad to be proven wrong.

Re: Honkai: Star Rail's Humongous Sequel-Sized PS5 Update Embraces Otaku Culture

@McBurn it's cashing in on both ends. Kids with loads of time who are trained on the idea that games are free and you pay for this or that pretty skin or what not as one business model and a recap retail release for traditional gamers with limited time as another business model.
They could only win from it because they're not loosing those kids who expect things to be "free", and selling existing property to a different kind of audience.

@get2sammyb @McBurn Agree with McBurn. If a good live service game finishes a few seasons, they should take it, rework it to have regular RPG progression without the grindy mtx economy and sell it as a 50-70€ game. That'll be 50-70€ more profit they'd have made off of me than through their life service.

It's really a compliment to the worlds and characters that hoyo has established over the years and a great way for newcomers to catch up without it feeling so daunting. It's also a good way then to get new players on the current live service season.

Re: Yakuza Kiwami 3's Dodgy Visuals Will Be Fixed in a Launch Day Patch

@Stepan during the PS2 days I was rather put off by yakuza's fighting system after coming from shenmue's weighty, virtua fighter inspired fighting. The fighting of early Yakuza Games just felt very impactless and you'd often just finish fighting animations into empty space despite positioning Kiryu in the right direction. The games have improved on that over time. They often add ridiculously acrobatic fighting styles, but as long as you can choose I find it's ok as long as the moves feel impactful.

Re: Yakuza Kiwami 3's Dodgy Visuals Will Be Fixed in a Launch Day Patch

@Stepan just tried the switch 2 demo and I'm currently slugging through pirate yakuza. The battle system of y3k definitely has more weight to it and the animations of y3k are so much better. The lighting is also really good on the switch2 version.
Pirate yakuza has this extremely ugly contrast and oversaturation, independent of HDR. Bottom line and I'm sorry to say... pirate yakuza is absolute trash on all regards! Gameplay, story and visuals. The best compliment I could give would be that it would make a pretty PS3 game.

Kiwami 3 is shaping up to be a great release, despite the internet trying to manufacture issues.

Re: Larian CEO Swen Vincke Sticks His Foot in It Again, Thinks Game Reviewers Should Also Be Reviewed

tameshiyaku

Actual reviewers, differ as you may, aren't really the problem, but rather user-reviews that are misused to review-bomb, extort and harass.
Accounts that regularly review in extremes should either just be deleted or only allowed to score +/- 2 from an average 5 in order to force them to something their thinking sorely lacks... nuance. Maybe we'll then get more useful opinions rather than mean spirited agendas.

Re: PS1 Classic Rayman Looks Set for 30th Anniversary Release on PS5

tameshiyaku

Sorry Rayman, your birthday's cancelled. Your business daddy is broke.

Though seriously, ubsoft has delivered very solid single player games with star wars outlaws and AC shadows, but the online trolls really killed them off. All reports on bugs were super hyperbolic.
I really hope they get out of this pickle, but there's a group of online ghouls and their entourage who just have a perverse pleasure in watching and actively assisting things to fail.

Re: Yakuza Fan Concerns Come to a Head Over Dodgy Kiwami 3 Graphics

tameshiyaku

@Stepan and now you got a new breed of "Yakuza purists" who complain about any minor differences to the original as well. I don't see any point in that except the insufferable imagination that these complaints make them sound like refined gamers. Push square and others are also always just fishing for unwarranted outrage.

Re: Yakuza Fan Concerns Come to a Head Over Dodgy Kiwami 3 Graphics

tameshiyaku

This is Spiderman puddle level of nitpicking. Admittedly, going on these screenshots the lighting is off, but watching side by side video comparisons over a longer period, the remake is definitely better looking. And yes, Yakuza has always reused assets, but that is how they managed to tell their amazing story in a efficient, cost effective way. But yeah, if you want to hate by default then I guess you can lay that out negatively.

Also these sidelining Ichiban blames are beyond ridiculous. His last game just released 2024! Judgment is troublesome, but that's buyers fault for not showing up despite it being great. Generally dumb internet meme culture is to blame that we got pirate yakuza. When that was announced y'all sung a different tune, praising it's craziness.

Lastly, ai accusations are also just taken from thin air.

Yakuza has un/fortunately reached the level of popularity where it's become cool to slam it. Gamer internet discourse is just the worst.

Re: Big Yakuza Kiwami 3 Demo Beats Down PS5 Tomorrow

tameshiyaku

Looking forward to this in order to wash the bad taste of pirate yakuza away. Even considering it's tongue in cheek premise, that "game" is a serious downgrade in writing, pacing, animations, character design etc.
The psp games and feudal Japan games worked as spin-offs, pirates however, sheesh.

All the tough guys who don't need this sorta thing.
On the other hand, anyone can "git gud" if they're single, no responsibilities and preferably live in their parents basement.

This is mostly to bypass difficulty spikes if you don't want to spend the few hours you might have repeating an area over and over again, and then turn it back to normal.

So yeah, stop embarrassing yourselves with your gamer pride.
