Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for February 2025?

tameshiyaku

Opening was meh with cheesy farez game, wrestling, fnaf and borderlands4... but them the show picked up.

Yeah, it didn't have a long awaited sequel, remake etc newly announced, we already are served there with onimusha and mgsdelta, but it rather had a bunch of brand new games, so that's good!

People with first party only obsession just demand to be sour by default.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Enjoying a 'Fantastic' Launch on Steam

tameshiyaku

@breakneck the guys at digital foundry are great, but I'll never base a game purchasing decision purely on a technical analysis.

Also, the gaming community really loves to pick and choose who to bash in unequal fashion. Remember the outrage the low Res doors in ff7 remake received? In the meanwhile black myth wukong has entire Forrest foliage made of huge green triangles and mountain passes that look like from the PS2 era and nobody says a thing. I'm fine with that, I had a blast with wukong despite that, but gamers and the media clearly pick their darlings and their punching bags.

Re: Sony Issues DMCA Takedown Against Bloodborne 60FPS Mod, Four Years After Release

tameshiyaku

People should calm down about Bloodborne. It's great, I played the hell out of it, including the dlc, but the internet has made it a neverending obsession. From software is mostly making the same type of game with only slightly different settings. Beyond that there's no lack of great soulsborne games from other studios. I for one since then had more enjoyment with wukong, lies of p and the likes.
And it's not like the PS4 version is unplayable or inaccessible. Move on and be patient.

Re: PS3's Most Bizarre Game Will Have Its Own TV Show

tameshiyaku

Looking back to when people were like "wrap up movie industry, David Cage games are the next big thing"... no... Fahrenheit, heavy rain and BTS as movies would be surefire razzie winners.

It's like David Cage specialized on making grand misguided auteur cinema like Copolla's Megalopolis, without having deserved the reputation of doing so.

Re: Sony's Stocks Fly As Market Responds to New Corporate Hierarchy

@get2sammyb "To be fair, through the history of time, games have always ended up getting cancelled."

Sure, but when a entire batch of GaS games get cancelled, some of which are attached to big IPs, it does make you question leadership.

If I burn one or two pancakes... so what. If I serve an entire plate of charcoal I probably wouldn't get a soft demotion.

Re: Legendary 'Father of Final Fantasy' Returns to Make One Last Game

tameshiyaku

@PuppetMaster thanks, that's an interesting insight. Though I do wonder having beef with then TriStar Colombia now Sony pictures and dealing with SIE should be two different pair of shoes one would think. I for one was very impressed with the spirits within as I watched it in the cinema. Not sure if it holds up. I also want to try fantasian if it gets a physical release.

Re: Silent Hill 2 Has Been Massively Successful on PS5, PC

tameshiyaku

I'm very happy for team bloober. Many commenters here and generally online were super toxic and discouraging, but they pushed through and delivered. I hope people here take a lesson on not to prematurely pass judgment and even when doubtful give others the benefit of the doubt and be supportive.

There were even some corners in the internet claiming that their toxic bashing is what spurred bloober to achieve their success. Next to cringing I just hope such people never run a company, go into politics or raise children.

Re: Hermen Hulst No Longer PlayStation Co-CEO, Still in Charge of First-Party

tameshiyaku

For now I think that'll make little difference, but I'm hopeful that Sony will move more and more into a direction like Nintendo. Nicolas Doucet and the wonderful team asobi should paint a direction of where Sony is going and generally remain under Japanese control. 3rd party partnerships like sega, square-enix and Capcom need to be bolstered and their first party studios should be making the games they believe to be right.

Re: PS Productions Plotting a Resident Evil Movie Reboot

tameshiyaku

@ricerictwice to be fair, John Wick had a ridiculous story and world from the very beginning. The sequels didn't make it worse, they just underlined how silly the plot is at its core. Didn't understand why they even made a continental series, as if the world building was so intriguing... No, I just want to see Keanu do crazy action scenes.
Perhaps a better comparison would be Rambo. First blood was a serious movie about a vet traumatized by war... the sequels however we're just dumb fun.

Re: Fans Are Buying Fewer Boxed Video Games Than Ever in the US

tameshiyaku

@nomither6 you say psplus is a scam service? What makes you think that? Is netflix a scam?
Anyways, unless you buy digital games from GOG you're just getting a licence to play, not actual ownership, so yeah, theoretically you can loose access to all of your digital games. You're argument with Sony putting out a firmware update to revoke access to specific physical games is also quite outlandish.

Lastly, just because I own something digitally, doesn't mean I couldn't be able to sell it again. F.e. there's a market for skins, cosmetics, etc... Not being able to handle digital games however is an active choice by companies because they want to kill a 2nd hand market.

Re: Fans Are Buying Fewer Boxed Video Games Than Ever in the US

tameshiyaku

@nomither6 your point being? name me 5 examples that aren't online requirement, live service or plain multiplayer. So no the crew, mag and similar stuff that for obvious reasons are games that can be locked. Or better yet, tell me how you'd sell your digital games without giving up an entire account.

Re: Fans Are Buying Fewer Boxed Video Games Than Ever in the US

tameshiyaku

USA ain't the world. If you check play-asia, most games that are digital only in western regions are still being produced physical, so that does signal different consumer behaviours in different regions.

As for the US, of course a majority willingly give up their consumer rights for convenience, just as a majority would give up their civil rights for ignorance.

Re: PS Productions Plotting a Resident Evil Movie Reboot

tameshiyaku

The first Anderson RE movie is a guilty pleasure, but the only goodwill he still has in my books is Event Horizon, love that movie.
The netflix series had an intriguing mystery and great effects... if only the show wouldn't be called resident evil.
Racoon City had a nice John Carpenter vibe going, but blew the characters unfortunately. Also should have just tried to adapt RE1 rather than mixing 1&2.

Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Goes Full Black Flag with Insane Naval Combat Gameplay

tameshiyaku

@MikeOrator I've previously commented on this, that as a huge Yakuza fan who loves the blend of earnest drama with mad humour, I feel RGG is purely trying to bank on the memeability and social media buzz by putting the camp front and center in pirate Yakuza. To the uninitiated it would appear Yakuza/LaD is just that, which is sad because personally I wouldn't have stuck with the series to this point if it were just a collection of Japanese campiness. Of course I'll play this game too, but I'm not nearly as excited as for any past entry or the upcoming project century.
