Averaging 7/10 is still a good game, but perhaps low for the pedigree and expectations around insomniac. I've put this one on the back burner and get it on the first physical sale. Enough to play at the moment and with everything happening Sony needs a reality check.

I think Sony completely lost it with the latest news that they pulled the plug on Kojimas physint which will now be produced by Xbox. It's not like they truly gave up their live service phantasy either.

@asdfghjklz yes, a sequel would be dead in it's tracks. However, nowadays people are looking for games like this. If Yakuza, danganronpa, persona, trails of series, Nier and many other could move into the mainstream, I think Shenmue could find new fans if reintroduced. I'd also change up the style, but keep the essence of what made Shenmue so memorable.

Next to new games I would really appreciate a new Valkyria Chronicles and a reboot of Shenmue. In today's gaming climate, with people being more open to niche Japanese experiences, Shenmue could really build a new fan base if the reboot is done right. Shenmue will wilt and die if we continue clambering to shenmue 4.

@DarianStarfrog @AhmadSumadi admittedly, manipulative media outlets and bas players on social media don't let a day pass without some artificial outrage that'll engage gullible gamers both on the left and right side if the worldviews. From differently shaded puddles, character representation, supposed drama during production,... a so called "controversy" for each taste.

However, please don't confuse this noise with the current outcry for OUR consumer rights in an increasingly digital world, because this'll affect everyone eventually, both physical and digital consumers. So rather than Sony loyalists just being annoyed that people are speaking up, everyone should actually stop and think what the actual issues are that are worth speaking up for.

Dawnwalker has to wait as it looks like a game that's worth playing after 6-12 months of updates. By then I'll have played crimson dawn which belongs in the same category.

Poll wise I agree, this was lame. When will Sony finally understand that any live stream event is meant to surprise us with new stuff rather than just oversaturate us with things we know are coming. No game needs more than 1-2 trailers and no announcements prior to 6 months.

Also deserve all the crap in the world for remaining silent on discs while making those two silly employees awkwardly grin and hand gesture their way through this mess.

I'll be getting this eventually, but why build a game like this in UE5. I would rather have less fidelity and have it run steady, preferably on the switch 2 on the go.

@darylb24 most discs, while being unpatched are fully playable off the disc and it's not so common that a game releases in a cyberpunk 2007 state.

@Dodoo I wanted to mention China and Korea, but at the same time they're flooding the scene with gotchas and live service games. Some of them are also pretty impressive for what they are, but also partially problematic. Korea often too glossy abd China has been going crazy on two syllable wuxia games that look very samey, with a few standouts like black myth and phantom blade.

Japan though has been mostly consistent with classic gaming, meaning for 60€$ you get a full game with beginning and end and very little monetisation on the side.

Japanese games are keeping this gen alive imo.

@XenonKnight pc/steam has always been digital. users know what they get, but they've set it up in a mostly user friendly way for better or worse. Imagine they'd say they're going physical only.

Consoles have a different tradition and they are plug and play. Physical media still makes sense, despite it's decline that hasn't been as dramatic worldwide as compared to the US.

In the end this is a playstation site, if Sony is pulling s**t, they should be called out. It's about what Sony is doing wrong, not the competition. I'm not going to enter some brand tribalism nonsense and lobby for any corporation. I'm speaking as someone who is very passionate about Playstation and always preferred console (esp. PlayStation). Why should anybody defend a brand, as corporations don't pay you or anybody for it.

I was very content on my switch 2 and android pc emulation this week and while I'll eventually turn on the PS5 for onimusha, I'll go offline immediately after the day 1 update and leave it that way.

Horizon games are good but I couldn't help to feel indifferent about anything going on story wise. I guess it's a testament to it's solid gameplay mechanics. I think compelling characters just aren't guerillas strong suit.

Not holding my breath of seeing Sony do the right thing. The only way I see Sony eating some humble pie is with a massive 2011 scale network breach. Something that really shakes players faith in a digital only future. Not a silly, self serving gta6 leak, but something that'll break them on the stock market.

As much as I love Shenmue, Shenmue needs fresh blood meaning a new fan base, which it will never get with a shenmue 4&5.
I'd reimagine a shenmue reboot in a cel shaded 80s anime look (like orbital) paired with a citypop soundtrack and aesthetic. I know fanboys would scoff at the idea, but that mentality will keep the series where it has been for ages, obscure limbo.

This was definitely my favourite telltale game, but I remember the studio spreading itself too thin.

I wouldn't instantly go into righteous gamer outrage mode here. This 2nd showing of dlss5 is far better and more in line with the original graphics. Of course they should dial down the make-up, but Spiderman, control and the actual final fantasy footage (not that hilarious fake cloud photo that keeps popping up) are mostly in line. Sorry for not getting on the purist bandwagon here.

If you treat silent hill as a type of horror rather than a place it needs to connect to narratively I think it's fine. Silent hill f really blew me away and a great example of branching out, while some fanboys were complaining that it doesn't connect to the town. I think that approach would be too restrictive and would burn out players eventually. Konami is on fire at the moment.

@guacguacboo dunno, both are great RPGs. Sea of stars just had so much heart and great parry gameplay, while chained echoes delivered on the political intrigue and had a unique upgrade system. It's like picking a favourite child. Both are better suited on a handheld however.

This is no apology, and nobody asked for one. This is just virtue signaling by waving around the humble mantle of victimhood. The hacker by no means is a righteous crusader for physical enthusiasts, but these big companies like take two and Sony should be wary of their customers rather than bulldozing over them as they're currently doing. Of course it's hard to get there seeing how gamers are mostly complicit when it comes to damaging themselves in the long run. I bet these folks also are proud about not voting.

I wished they'd just re-release these games after a few seasons as abridged single player experiences to catch you up if you get into it later. Lot's of these look cool and I'd be willing to pay for the game, just the entire open endedness makes it feel daunting to start it in the first place.

It was pretty good, though the musical interlude was very trashy, and not the fun kinda trashy like shows American story which looked great.

Don't know what people were expecting really. I like Geoff, but the co-host was very cringy.
