The dub is good, people are just not used to British English in Japanese games or anime, but thinking about it, it's a better fit for the feudal setting. I noticed the same reactions towards the Xenoblade Chronicles games, especially 2 which had a bunch of Welsh and Irish V.O.s which was so cool, but people equated it to bad dubbing, which really wasn't the case.
Personally find German to Dub Japanese really well because they've got honorifics.
@LazyDaisy I sure hope so, but as of late hardware prices just feel stagnant. We've been accustomed to having the older generation of hardware become cheaper and the new generation take the olds original price (range). Nowadays the old gen remains the same price and the follow-up just ends up more expensive. We've seen it with the switch 1, phones, pc handhelds, graphic cards, etc.
Of course the whole tariff situation, post COVID, war, etc comes to play too. However I feel many industries just use these factors as an excuse to experiment and see where consumers "breaking point" is, and in that regard I feel many overzealous consumers have failed to send companies a clear message that there's a limit and replaced it with a fry "shut up and take my money" meme.
So hyped for this. The only right way to play it though is at 30fps with some film like filters to make it truly cinematic. The fast frame rate kills the vibe. I'll keep 60fps for the multiplayer.
@nessisonett Yakuza 3 is amazing. The Okinawa setting is my favourite and it's got some of the best humour without being outlandish like lad and pirate yakuza games, that merely do it for meme culture.
Personally was hoping for a kenzan remake or an anime spin off like fist of the north star. I think Lone Wolf and cub or JoJo's bizarre adventure would be great fits for studio rgg.
What's up with people demanding the voice actors portraying the same character live action!? I mean sure, nothing against Tom Holland, but he was a meh choice for uncharted, but picking voice actors just for voice parity is even worse.
My fantasy casting director draft would be Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. He was a great Dr. Manhattan in the HBO Watchmen.
@wildcat_kickz yeah, good that they still keep going strong despite all the f2p competition. I enjoyed r6 and splinter cell myself back in the PS2, PS3 era, though never for it's plot though.
Every single player game should have cheats. I don't have the time to get overly deep in the mechanics of every game or repeatedly play something if I hit a roadblock. Generally don't want roadblocks that ultimately keep me from finishing some games. FF7 was easy on normal difficulty and I had no problems finishing it, but it would suck for someone to get stuck on the story because of difficulty. For that cheats are completely legitimate, so hats off to Square-Enix for implementing it.
Beyond Yakuza, my most beloved sega series seem to be some of the most struggling ones, like Shenmue, Sakura Wars (that reboot, damn that was great), and most of all Valkyria Chronicles. VC deserves so much better!
@Whyarewestillhere hope so, but if they're going fully chronological there'd still be portable ops (doubt they'll revisit that), peace walker and mgsV first. I think a remaster of mgsV would suffice, as long as they change that you could do multiple ops on the ground without always having to fly in and out. That's a lot of material before we get to the games that need to be retold..
I also think Konami would probably prioritise mgs1 for popularity sake.
@Whyarewestillhere Absolutely agree, if any game needs the full remake treatment it's the original msx metal gears. To see these moments play out, fully realized has been a long time dream of mine, ever since playing those two games with mgs3 subsistence on the PS2.
@nomither6 nah, you're good. Though check out some classic anime if you ever feel up to it, might change your mind. Just have to sift through all the high school, isekai, harem garbage out there.
Looks like a good mashup of all single player action adventures of the last 15 years, but I've seen prettier PS4 games albeit at a lower resolution/framrate than this. It has this boring plastic clean look the insomniac spiderman games have.
I'm really happy that the Japanese greats: Sega, Konami, Capcom, Square-Enix, koei-tecmo, bandai-namco and Nintendo of course, are all growing stronger and making the games that make it worth being a gamer.
I don't quite get these download only discs and Nintendo's game key cards.
Wouldn't avoiding physical players having to download massive files spare them some burden on their servers? Expanding the infrastructure and maintaining it doesn't come cheap either. It's not a "one and done" expense.
I thought the sub was directed towards Kojima: stop being a baby and try mgs delta when it releases!
The man loves the smell of his own farts. If he'd make a movie the way he makes games they'd be unwatchable.
Mgs1 was the only truly cinematic game he made, and while the plots were still enjoyable until peace walker (and parts of mgsV) he's just become way to pretentious with his "auteur" status.
I truly hope someone picks up the series, reboots it and does away with the cringe exposition, fan service etc. Unhealthy fanboys will be outraged and act like it's sacrilege, but to hell with it! The base plot of mgs is too cool to sleep on it while pretending that only his majesty Kojima can do something great with it.
Kojima started out as Francis Ford Copolla, Apocalypse Now, Godfather but has turned into Megalopolis over the last 10-15 years.
Saw the trailer and knew it'll be fire, and I don't even care about kpop. It's an all-round good family movie. Kids really generate lots of streams. They can watch/listen to stuff on an endless loop. Dunno how often I already heard soda pop 😵💫
Don't understand why the industry seldomly announces new stuff at Gamescom. Same goes for tgs, but at least they get some cool Japanese niche announcements.
Give the man certain restraints and an editor and he can do great things. Unbridled creative and financial freedom hasn't led to him making better games.
@ShogunRok how is any of that social media buzz and negativity representative truth? It's the opposite of truth in this attention economy! No truth would get "burried" by leaving these attention seekers out of the loop. Just keeping proper reviewers and classic word of mouth by people who have no agenda would unmuddy the waters.
This site is no better however. Alone the title, that late reviews is a "red flag" is extremely misleading and sets a negative narrative, where the comment section can do the rest of the work. Next article... Pick a random tweet how someone has experienced a crash, enough for Pushsquare to write an article how "users" have a problems and the games a buggy mess.
Nintendolife manages to write neutral articles for the most part, time extension actually do research and write quality articles, but pushsquare is on bloody tabloid level.
Personally think this is a good approach to performance. Having too much (mostly unnecessary) headroom just leads to lots of unoptimized games that either could just run because of the uneconomical setup, or still chug along despite the horsepower. I'd rather see a mobile only, with a egpu powered dock, but if the software runs on both handheld and console while being reasonably priced is also ok.
C'mon! Can't tell me you're not even the slightest bit curious. But that feels on point with so many creatives who are "above" the art they make. At the same time, saying and doing are two different things.

@Oram77 the lack of optimization wasn't my point. But yeah, it absolutely sucks to have a device that isn't properly supported!

Re: Rumour: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut Coming to PS5 This Year After Stint of Switch 2 Exclusivity
Probably didn't sell well due to the whole game key card issue. I'll definitely add it to my collection if it's on the ps5 disc.

Every pro owner punished the rest of the user base by letting Sony know they can get away with such prices. We'll all feel that when the PS6 releases.

@wildcat_kickz some of the jack Ryan adaptations were pretty good. Generally the genre seems to be more aimed at men over 50.

@wildcat_kickz true, but that's on gameplay alone. Remove the TC branding and the series would still sell.

Is anything Tom Clancy still culturally relevant?!

@Lowdefal have to agree with you. It's a case of white otakus "protecting" Japanese culture once again, though nobody asked.

I thought they already canned it as they should have. Both old school cocky Lara Croft and goody two shoes Jonah are insufferable.

Perhaps the trailer was just edited in this loud fashion. I do hope the movie has more of a sombre feel to it.
