Re: Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection (PS5) - An Almost Flawless Victory for Fighting Game Fans

tameshiyaku

@DennisReynolds the only "3D gameplay" games were deadly alliance, deception (as in Tekken style) and special forces and shaolin monks as spin offs.

MK9,X, 11 and MK1 are in that sense also 2D gameplay, and should be in this Collection if 2D gameplay were the determining factor.

I would of just done a clear break between everything considered retro (which PS2 is by now, arguably also PS3) and MK9 which was a reboot of the series.

Re: 'Our Biggest Competition Isn't Another Console': Xbox Doubles Down on Multiformat After Halo PS5 Shock

tameshiyaku

@Questionable_Duck I'm aware it's not the main cause, there were a bunch of factors, but I do believe that image was stuck and they only got rid of it recently thanks to game pass and indies.

However, as a RPG player I knew already with the PS3 that I'll be eating better at Sony and later down the line on PS4 and switch, while Microsoft still prioritised an American mainstream market.
Since they fumbled the xbone so badly, some casuals have crossed over to Sony and Nintendo, but also just lost many into other diversions like f2p, twitch, gambling etc. It's not like Sony swallowed up that entire market share.

Sure, actual media and art like proper video games, movies, books and music are all competing with social media trash and AI slop, but that's not why Xbox failed.

Xbox fostered a culture of toxic bro gamer that isn't invested in the medium, but rather just dabbles in the "normal" stuff like sports games and military shooter while neglecting the experiences unique to consoles. A broad user base jumped ship at the next distraction like phone games, insta, tik tok, crypto, fantasy sports, maga, etc... while gamers interested in the variety and niche are well fed on other platforms.
However, that's just one point on top of a bunch of poor decisions made by reality detached CEOs.

Re: PS5 Pro Is Definitely Not the Best Place to Play The Outer Worlds 2 at Launch

tameshiyaku

Said it before and will say it again. Uncritical and mindless ps5pro buyers will be the reason why we'll get to pay premium for ps6. Sony will know that it'll get away with unreasonable price hikes.
That's why I don't feel one bit sorry that you're not getting your money's worth. Power and performance is not what makes a console good, but ya fanboys won't get it in your thick skulls.

Re: All PS5 Games with Power Saver Support

tameshiyaku

@MrHabushi I can run a low spec game on a PC, lower the TDP and keep Res and framerate the same until a certain point.
Of course that won't work on a AAA game that fires on all cylinders but as the other user said, simple games shouldn't show an impact, but that's up to Devs on console, unlike users tweaking these things on PC.

Re: All PS5 Games with Power Saver Support

@Ludacritz yeah, shallow virtue signalling sucks, but that usually comes from corporations who use it mostly as PR gags, though in this case I think it's more about prepping for portable hardware.

However, government regulation in the EU has led to some consumer and environmentally friendly decisions, like usb c Standard, changeable batteries, right to repair and required updates and product support for 5 years starting at production end. These are just a few positive EU laws that come to mind.

Re: 'Even I Can't Tell the Difference': Shuhei Yoshida Thinks PS6 Needs Something Other Than Just More Power

tameshiyaku

Shuhei's got a good point. Why is any innovation that isn't base gaming performance considered a gimmick!? It's all about the implementation. That's why the ps6 should just be a single handheld device with a dock.
Maybe the true innovation is bringing in all current device functionality into a single device:

  • Portal: PS6 is a handheld
  • Home console: Egpu dock for handheld
  • VR/AR: detach controllers and put the display into an optional affordable headset. Works wireless or over cable.

Re: Here's How Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Holds Up on the $1,000 ROG Xbox Ally X

tameshiyaku

@belmont it's a question of mass adoption. The gaming market is brute forcing graphics on PCs with unoptimized games, where so much unused power hungry performance is not properly used. Consoles are more elegant with a closed system that doesn't need to be scaled. But Arm can seriously be the future, perhaps even paired with beefy GPUs if one really needs all that performance when stationary. There has barely been a noteworthy leap within the x86 APU space as this video shows. The next step up would be that beefy amd ai max+, but that thing is too power hungry and doesn't go well with low TDPs. No, I don't want to see an apple hardware future, but open platform Arm is a good thing.

@nomither6 sure, there's always some captain obvious who looks at both and enlights us all how the switch looks like crap next to a home console or pc. But what should I say... twits.

Re: Here's How Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Holds Up on the $1,000 ROG Xbox Ally X

tameshiyaku

I don't really get the pc handheld Vs ps5 comparison. It's like comparing a vespa with a muscle car.

What is however quite telling is the miniscule difference between the 3,5 year old steam deck and a new, 1000€, big company backed handheld. The pc handheld market has just pushing prices upward, seeing what they could get away with, and it's just sick.

Another point that irks me is just how ***** the x86 (classic PC) architecture is. You got arm (android) processors running more current pc games, emulated, at passable to well playable performance at good battery runtimes. Just imagine that! The average pc handheld will get you 1-2 hours with only slightly better performance. And we're still talking early days of android pc emulation. Just go check out some emulation footage on a snapdragon 8 elite via game hub... it's a game changer.

At this point, why are we still even considering x86 for handhelds, or even console/desktops.

Re: Want More Silent Hill on PS5? You May Not Have to Wait Long

tameshiyaku

I've seldomly been so amazed by a game's story as much as with silent hill f. Maybe not the story a manosphere infected gaming community can broadly digest but a relevant one for that, despite the game playing in the 60s.
And don't get it wrong, this is a silent hill game through and through that sits comfortably next to the best of the series. Silent hill is defined by it's themes and not by it's setting.

Re: Silent Hill 2's Overdue PS5 Pro Fixes Now in Konami's Hands

tameshiyaku

On base ps5 both sh 2 and f the graphics are sharp enough to look good on a big 4k TV and the frame rate's smooth except for a short stutter while auto saving.

Don't know what everyone is on about, but the obsessive scrutiny on frames and resolution is really taking the fun out of gaming for many it seems.
