Re: What's the Latest on the Rumoured Silent Hill PS5 Project?

stinkyx

@playstation1995 I'm guessing they were gonna go 3rd person with Silent Hills, since why use Normal Reedus's likeness if you never see him? But with the success of P.T., I wouldn't be surprised if they switched gears to first person.

Personally, I'm open to either. The main thing that matters to me is that the game has a strong theme like the originals did, in terms of the game director having an overarching artistic vision and wanting to convey something about the human pathos (even the American-made games did this to a degree, IMHO). So long as it's not a focus-group and fan-service driven game made to appeal to as many people as possible, I'll be happy!

Re: EA Sports UFC 4 - A Strong Sequel That Knows What Players Want

stinkyx

Hmmm, the customization sounds fun, but the main thing I've wanted to do in these games ever since the first one in 2014 is import my face and my friends' faces into the game (via GameFace) and fight each other. This has NEVER worked...EVER, in UFC1 or UFC3, in 3 different places of residence and using 3 different computers and 4 different phones to upload face data, and wasting dozens of hours. Always had to resort to the manual customization, which never looked anything like any of us. Sounds like they dropped it altogether here, which is weeeeeak. Booooo!

Re: Epic Games Makes Fortnite V-Bucks 20% Cheaper

stinkyx

@playstation_king Dude...it's $15 to $20 for a decent skin in this game. There are $10 skins (now $8) but they're usually just generic trash. Then there are emotes/dances that are $5 to $8, and weapons and other cosmetics follow that same price. The only thing worth $8 is the Battle Pass, IMHO.

Re: Capcom Suggests Lacking Resident Evil 3 Sales Aren't All That Surprising

stinkyx

@Jayofmaya I think the dev team said they wanted to make the Nemesis encounters all scripted because they thought it was scarier than just a slow dude following you the entire game. I see where they were coming from, since Mr. X ended up being more annoying than scary, but ultimately they probably should've done a combination of both, IMHO. The fact you have unlimited saves (at least in the default difficulties) and cool-but-overpowered dodge roll doesn't help with the tension either.

Re: Capcom Suggests Lacking Resident Evil 3 Sales Aren't All That Surprising

stinkyx

@Royalblues Dude, if they remake CV (which I've never played, btw), they better not re-design Claire again, like they've been doing with Chris (although the VIllage one looks closer to RE5/RER1/RE6 than RE7's does). They should make the current faces canon and stop messing with them, lol.

CV sold less than RE3 originally, so by Capcom's logic, the remake would also sell less. Given how many new assets they'd have to make (I don't think they can reuse stuff like RE2 to RE3's remakes), it seems like an RE4 remake is more likely, from a financial risk perspective. Given the low sales of RE3 and the pandemic, I feel like they'd chase the money moreso than the fanservice right now. Personally, I just hope they keep the remakes coming!

Re: Capcom Suggests Lacking Resident Evil 3 Sales Aren't All That Surprising

stinkyx

@nessisonett I dunno...a lot of games are just 5 hours games dressed-up with filler. For me, it took over 8 hours to beat the campaign on the normal difficulty without finding everything, so it's the same as RE2 (but without the replay value of a remixed second story). Also, the multiplayer Resistance mode was complete trash at launch, but I think it's a LOT better now. I'm currently playing that and have a good 10+ hours into it. Overall, I paid $45 for it at launch and think it was worth it, from an RE fan's perspective anyway.

Of course, the biggest warning is definitely comes if you've played the original, which I did right before playing this. Personally, I think the original RE3 is INSANELY good, and it's true that the remake took out several iconic locations, enemies, and bosses. I tried to look past this, but it really ended up bothering me.

Re: Reaction: The Spotlight Is Now on PS5's Launch Lineup

stinkyx

@Sinton The good thing about owning a new console right off the bat is that you get a clean-slate for your backlog! The first year of the PS4's lifecycle, I actually thought I could beat AND platinum all of the major AAA releases. That didn't last long...

Re: Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Can Be Pre-Ordered on PS4 at UK Retailer, with September Release Date

stinkyx

@nessisonett Haven't played ME1 in a while, but I don't remember Ashley being all that racist. I mean, all the other alien races looked down on humanity (since they were the new guy), especially the Citadel Council, and so humans still had a lot to prove. I wouldn't have called it racism so much as a reaction to being marginalized. If anything, I think Cerberus is much more deserving of the label "racist" than Ashley...

Re: The Last of Us 2 Trophies Tease Grounded, Permadeath Modes

stinkyx

Permadeath for a 20-30 hour game is soooo dumb, regardless of difficulty. That means you die and your savegame gets deleted, right? Any time I've tried for a trophy like this (Witcher 2, Dead Space 2), I always die from something really stupid and then feel like a fool for wasting so much time.

Re: Resident Evil Resistance DLC Lets You Cosplay as Leon and Claire

stinkyx

I'd rather have them let all players start out with maxed-out levels and abilities for ALL characters so the game is something closer to being balanced, and then have cosmetic unlocks stay behind the grind.

That's my problem with this mode and why it's not fun at all...it doesn't matter how well you and your team play, if the mastermind is maxed-out, level-wise, you're going to lose 100% of the time. At least, that's what it's always been in my experience. Most games are just one-sided blow-outs, and it feels like a chore just to grind and grind, hoping to FINALLY have a close/fun/competitive match.

Re: Ubisoft's Hyper Scape Drops Onto PS4 Next Month

stinkyx

Can't look at a Ubisoft game without thinkin' the people who made it getting sexually abused by higher management. Not that other devs don't have blood on their hands, but...there's plenty of other things to play and feel good about.

Re: Ubisoft's Next Digital Showcase Dated for September

stinkyx

@Jacko11 As if "recycled gameplay" wasn't enough of a sales deterrent, the recent sexual misconduct stuff is just absolutely a nail in the coffin for me.

Uninstalled any Ubisoft games I had installed, blocked their emails, blocked them on social media, and don't plan on ever buying anything from them again, honestly. Good riddance.

Re: Danganronpa Games Will Be Pulled From PlayStation Store in September

stinkyx

@Matroska Yeah, good idea, especially now that I've see the closure of several online stores for "dead" consoles, it seems like physical is the way to go just in case the next step is "download the game now because we're removing it from the server!"

Of course, the next issue is that lots of games require you to be online to play or have a massive day one patch that's needed to make the game even playable.

Anyway...as for this article...LAAAAME. I haven't finished the second game, so I didn't pick up Ultra Despair Girls or 3 yet, so guess I'll have to do that soon. Too bad Vita games are never, EVER on sale these days. I've also noticed that physical versions of Vita games that were once in abundance for $10 easily online are now up to $40 or $60 so...great.

Re: Turok Trophy List Spotted, PS4 Release Likely Incoming

stinkyx

@theMEGAniggle I think there could be a good chance they can remaster Evolution, since it has a PC version they can start from (which was the case with 1 and 2).

Between the pandemic and them going all-in on System Shock remake, however, I don't think it's a priority, especially since the game isn't as highly regarded as the others. Personally, I've liked Evolution more and more as time goes by.

Re: Turok Trophy List Spotted, PS4 Release Likely Incoming

stinkyx

@theMEGAniggle Yeah, my heart almost exploded outta my chest when I saw the Turok Evolution image. But lo, it's only the remaster of Turok 1 (and probably 2), which have been out for a couple years now. Dang it!

Great remasters, although Turok 2 is waaaaay better thanks to a bunch of new features they added, namely waypoints (no more getting hopelessly lost for hours!) and a ledge grab (makes jumping soooo much easier and less stressful).

Re: Guerrilla Details New Machines in Horizon Forbidden West on PS5

stinkyx

@NomNom I was wondering where they could take the next Killzone game, and I realized there's still a TON of growth in the FPS genre, not necessarily doing things that have never been done, but having more complex AI, true destructible/interactive environments, and more experimental weapons or gadgets (i.e. an OWL drone that works even if you're not on a 100% flat surface, lol).

Killzone is near and dear to my heart, and I'd love to see another one, but at the same time, I don't blame Guerilla for wanting to do something completely new and different after all the time spent just making Killzone.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

stinkyx

@Lando_ I bought an Xbox One console several years ago, and the exact day it came in the mail, Killer Instinct (the only game I bought it for) was announced for PC. Titanfall and Gears 4 were already for PC, so at that point, I had zero reason to own an Xbox and returned it.

Nowadays, Xbox "exclusives" are released the exact same day on PC, and with crossplay on all of them, I can play with my Xbox buddy day one. It's a really, really convenient and consumer-friendly approach, honestly. Plus with Game Pass for $5 a month to have unrestricted day one access to all new first party AAA games (which often have tons of PC-tailored options and care), it's an insane value that makes me wonder how they don't go out of business. Granted, the quality of games is arguably much worse (lol), but the consumer-friendliness almost makes up for it.

I think what Sony's doing right now is a good middle-ground between exclusives protection and sharing their first party games with a wider audience.

Re: Unravel Horizon Zero Dawn's Mysteries from 7th August on PC

stinkyx

@Juanalf Nintendo also keeps their games at $60 or $40 for the entire lifetime of the game, whereas Sony's first party AAA games can be found for $30 a year later and then regularly $20 on sale, and then eventually $10 just a couple years later (see: Horizon, Uncharted, God of War). I usually feel like a criminal when I buy these games for that low of a price.

If money was the bottom line, Sony could just not drop the price of all their games so quickly. If anything this move would actually HELP sales of the PS5 by getting PC gamers excited about the new game.

Re: EVO 2020 Online Officially Cancelled Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

stinkyx

@mini_piekarnik Yeah, it's sad to read about some of this stuff, especially stuff involving minors who go to arcades or events just to play some games.

Also, that's the thing about zero tolerance: if the punishment is harsh enough, people will stop doing it! Now if only drunk driving rules weren't so lax in the States, we might stop people with 2-3 DUIs from running over kids all the time. But I digress. There's a lot of injustice in the modern "civilized" world still, and it's nice to see some people FINALLY being held accountable for their actions.

Re: Crysis Remastered Delayed Following Poor Reception to Leaks

stinkyx

@Shepherd_Tallon With Mass Effect, it started even earlier than ME3, I think. After the first game, Bioware's forums exploded with fan requests, from things like adding Garrus as a romance to axing the Mako, and Bioware made the mistake of really getting involved with what "fans want" and let that slowly drive more and more of how ME2 and ME3 played out. That's why they got so fan-service-y after the first one.

Granted, there's merit in customer feedback, but letting fans steer the ship is a big mistake, IMHO!

In this case, with Crysis...yeah, those screenshots look like crap, and apparently that was gonna be reflective of the final product, so good call for them on delaying it.

Re: Capcom Is Planning a Monster Hunter Game Aimed at Kids and Teenagers

stinkyx

Definitely a mobile gatcha game...ugh! Then again, for the past week I've been playing "Jurassic World Alive" (wanted to show someone an example of an AR game) and it's actually not so bad, namely because the PVP element actually has some strategy involved and not just "whoever has the higher level wins lol #pay2win #grind2win"

Re: Crysis Remastered Still Exists, Gameplay Trailer Coming Wednesday

stinkyx

@Blacksmith1985 If you like shooters, I definitely recommend trying out Crysis 1 if you've never played it! It's a sandbox game, which is kinda rare these days, and you can do lots of things you can't do in any other game.

You can do stuff like turn invisible and sneak up to an enemy, then grab him, activate super speed to run away while other enemies open fire on you, disappear into the jungle bushes, and then activate super strength to toss the guy you grabbed waaaaay out into the ocean off of a cliff, lol. It's ironically more like The Predator than even Predator games, IMHO!

You can also drive a car into a metal shed and jump out, then shoot the gas tank and have it blow the entire shed up, then grab a piece of the shed, activate super strength, and throw it at an enemy.

Etc. It's fun!

Re: The Last of Us 2 Petition Demands Dramatic Story Alterations

stinkyx

@Scollurio Well...whaddaya think about just having a new trilogy altogether that takes place far away from Ep7/8/9? No Skywalkers, no Palpatines...just start fresh from the ground up, Jedi vs Sith?

I personally wouldn't want Ep7/8/9 erased, since I think they have the potential to have some cool side-stories with the characters that were created (plus: my family memories, lol). If only they hadn't MADE UP THE STORY AS THEY WENT ALONG, it wouldn't have been the mess that it ended up being.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Petition Demands Dramatic Story Alterations

stinkyx

@Scollurio What? Redo Ep7/8/9? What a mess that would be, not to mention set the precedent that fans can just bully the studios around forever. If they do that, they'll probably re-boot episode 7 several times before fans like it, lol, and then just end up doing the movie version of the old expanded universe. Unless, of course, they wanna do George Lucas's "whills" idea, which as stupid/hokey as it sounds, I'm totally down for (since he's the creator of SW).
