The likes of Capcom, Bandai Namco, Arc System Works, and more are getting together for a livestream later this week. Titled 'Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable', the event kicks off on Saturday the 1st August at 1AM BST. That's 5PM PT/8PM ET on Friday the 31st July for you Americans.
It's unclear what the purpose of this livestream actually is, but a number of key figures from each publisher will appear during the show. We assume that everyone will be giving updates on their respective fighting games, and with Evo 2020's complete cancellation, some publishers might have something to announce. We wouldn't get your hopes up for anything huge, though.
Will you be tuning into this thing? Score a knockout in the comments section below.

That’s very nice and I think we are indeed getting updates on games.
The best place for fighting entertainment is right here on Push Square. Any article that mentions The Last Of Us 2 will do.
Dang, you guys even beat fighting-game website Event Hubs to the news! Gotta love PushSquare
Could get some updates, Street Fighter V still has to announce those DLC characters.
I wonder if there will be an English version of this available to watch. Either way looking forward to some fighting game news~
Here’s hoping for the new KOF reveal ^^ or anything else from SNK lol still miss some arcade archives games like Matrimelee or Rage of the Dragons to be released Garou2 would be a dream come true haha
@consolfreak1982 Hi there friend. I really want SNK to show KOFXV running on PS5. The only thing that held XIV back to the general public was the graphical departement, because the characters and gameplay are awesome.
Rage of the Dragons was so good. Not only it was an awesome Double Dragon fighting game, but you could do some crazy tag team shenanigans as well. Matrimelee was pretty cool to. That weird bride Final Boss was nutz though. And yes, Garou 2 would be a dream come true to any fighting game fan. I would also love if they could bring The Last Blade back as well. Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
@RaZieLDaNtE heya ^^ sadly i never played Rage of the Dragons or Matrimelee so im hoping they will get the Arcade Archives treatment still! Also Love Last Blade! really hyped for the next KOF I agree with what you said about the graphics of 14 but I really like them! Personally I’d love if they just return to pixel perfection like in Garou lol I loved the art style of 12+13 but nothing compares to the charming „pixel“ look of earlier episodes! Gonna spend some time with the SamSho neo geo collection that’s releasing now I’m so excited for it been waiting for a long time for this ^^
@consolfreak1982 SamSho neo geo collection is great! Have been playing it on PC and it is a blast to play. I do enjoy the new one, but there is just something special to that gorgeous pixel art that SNK mastered, especialy with Last Blade 2 and Garou. Still excited for some fighting game news even if there is no more Evo this year. Anyway have fun with the Neo Geo collection. Cheers and have a good one
Ive beena HUGE fighting game fan since street fighter 1 in arcades. I feel like fighters havent really moved forward much at all in the past couple decades. Perhaps mostly due to developers just milking their pre existing franchises and playing it safe.
Id really like to see some new IPs that truly feel and look next gen, especially from capcom as i feel everything theyve done since the old 2d days has just looked pretty low budget and seems like it was a team of newbies making the game imo. Lots of questionable and imo poor art design, animation, mechanics, presentation etc. It doesnt feel like the same capcom that ruled arcades in the day. Its kinda sad, i miss that.
Feels like back in the 90s developers took more risks and tried to innovate, probably due to lower cost of game development.
I think id be amazing if capcom had a smaller offshoot group that made simple one off, old school 2D fighters in the old capcom style. They could release a totally brand new fighter every year or 2. Each completely unrestricted by anything that came before it.
Sorry, im getting all nostalgic and ranting. Saying i want fighting game developers to move forward but also moving back lol. Contradict much lol.
I guess what im saying is id love for brand new IPs on a more regular schedule, in two categories.
1- modern high quality, very next gen fighters that take all thats been learned in the past 30 years and try to break from the mold and create some truly stunning next gen games.
And 2- brand new IP one off 2d fighters based on the hey days of classic capcom that are stripped down and simple, ie classic arcade, online, training only, no DLC.
Ugh, im rambling.. Sorry
