We love a good retro-style beat-'em-up, and Marvel Cosmic Invasion is looking like another cracker.
Developer Tribute Games, which previously brought us TMNT Shredder's Revenge, has unveiled two more playable characters in the latest trailer:
Yes, Black Panther and Cosmic Ghost Rider are now part of the roster.
Black Panther needs little introduction; the character is pretty popular thanks to the Marvel movies. He's a hero with enhanced strength and reflexes, and can draw upon the knowledge of all previous ancestors who've adopted the Black Panther persona.

Cosmic Ghost Rider is an interesting addition. The regular Ghost Rider is fairly well known, but Cosmic Ghost Rider is a different hero. They share similar abilities, but the Cosmic version is able to wield Hellfire, as well as the Power Cosmic, which seems like a fairly important plot point in this game.
The pair joins the rest of the roster, which is as follows:
- Beta Ray Bill
- Captain America
- Nova
- Phyla-Vell
- Rocket Raccoon
- She-Hulk
- Silver Surfer
- Spider-Man
- Storm
- Venom
- Wolverine
So far, 13 of the game's 15 playable characters have now been unveiled.
There's still no release date for Cosmic Invasion, but hopefully it's not too much further away. At this point, we suppose it's possible it'll wind up a 2026 title, but there's still some time left to squeeze this out before the end of the year.

It’s a decent roster, I’d like to see Noh-Varr though. Definitely 90s inspired which I’d assume is why there’s no Hulkling. Odd not to have Captain Marvel too, whether that’s Carol or Mar-Vell.
Looking good but i didn't know there's multiple version of Ghost Rider. The only one i know is Johnny Blaze.
Solid roster, though I am wondering who the last two heroes are. I too think this game will be pushed to 2026, which will make it the second game from them scheduled for that year, alongside Scott Pilgrim EX.
Good to see the roster bulked out a bit more. What makes this reveal even sweeter is my best mate animated both of those!
I really hope that ingame they have a few paragraphs of description of all of their heroes. A lot of us old timers are new to some of these characters. I read a description of Phyla-Vell a month or so ago and have no idea what it said, lol.
Hopefully there is a demo for this one. As a fan of the old mvc games, I’ve struggled to like any other marvel themed fighter. Still, I’m optimistic here, let’s hope it’s good!
Holy sh#t Cosmic Ghost Rider??? Damn that's an out there inclusion i never expected and bodes well for future reveals.
@PuppetMaster There's 3 main Riders. Blaze, Danny Ketch and Robbie Reyes. Danny's interesting in that a lot of the standard GR things like the chain came from him not Blaze. Robbie's generally the modern day Rider nowadays and was in the Midnight Suns game and Agents of Shield show. All 3 are great characters and worthy of the Ghost Rider role.
Seems a tad bit odd to say Cosmic Ghost Rider is simply another character when that character happens to be Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, who is a VERY well known character.
Frank Castle Ghost Rider is an interesting choice, I would have guessed Danny Ketch was the GR (if any) was most likely to appear. All that's missing is some proper Fantastic Four representation, roster could use another beefy brawler so I feel Ben is most likely, and a magic caster.
My gut's saying last two will be Iron Man and Kate Bishop but I really want another completely oddball one.
Your main page for this game has MvC 3 as the cover which was really confusing.
I think I will get this just to play Spiderman Venom and Wolverine
I would prefer the last two to be some more mainstream ones like Iron Man, Captain Marvel or Paul Rabin. Other popular characters like a Mary Jane skin for Venom can come as DLC.
Trolling aside I look forward to the game.
@PuppetMaster They had the 'new' ghost rider in Midnight Suns. Robbie Reys, or something... he drives a car, instead of a bike, but is essentially just a lamer version. Far as I'm aware, in terms of comic lore, there's loads of Ghost Riders, including a cowboy with a flaming horse.
Edit- realised someone already replied! Whoops!
Oh come on do a tiny bit of research, cosmic ghostrider is frank castles.
This Roster is split with some earth based fan favourites. With alot of space based gotg related characters, I predicted beta ray bill and Silver surfer. I was learning towards 2019 gotg. I could see Moondragon and Starlord. In the 2 last slots
@PuppetMaster The Ghost Rider in Marvel Tokon is the Robbie Reyes version, I believe he uses a car instead of a bike.
@DennisReynolds Ok thx for the update. I didn't follow Ghost Rider closely or even read his series so i didn't know there are different version of him.
My only knowledge about the character was when he appeared in 90's Spiderman comic fighting Spidey and Hobgoblin, i forgot which volume but i believe it was drawn by Todd McFarlene, and the live action movie.
@AdamNovice Oh so that Ghost Rider isn't Johnny Blaze. My first thought was where's his bike haha.
@PuppetMaster Well that's it, if you aren't aware of different people being Ghost Rider then it probably was confusing.
Not enough female characters. They shoulda added Jubilee or something
@AdamNovice Yeah it is confusing. The only Marvel character i followed quite closely is Spiderman and even it's still quite confusing when Marvel did the whole Clone saga with Peter is the clone and Ben Reily is the real one. But they goes oh no no no Peter is actually the real one. Then years later they did Spider Verse with all different Spiderman from multidimension and Doc Oct taken Peter body and became Spiderman.
It's one of the biggest reason why i'm quite done with following Marvel and DC comics. All the timeline, universe, reboot, different series etc are just not fun to do all these hoopla to stay update.
I'm just stick with games or movies adaptation.
@PuppetMaster With franchises getting rebooted or reimagined so many times it becomes more of a case of picking your poison.
