I know people are upset about their upgrade path and thatās fair. But honestly? If you donāt like what theyāve done donāt buy it. They did what they felt was right for them, financially. I wish it were a free upgrade and I wish season pass owners at the least got the upgrade for free. But thatās not the world we live in. So again, if you donāt like it, thatās okay. Move on. Instead a very vocal subsection of gamers get all whipped up over what essentially boils down to a SKU.
I loved the game on my Pro, and while I should have gotten the Ultimate edition on sale recently, I had to wait. Iāll be happy to buy this on sale for $20 down the line, especially as Iām not a season pass holder. Control was easily one of my favorite games of last year and I canāt wait to play the PS5 version.
That spooky pack is right up my alley. Iāve wanted to design my own dark ride since I was a kid. My only concern is the number of assets. Would I basically just be able to recreate what I see in the trailer? Thatās my question.
@Gatatog I was thinking the same thing! I wish the trophies didnāt auto-pop. Just means Iāll start from scratch, which is fine by me. Itās a linear game, itās not like a Dragon Age save or something.
@godscoper Well, Sony cares. Every major PS4 patch included new ways to try and stop save editing. They donāt want their garden walled MP environment messed up by people using cheats. Now, Iāve been using cheats since the various Game Genie, the various Game Sharks, and now the various Save Wizards. Iām bummed that on PS5 I wonāt be able to play single player games that Iāve purchased the way I choose to play them. I hope that they reverse course on this decision, which they may eventually do, according to an article I just saw on another site. Fingers crossed.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I was just making a jokeāon the first PS if you popped Ridge Racer in and let it load to the title screen, that was actually the only loading in the game. Because of this, and the fact that the gameās soundtrack songs were in normal CD format on the PS disc, you could take out Ridge Racer and put in any music CD.
The real catch though was that the game was looking for specific time stamps, not track numbers. So some CDs worked better than others as the times of the songs would match up better. Sometimes youād queue up track 3 expecting a rocking track, then the race starts and it plays the last eight seconds of the song, then you race in silence until the finish line. I had a collection of CDs that matched up well and knew what track numbers synced up the best. Gotta have your rockin tunes when youāre up against the black car!
@get2sammyb Thanks! I see that neither edition has been on sale since itās August launch, so Iām sure theyāll serve up a bargain on BF/CM. Iām keeping an eye out!
@get2sammyb Iām very, very interested in this series. Iāve never played it and am overwhelmed by the various versions of the game, expansions, and honestly I donāt know the difference between 2 and 2020. Is there a clear starting point youād recommend?
I bought the PS5 digital version which said it came with the PS4 version, but Iām not seeing āpurchasedā on the PS4 version. Hmmm. I was going to plat the PS4 version right away as I donāt know when Iāll be able to get my hands on a PS5.
@GHockey Thanks for the tip! That worked! I went through the US store and found it from there. Odd that they don't have it listed in the store proper, seems like they'd be missing out on a lot of extra money by hiding the "ultimate" edition. Well, preorder is IN! I wasn't able to get a PS5 preorder so I'll likely end up platting this game on PS4 by the time I get the PS5. Hahaha
I still find it odd that I canāt buy the ultimate version of this game (with the remastered first game) on PSN. Looks like itās only available physically. Especially weird as the physical version just comes with a voucher for a digital version of the remaster. Huh.
@Sissyrobyn996 Obviously I hope you are correct. Microsoft has given what are likely to be intentionally vague statements on the matter in regard to Bethesda exclusivity.
@__jamiie I really donāt know why people are trying to turn my comments into fanboy flame war crap. I just pointed out that M$ realized they didnāt have games, so they started buying up publishers to ensure that they do.
Iāve never owned nor will I ever own a M$ console, and Iāve bought every PlayStation within the launch window. Why people are trying to paint me into the green corner here I donāt know.
Just downloaded an 867 MB patch, version 1.03. Doesnāt seem to address performance issues.
-Fixed bug in The Burbs level that could possibly break the level Logic causing a poor player experience.
-Fixed bug in Washed Away level where the player could get stuck walking under the railroad bridge to access the dog encounter area.
-Fixed music stuttering in The Burbs level.
-Fixed combat audio phasing in Downtown and The Kommander levels.
For what itās worth Iām an hour or so in and Iāve only run into one minor issue. I thought a break in two bushes might be a path to a hidden area but I just got stuck between them. Haha. When I paused and unpaused the game I was free.
Iām really enjoying this game for what it is. Iām hoping itās not too long though. I could see it overstaying itās welcome if it passes the eight hour mark. Iād prefer five to six, honestly. Thatās not necessarily a bad thing, I think shorter indie games are ideal a good deal of the time.
Edit: Just want to reiterate that the references are a lot of fun. Return of the Loving Dead, Phantasm, Twin Peaks, even Goonies. If youāre a fan of horror, especially from the 80ās, I do think this game is worth your time.
Such a shame, considering how much time and money they had. I backed this game on Kickstarter back in 2014! Then it was picked up by adult swim games as a publisher if I recall? Anyway, Iām still looking forward to playing this whenever my copy is sent.
@TheIdleCritic Maybe? Haha Iām not sure, Iāve only ever lived in the States. Moving to the UK next year though, so maybe Iāll have to bone up. Haha
@Agricultural Joke all you want, Skyrim is one of my absolute favorite games and Iād happily pay for it again and again if they had something new to offer each time.
Built from the ground up? That implies they literally made two unique versions of the game, which obviously isnāt the case. Watching the trailers for these games I did feel they looked more like PS4.5 games, now I know why.
@Octane "It's the best script I've ever read. It's important to note that since I've mostly been in Marvel films it's actually the only script I've read, but still."
I remember when the trailer for this launched. I thought "Oh look, a cute platformer! I might grab this when it comes out uh-- is that an Uzi? Why does the monkey have to bust caps in asses?"
Such a weird juxtaposed mess. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for the pitch meeting.
Creative: "So you play as this cute tamarin--" Exec: "A what?!?" Creative: "Exactly! No one knew what an echidna was before Knuckles." Exec: "I still don't. Let's wrap this up." Creative: "A tamarin is a cute monkey. The game is a cute N64-style platformer where you save your animal kingdom or whatever from evil giant ants." Exec: "Are there guns?" Creative: "No, why would there be--" Exec: "Give the monkey an Uzi and we'll greenlight it." Creative: Sigh
The trailer itself... I mean, they were willing to swing with all their weight which I can appreciate. When you do that and you miss, you miss hard and itās embarrassing.
The game itself looks like a generic mobile game. So, two swings, two misses for me.
Toys R Us had a deal where if you traded in some Genesis or SNES games (I believe it was 10), you could get a PlayStation or a Saturn for $99. I gathered up all the games I was willing to let go of, and only had eight. They had a list of games that didnāt qualify for this, so I took that list and went to yard sales and flea markets until I found two games for less than $5 each that werenāt on the no-no list. And thatās how I got my PS. Saving up for that first memory card, now that was tough.

@Iroha They own Bethesda AND Obsidian. If those two work together on a Fallout game, yes, I believe it will be incredible.

@artemisthemp Well they now have Obsidian AND Bethesda so I have a feeling Fallout 5 is going be the best entry in the series. Weāll see!
