Re: Control Ultimate Edition Levitates to PS Store on 2nd February, Features Graphical Options

glassmusic

I know people are upset about their upgrade path and that’s fair. But honestly? If you don’t like what they’ve done don’t buy it. They did what they felt was right for them, financially. I wish it were a free upgrade and I wish season pass owners at the least got the upgrade for free. But that’s not the world we live in. So again, if you don’t like it, that’s okay. Move on. Instead a very vocal subsection of gamers get all whipped up over what essentially boils down to a SKU.

I loved the game on my Pro, and while I should have gotten the Ultimate edition on sale recently, I had to wait. I’ll be happy to buy this on sale for $20 down the line, especially as I’m not a season pass holder. Control was easily one of my favorite games of last year and I can’t wait to play the PS5 version.

Re: PS5 Doesn't Support Save Transfers via USB

@godscoper Well, Sony cares. Every major PS4 patch included new ways to try and stop save editing. They don’t want their garden walled MP environment messed up by people using cheats. Now, I’ve been using cheats since the various Game Genie, the various Game Sharks, and now the various Save Wizards. I’m bummed that on PS5 I won’t be able to play single player games that I’ve purchased the way I choose to play them. I hope that they reverse course on this decision, which they may eventually do, according to an article I just saw on another site. Fingers crossed.

Re: The Last Guardian Runs at 60FPS on PS5, But There's a Catch

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I was just making a joke—on the first PS if you popped Ridge Racer in and let it load to the title screen, that was actually the only loading in the game. Because of this, and the fact that the game’s soundtrack songs were in normal CD format on the PS disc, you could take out Ridge Racer and put in any music CD.

The real catch though was that the game was looking for specific time stamps, not track numbers. So some CDs worked better than others as the times of the songs would match up better. Sometimes you’d queue up track 3 expecting a rocking track, then the race starts and it plays the last eight seconds of the song, then you race in silence until the finish line. I had a collection of CDs that matched up well and knew what track numbers synced up the best. Gotta have your rockin tunes when you’re up against the black car!

@GHockey Thanks for the tip! That worked! I went through the US store and found it from there. Odd that they don't have it listed in the store proper, seems like they'd be missing out on a lot of extra money by hiding the "ultimate" edition. Well, preorder is IN! I wasn't able to get a PS5 preorder so I'll likely end up platting this game on PS4 by the time I get the PS5. Hahaha

@__jamiie I really don’t know why people are trying to turn my comments into fanboy flame war crap. I just pointed out that M$ realized they didn’t have games, so they started buying up publishers to ensure that they do.

I’ve never owned nor will I ever own a M$ console, and I’ve bought every PlayStation within the launch window. Why people are trying to paint me into the green corner here I don’t know.

Re: Mini Review: Ray's the Dead - A Flawed But Novel Zombie Adventure

Just downloaded an 867 MB patch, version 1.03. Doesn’t seem to address performance issues.

-Fixed bug in The Burbs level that could possibly break the level Logic causing a poor player experience.
-Fixed bug in Washed Away level where the player could get stuck walking under the railroad bridge to access the dog encounter area.
-Fixed music stuttering in The Burbs level.
-Fixed combat audio phasing in Downtown and The Kommander levels.

For what it’s worth I’m an hour or so in and I’ve only run into one minor issue. I thought a break in two bushes might be a path to a hidden area but I just got stuck between them. Haha. When I paused and unpaused the game I was free.

I’m really enjoying this game for what it is. I’m hoping it’s not too long though. I could see it overstaying it’s welcome if it passes the eight hour mark. I’d prefer five to six, honestly. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, I think shorter indie games are ideal a good deal of the time.

Edit: Just want to reiterate that the references are a lot of fun. Return of the Loving Dead, Phantasm, Twin Peaks, even Goonies. If you’re a fan of horror, especially from the 80’s, I do think this game is worth your time.

Two problems with the Impossible Whopper; they’re cooked on the same grill as the meat, and Impossible tested on animals to make its product.

I’m sure there’s a way to enter without purchase (by law there has to be) so I’ll be looking for that!

Re: Mini Review: Tamarin - Tonally Confused Monkey Business

I remember when the trailer for this launched. I thought "Oh look, a cute platformer! I might grab this when it comes out uh-- is that an Uzi? Why does the monkey have to bust caps in asses?"

Such a weird juxtaposed mess. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for the pitch meeting.

Creative: "So you play as this cute tamarin--"
Exec: "A what?!?"
Creative: "Exactly! No one knew what an echidna was before Knuckles."
Exec: "I still don't. Let's wrap this up."
Creative: "A tamarin is a cute monkey. The game is a cute N64-style platformer where you save your animal kingdom or whatever from evil giant ants."
Exec: "Are there guns?"
Creative: "No, why would there be--"
Exec: "Give the monkey an Uzi and we'll greenlight it."
Creative: Sigh

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PlayStation at Launch 25 Years Ago?

Toys R Us had a deal where if you traded in some Genesis or SNES games (I believe it was 10), you could get a PlayStation or a Saturn for $99. I gathered up all the games I was willing to let go of, and only had eight. They had a list of games that didn’t qualify for this, so I took that list and went to yard sales and flea markets until I found two games for less than $5 each that weren’t on the no-no list. And that’s how I got my PS. Saving up for that first memory card, now that was tough.
