What the hell did we just watch? This is supposed to be an announcement trailer for Chronos: Before the Ashes — a prequel to the rather enjoyable Remnant: From the Ashes — but it's so jarring and weird that we just... Don't understand. What is this?
The press release makes Chronos sound quite interesting, too. It reads: "The player takes the role of a young hero, trying to save his home from an ancient evil. To do this, a chosen one is sent to a mysterious labyrinth, full of both fearsome and mystic creatures, along with challenging puzzles. Combat is unforgiving and brutal - but in Chronos, death is not the end. Each time the hero fails, he is cast out and must wait one year to return to the labyrinth - you can try again, but one year older. When you start your journey, it's still easy to get stronger and quicker, but the older you get, the more important your wisdom about the arcane powers will become."
But this trailer... What were they thinking? Are we missing something? Is it going to be part of some weird series? Or is it just supremely awkward and poorly judged? Go get your dinner in the comments section below.

That’s possibly the worst trailer I’ve ever seen for anything. You just know they sat about thinking “yep, nailed it” as well. Perhaps a 40 year old man might think it’s ‘rad’ but it’s about as rad as Sonic’s pot-bellied cousin who frequents the local Ladbrokes.
I don't know what you're talking about.This new Stranger Things trailer looks great.
I'm not sure what the problem is. You obviously play as a teen punk girl that is playing an action rpg. It's super meta and totally goty.
Is that CGI? I'm honestly puzzled, we've reached a point where I'm having difficulty telling the difference.
The ray tracing effects on her spiked wristband are phenomenal.
The trailer itself... I mean, they were willing to swing with all their weight which I can appreciate. When you do that and you miss, you miss hard and it’s embarrassing.
The game itself looks like a generic mobile game. So, two swings, two misses for me.
It makes me feel like I've just hacked a teenage girl's webcam.
@ohhaime Dont see the issue either.
That trailer is so Sammy Barker.
Its the 1980s.i actually l🖤ve the trailer.haha.finish remnant from the ashes.awsome game.now the dlc.new game plus and this game.a prequel. Wow.word up son
Hololens compatibility confirmed!
Ok 1980s live action video and a game to advanced for those years? Im still not understanding what that was all about lol
We heard you kids are all into 80s nostalgia! Here's some of that for you!
@playstation1995 The 80's the golden age. 😃
80s tech and music. Very retro. Possibly hinting towards a youthful start, all quick and young, but mechanics show possible old age gaming?
@AJDarkstar
I agree this.
Had it been a generic trailer, Push square wouldn't have done this article (or at least write it up this way)
People like me wouldnt have known the game exist and curious enough to watch the said trailer for the game
May not be the target audience but it made me watch the trailer to see what all the fuss was about 😬 I'm sure people will tell us we are idiots for not understanding the message it puts across 😀
@ILikeStake You joke, but there's a chance that that's what it is.
It's like they took two different trailers and mashed them together and called it a game trailer. As someone else said, the trailer clearly worked.
I don't know what you are all talking about but I enjoyed the trailer and the game looks ok too. Jesus, could you people be any more jaded?
