Re: Crimson Desert's Next PS5 Patch Could Be Its Biggest Yet

dskatter

…holy moley did I miss some fun in here.

That said, I will criticize the heck out of these devs for their ill advised decisions (base ps5 footage? Why would anyone want THAT?!?) while also supporting their attempts to correct/fix/improve things. I bought the game a week or so ago and played for a little while, but overtime at work has kept me from doing much beyond the intro. The pop-in was really distracting even on PS5 Pro and I hope they’ll fix it.

However…Pragmata just came out and that will be my focus once I get some time, so Crimson Desert will wait for a few more patches before I get back to it.

Re: US PS5 Hardware Sales Hit a 2026 High Prior to Huge Price Increase

“It turns out all we have to do is tell everyone we’re raising prices to ginormously stupid levels in a week or two, and they’ll just buy our crap! We should have done this YEARS ago! Genius!”

…and yes, I say this as someone who sold his PS5 to a friend and got a Pro the day these increases were announced. I’m dumb too!

Re: 'The Result Is Incredible': Cyberpunk 2077's Big PS5 Pro Update Arrives Tomorrow

dskatter

Now THIS I’m looking forward to. I picked up Crimson Desert yesterday (yes, I’m coming around after seeing the post-launch support) but seeing the difference in Cyberpunk on my Pro after finishing the game on my base PS5 a couple years ago will be a huge treat. Enough to pull me away from Pokopia and from starting my Crimson Desert play through a little longer!

Re: South of Midnight (PS5) - The Most Beautiful Simple Game

@Kienda Agreed. Especially with the looming price jump.

I was fortunate enough to upgrade to a Pro last week, but I almost decided against it. Reviewers absolutely should spend a little time playing on a base no matter what. The Pro owners are a vast minority of the installed base.

Re: 'It's All a Bit Depressing': Just 13% Think PS5 Is Worth Its New Price

dskatter

This is the only console generation where prices have gone up, and I hate it. I’m a massive Sony dork, and even I would think not twice but thrice about getting a new console at those prices. Heck, the ONLY reason I caved and got a Pro before the price increase was someone at work buying my regular PS5 for a nice tidy sum.

@Sergo Show me on the doll where this article hurt you. This site exists to share/write PS articles and generate revenue. Do you think they are NOT going to follow up on their own poll?

Re: See More New PS5 Games from Xbox in Bumper June Showcase

It’ll be interesting to see if MS does cross-platform releases in the future with the new CEO. With the “This is an XBox” promotion being killed by the new head (and thank goodness, that was such a dumb thing), they might be rolling the cross-platform releases back as well. Maybe we won’t get E-Day for PS5 after all.

I definitely hope I’m wrong, but still!

Re: Major Crimson Desert Patch Out Now on PS5, Makes Countless Gameplay Improvements

dskatter

@lazarus11 The game has ALWAYS interested me. I’m just not a fan of things the dev did leading up to launch and the cumbersome (from what I’ve read, anyway) control scheme.

This update tells me they know they have issues to fix and they’re doing so. That makes up for a bit of the pre-launch annoyances.

Like I said: when they finally complete the game, I’ll give it a shot. Likely on a sale. My backlog can’t take the hit right now.

Re: PS5 Pro Buyers Rush to Beat $899.99 Price Hike Next Week

dskatter

Ordered one that afternoon, and sold my current one (with 1 tb extra storage and the controller the Pro came with) to a friend for just north of $400, so half my Pro was paid for immediately. Of course I got the disc drive as well since I’m not a complete doof!

I wondered what it would take to get me to go Pro. Guess another impending price increase on top of an existing price increase did it!

Re: '$1,000+ Consoles Could Become the Norm': PS6's Price Touted to Touch Four Figures

dskatter

@LogicStrikesAgain It’s still too much for a damn game console. I felt dirty buying that Pro yesterday, and if I hadn’t gotten a friend to buy my PS5 (he’s an XBox guy and wants to switch to PS, was VERY happy to get my PS5 once he found out about the impending price increase) I would have kept it and lived with it.

Either way, I’m just tired of this situation. AI has truly enshi***icated prices.

Re: '$1,000+ Consoles Could Become the Norm': PS6's Price Touted to Touch Four Figures

dskatter

Looks like my PS5 Pro might be my last console, unless the Switch 3 keeps costs down.

I will not pay $1000 for a console. The only reason I even got the Pro yesterday was because a friend bought my PS5 + 1 TB SSD for half the price of my new Pro.

The whole point of console gaming is that it is, in general, less expensive and annoying than a gaming PC. (I know there are exceptions, calm down PC master race folks.)

That seems to be no longer the case.
