Re: Bungie Is Not Making Destiny 3, Dev to Be Rocked by 'Significant' Layoffs

“Hey, should we finish up all that DLC we had in the works for Destiny 2, since it IS the only actual revenue we have right now? Or should we bet everything on Marathon and abandon Destiny 2 without having a backup plan?”

…that didn’t work out well. Maybe someday Bungie will become the Bungie of old again, but sadly today is not that day.

Re: Talking Point: Sony, Don't Re-Reveal Fairgames at the Next State of Play

@AdamNovice Hard disagree. Killing Concord was the most self-aware thing Sony had done since…well, green-lighting Concord.

Rewriting history by saying they didn’t give it time to get a player base is interesting. It COMPLETELY BOMBED at launch to the point that it was barely possible to get a match going. It got a MAXIMUM of 697 people playing on Steam.

It made Highguard look like a roaring success. The only game Concord has outperformed is Dustborn.

Sony did a mercy kill on Concord.

@get2sammyb I’m just saying that “critically acclaimed” is kind of meaningless at this point. All the reviewers praised Veilguard and yet it bombed spectacularly.

Marathon also being critically acclaimed is equally meaningless, especially with the amount of money Sony still has yet to recoup from the Bungie sale and the cost of developing Marathon. They might break even around the same time Disney breaks even from their purchase of Star Wars at this point…

I don’t need to talk about it, but I will.

Live service is either a license to print money or a giant flaming car wreck. Sometimes it’s incredibly obvious beforehand (Concord, Highguard, etc) it’s a car wreck, sometimes it isn’t.

All I know is, live service games other than MMORPGs (and even then, only WoW and FF14 ever got me in for the long haul) are and have been mostly irrelevant to me. I’m one of those psychos who prefers games like Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy, Persona and the like over the Fortnites/Apex Legends/etc. I enjoy the occasional Helldivers 2 match, but that’s mostly it.

Here’s hoping Sony can finally grasp that they need to actually feed people like me as well as the live service sloppa.

Re: 'PS5 Is for the Payers': Just 18% Think PS Plus Essential Is Good Value for Money in 2026

dskatter

Do I like that I need it to play online? Absolutely not. Plus I barely play online other than the occasional FF14 resub or monthly game of Helldivers 2. And technically I don’t even need Plus for FF14.

Do I like the monthly games? Absolutely. I’ve gotten some good gems from it.

Do I hate that cloud saves are locked behind PS Plus? Also absolutely.

I don’t have Essential for the online access. I have it for the cloud saves and the monthly games.

@Old-Red I’m one of those outliers who couldn’t care less about online play in general, but I’ve had a consistent PS Plus essential (before it was called essential) since the halcyon days of the PS3.

Re: Bungie Was a $765 Million Thorn in Sony's Side in 2025

dskatter

@Jay767 Happy for you. I have zero interest in an extraction shooter, or supporting Marathon-In-Name-Only.

Bungie screwed us over by removing content I’d paid for in Destiny 2, so they get no more money from me for this. Congrats on enjoying current game, though.

Re: Lords of the Fallen 2's Idea of Female Armour Is Downright Embarrassing

dskatter

Tell me you don’t like the developer of this game without telling me you don’t like the developer of this game.

That said, there is a place for old-school fantasy designs. This is one of them. Not every game has to have MUH BULKY FUNCTIONAL ARMOR, this is clearly fantasy and getting upset over it is rather hilarious given the glowing reviews of other games with similarly decorative outfits.

Re: Xbox Is Flip-Flopping on PS5 Again, and It's Truly Getting Tiring

dskatter

I think MS has seen that its games have a market on PS, and doesn’t want to let that revenue go…but at be same time, they need to have SOME exclusives or there’s just no reason to even own an Xbox beyond greater backwards compatability.

I’m glad to see Team Green remembering that they’re a game console company first and foremost. Hopefully they do well! Maybe the Series X will remain my first but not my last XBox. Time will tell!
