Re: Octopath Traveler 0 (PS5) - Perfectly Fine JRPG Action

dskatter

@Slayer25c That response couldn’t be any more stereotpically zoomer if you tried.

Also, saying that a reviewer or commenters that don’t like a basically 2d JRPG are “pass” their prime is rather hilarious, given that most of them likely cut their teeth on this style of game before you were old enough to walk.

Re: 'We Might as Well Dissolve the Team Right Now': Like a Dragon Boss Won't Bend to Overseas Popularity

dskatter

@Drax007 A-freaking-men. Some of the English VAs are pretty decent but Kiryu is a COMPLETE miscast. That alone removed any desire I had to ever listen to an English LAD again.

@SeaDaVie There are western so-called “fans” who don’t understand why things in these games are the way they are and want them to be changed to cater to their sensibilities. This never ever goes well, and it’s usually people who don’t even play the games that are the complainers.

Re: Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2 Get Discount PS5 Upgrade Paths for PS4 Digital Owners

dskatter

@FullMetalWesker Higher resolution, perhaps? And we still don’t know if Kiwami 2 will run at 60fps, nothing has been confirmed to my knowledge.

It would be utterly silly if it DIDN’T, but they couldn’t get it to 60fps on Switch 2 and you never know with Sega these days.

Who knows at this point? I just know I’m a sucker and will buy them no matter what because I’m an idiot!

Re: The Much Maligned PS5 Shooter Marathon Returns for Another Playtest in December

dskatter

@LogicStrikesAgain Do I want Bungie in general to fail? Nah.

Do I want this game in particular to fail? Only because they used the name of a series I grew up with and loved as a skin suit. If they'd called it Jim Bob's Extraction Shooter instead, I'd feel nothing but "eh" for it rather than the annoyance I have at its existence. Pretty cringy? Perhaps, but I'd like to think that's the correct reaction to someone taking something you loved and completely altering it into something that feels utterly soulless.

As it is, I wish all the best to Bungie as a whole, but at this point my only interest in it will be how large Marathon's impact crater will be compared to Concord.

But hey, that's also just my opinion!

Re: PS5 Fans Say Ghost of Yotei Plays Better, But Can't Match Ghost of Tsushima's Story or Hero

dskatter

Doesn’t surprise me at all. Obviously Yotei will have technical improvements over its predecessor, especially being made for PS5. Sucker Punch obviously learned lessons with the first game and running it on newer hardware.

Story wise, it’s very hard to top GoT. Especially with Jin as the focus. Such a good character.

I’ll get to Yotei someday. Backlog is too high, and I’ll be happy with a used copy down the road.

Re: Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition Upgrade Costs a Whopping $40 / £36, Out Now on PS5

dskatter

…why would I pay anything for any of this when I already have fallout 4 and all the dlc with the free PS5 upgrade that already exists? Unless you have a mad-on for that creators club thing, this is a silly thing to blow cash on.

This is one of the most pointless things I’ve seen, and I say this in a universe where GTA5 and TLoU1 have both received releases on three separate consoles for full price.

Re: The Best BioWare Can Do on N7 Day Is Insist Mass Effect PS5 Is Still in Dev

dskatter

@XenonKnight @Dogbreath Sadly I have no faith in them. As someone pointed out to me, this might be a studio with the same NAME as BioWare but it sure isn’t the same BioWare that did the ME trilogy. There might be one or two people there who were present, but the rest?

I have zero confidence in current BioWare. Mass Effect will remain a great trilogy (and meh side game) in my mind, just like those three (and ONLY three) Dragon Age games were pretty darn good.

Re: GTA 6 Delayed Again, Pushed Back to November 2026

Translation: “You idiots are still buying shark cards for GTA Online at a higher rate than we expected and we don’t want to interrupt that cash flow yet by releasing this game. We need yoy good and ready so we can make this the next game we use to milk you with for the next fifteen years!”

Re: Poll: Is PS Portal the Biggest Surprise Hit of the PS5 Generation?

dskatter

@tselliot Been nearsighted all my life and worn glasses constantly since the second grade. I’m essentially blind WITHOUT my glasses.

Problem is as I’m getting older it’s harder to see smaller things really close up WITH my glasses, so I’m on the way to bifocals/progressive lenses. Since I don’t want to take off my glasses just to play a portable screen… shrug

Re: Poll: Is PS Portal the Biggest Surprise Hit of the PS5 Generation?

dskatter

As I get older, the idea of a portable interests me less and less due to my eyesight not being what it once was.

That said, I figured the Portal would be a megaflop. A device to stream games from your PS5? Nah. Destined to fail. No one wants a device that relies on another device to play games portably.

Apparently I was quite wrong! Still have zero interest in it myself, but I definitely see how it would be useful for some. Still find direct game streaming from online to be a complete no-go, though.

Re: Halo's Worst Level Will Be Much Improved on PS5

dskatter

@nomither6 I don’t even remember that level, so that’s how much of an impact it made on me during my single playthru of 3.

The Library, though? That level dragged so long that I instantly knew what level this article was referring to without remembering the name of said level.
