The smash-hit roguelite arcade game Ball X Pit is due to grow a little later this month with the first free content update.
The Regal Update is due on 26th January 2026, and it introduces a number of new elements to the addictive Breakout-esque action title:
As noted in the above post, the update adds two new player characters, eight new ball types, and more to discover.
The first new character is the Carouser, whose collection of balls spin around him, which seems like it'll be great for dealing with enemies at close range.
Then there's the Falconer; when playing as this character, your balls are shot from two falcons on the left and right edges of the play field.
The Regal Update is the first of three big updates coming to Ball X Pit, with the latter two coming in April and July. All three updates will be free of charge.

One of the best games of 2025 and it easily made my top 3. Can't wait to get stuck in with the new content.
Started playing this game a while ago. Good fun and free updates are always welcome
YES! More balls. I love this silly game.
played this to death when it came out but after 40h or so, maybe more, there is very little pulling me back to ever play it again. gets very samey, and incredibly easy, once you've unlocked everything.
loved my initial hours with it though, and kudos for free updates
@DennisReynolds I love this game. I finally created the Satan ball yesterday after about 30 rounds..created the soul reaver and now I'm trying to create the deadeye cross. That's going to be tough.
Wonder if there be any new trophies
Fantastic news! I never heard of this game until it was on the list for best soundtrack I believe, on here. Bought it from that news and now play st least one round every couple days. It is very addicting.
Somewhat annoyed that I have to wait for all the new updates before playing it, but I know from experience I will not go back to a finished game months later for this type of content.
The more balls in my pit the happier I am. Yes please.
Not since the Elden days of McDonalds have I enjoyed a ball pit this much. Been playing it a lot on Switch 2, hoping they eventually release a physical disc for PS5!
