New World: Aeternum arrived on PS5 back in October 2024 — and now, developer Amazon Game Studios has confirmed that it's being delisted today across all platforms (that's the 15th January, 2026).
The delisting means that the title will no longer be available to purchase, and then the MMORPG will be taken offline completely about a year from now, on the 31st January, 2027.
So, in a nutshell, if you already own New World, you can still play it until it's shut down.
Sadly, the writing was on the wall for this one. The team posted a rather ominous statement in October of last year, revealing that it was "no longer sustainable to continue supporting the game with new content updates".
Originally, New World was an ambitious undertaking, with Amazon placing its financial heft behind a project that was meant to disrupt the MMO space.
However, despite attracting a lot of initial attention, it struggled to maintain widespread interest on PC. It was later restructured and re-released on consoles with the 'Aeternum' subtitle. But clearly, that didn't really help the game's long-term viability.
It's perhaps a bit of a shame, because New World did have some decent ideas. Its action-based combat system was a strength, and its fantastical island setting felt somewhat unique.
