MindsEye 2026

We honestly didn't think that we'd still be writing about MindsEye here in 2026, but apparently, the drama surrounding one of last year's most prominent flops simply never ends.

According to an Insider Gaming scoop, MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy will soon announce that it's parting ways with IO Interactive — the company behind the modern Hitman games, and the publisher of MindsEye.

Supposedly, this is in a bid to restructure Build a Rocket Boy's business, and "gain more control over its future".

But what does that future entail, exactly? Well, as you can imagine, the once-promised Hitman crossover content in MindsEye has reportedly been cancelled. And in its place, Build a Rocket Boy is putting its resources towards "fixes and content updates" for MindsEye.

Despite large-scale layoffs, the studio had previously stated that it plans to stick with MindsEye and work to improve the overall experience. Introducing user-made content on PC was key to this approach — but going by Steam's player tracking data, the game's almost completely dead.

With that in mind, it does seem a bit mad that Build a Rocket Boy would continue to have faith in some kind of comeback, but we obviously don't know what else the developer's cooking up behind the scenes.

What are your thoughts on MindsEye now that we're far removed from its initial release? Keep waiting for that all-timer comeback in the comments section below.
