Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection

dskatter

It would be nice if this article were updated to reflect the actual “at least” lifetime for Blu-ray Discs so the original article’s info that THIS article cites is represented accurately. Otherwise it really comes off as misrepresenting the effective life span of a Blu-ray Disc, intentionally or unintentionally.

The other thing I mentioned is apparently not mentionable here, so I shall not mention it.

Re: Ex-Xbox System Seller Starfield Edges Ever Closer to PS5

dskatter

I own a series X, and even got Starfield on disc last year on discount.

I’ve tried getting into it twice, and bounced off twice. I just can’t get into it. I’ll give it a third try someday, but anyone calling this a “system seller” with a straight face needs their head examined.

@djlard This isn’t Veilguard, it’ll take at least a year for that.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Cinematic Trailer Sets Scene for Sengoku Action

My prediction: reviewers will call it a return to form for Ubisoft, Ubisoft will not release sales numbers but “engagement” numbers and a good chunk of the folks who worked on AC Shadows will get laid off. None of the higher up’s, of course.

Note that I’m not rooting for this. I’m simply making a prediction based on the last couple of years watching hugely hyped games crash and burn.

And if someone’s comment here is any indication, the folks at Push Square using AI to write this article tells me their actual interest level in this game beyond getting clicks for the AC name is fairly low…

Re: 15 Years Ago, Square Enix Released the Most Divisive Final Fantasy Game

dskatter

I have the trilogy on PS3, but picked them up again on XBox disc when I got my Series X last year to give them another shot via BC.

After playing through a good chunk of FF13, it just made me want a proper trilogy remaster for PS4/5. These games do deserve a little bit of the hate they get, but not all of it. I’d happily buy a trilogy remaster.

Re: 3 New PS Plus Essential Games Live Now, Including PS5 RPG Dragon Age

dskatter

I can’t wait to add two good games to my digital library, Sonic and Turtles! Though Turtles should count as multiple…

As for the third one…well, when EA can’t say what the actual sales numbers are and has to use words like “engagement” in their numbers…that’s a big ol warning sign. The devs being laid off almost immediately added flashing neon around said sign. PS plus in four months added a novelty siren on top, constantly sounding an alarm.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for March 2025?

dskatter

Already have Sonic Colors on XBox disc and Cowabunga Collection on PS5 disc so this month is definitely not for me. And that’s okay, I’m not complaining! I can’t lick out with games I don’t already own every time, plus it’s nice to keep the discs on the shelf while I have my subscription.

Glad people get to experience those two good games on offer this month!

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon 5's PS5 Price Point Too High?

dskatter

@AdamNovice It would be a choice irony if the PS5 MCC collection had a fully updated/patched version of the whole schmeer on disc while the XBox version is (thanks to all the additions and such) a glorified access key these days.

I’d still buy a copy, though!

@Juanalf This reaction confuses me, too. It’s the same game, same pricing, same addons. I get that we like to pay less for things when possible, but that likely won’t happen till it comes time to delist Horizon 5 due to licensing. Horizon 4 got INSANE discounts shortly before that, so I guess any holdouts will get their chance for a discount in a few years!

Re: Suicide Squad Bombed So Bad, It Basically Took Wonder Woman and Monolith Down with It

dskatter

@AverageGamer As far as I and a significant number of gamers are concerned…Suicide Squad ended the Arkhamverse beyond saving. So it’ll be interesting to see what happens if they’re allowed to do more damage.

Just another way WB doesn’t comprehend the damage they’ve done to what was (and still is, if you ignore SS) the best comic game series of all time.

@djlard They’re desperate to wring as much out of these failures as they can, and apparently whatever Sony gives them to include it in PS Plus is worth it. Which says a LOT about how “well” Veilguard sold, since SS took a year to hit Essential and Failguard took a whopping four months. I so want to see the actual sales numbers instead of the “engagement” numbers EA touts.
