Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Tops 3 Million Sales in Three Months

dskatter

@Jey887 Engagement is a meaningless metric to tout for a game because it could include people who bought and refunded the game on Steam, people who bought a used copy and played it after someone sold it after hating it, etc.

Actual sales is a far more meaningful metric. If this game hit that many actual sales, that’s more impressive to me than a dev saying “engagement” or “players.”

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for May 2025 Announced

dskatter

VERY good month. Tried Balatro on Apple Arcade and the lack of a storyline kept me from getting sucked in like others have been, but the gameplay is solid. Boltgun is EXCELLENT, bought it on XBox and glad to have it on PS as well! FOR THE EMPRAH!

ARK I’m less interested in, but I’m sure it’ll be worth a shot.

Re: Stellar Blade's Eve Will Seemingly Be Playable in Spicy Smartphone Game

dskatter

@AhmadSumadi …Since 2013 when launched on the PS3, TLoU has had three releases of the first game on PS and one on PC, two releases of the second game on PS and one on PC, one release of BOTH games as a package on PS and a tv show for two seasons so far.

Stellar Blade has had one game released once (so far, PC version imminent), DLC crossover with NiER, and now a crossover with an existing mobile game made by the same developer, Nikke.

There is zero similarity in “over-saturation of the market.”

Re: Forza Horizon 5 (PS5) - Xbox Had the Best Open World Racer All This Time

dskatter

I got my first XBox in April of last year, a series X, just to try out some of these XBox exclusives. After playing some of the Halo games and Gears of War, I was kinda underwhelmed and was considering selling it.

Then I fired up Forza Horizon 5 for the first time.

As a result, I still have that series X, as well as purchased copies of Horizon 4-5 digitally and 2-3 on disc. It’s safe to say that Horizon 4 and 5 were the huge reasons I kept that console.

And now 5 is on PS5, with 6 HOPEFULLY also on PS5 at launch.

It is a good time to be a PS owner!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5?

dskatter

Played it on gamepass, and since the physical copy isn’t really the whole game I felt no need to pay full price for the PS5 version at launch. It’s a darn good game, I hasten to add, and I look forward to playing it on my preferred console in the future.

I’ll get it on discount used down the road. Don’t really feel like rewarding MS for this kind of silly physical release.

Also, wish that movie poll had a “only the original trilogy!” option!

Re: Switch 2 Fans Can’t Stand Seeing Nintendo’s New Console Compared to the 12-Year-Old PS4

dskatter

It’s somewhere between the PS4 and PS5, obviously. Closer to the PS4 in some ways, the PS5 in others.

The Switch 2 can do things the PS4 could only dream of, and it’s all solid-state storage so access times are faster which mitigates a lot compared to the hard drive based PS4. Yes, you could drop an SSD in the base PS4 but it couldn’t USE most of that speed due to hardware based throughput limitations.

Nintendo did a fine job on the power level for this console, given the need to make it a hybrid. Zero complaints from this Sony/Nintendo fanboy.

Re: PS5 Price Increases Announced by Sony, Affect UK, Europe, and More

dskatter

@RoomWithaMoose Could very well be. Or the current stock in the US is high enough that they don’t see a need to do a price hike at the moment, at least until they need to start bringing a more substantial number here. I see PS5s (and series X/S and Switches) on the shelf regularly in my neck of the woods, and unlike 2020 they don’t vanish instantly once they’re put out anymore.

Either way, it’s telling that PS5 prices have never previously gone up before this in the US but they previously have in other countries. Including, if memory serves, Japan itself.

Re: Poll: Are You Planning to Buy Bungie's Marathon?

dskatter

Marathon-in-name-only is definitely not for me, sadly. Wish Bungie well, but I’ll stick to Helldivers 2 or FF14 when that rare urge to play with other people strikes. I’m sure some folks will enjoy it, though!

@AndyKazama Careful, certain people here will accuse you of never playing the original when you express affection for OG Marathon!

Re: Marathon a 'Premium', Paid for Game on PS5, But It's Not $70

dskatter

@BranJ0 It amuses me that “well, it looks better than concord!” is our metric now.

That said, I doubt this will be a massive success but I’m definitely willing to be wrong. Maybe Bungie won’t remove content that the original purchasers paid for and lost access to this time around, since they aren’t bothering with anything silly like a story or plot with this game!

Re: Bungie's New PS5 Shooter Marathon Grabs September Release Date

dskatter

@Northern_munkey I respect the attempt!

That said, I’d be willing to give this game a shot for zero dollars. Just wish they’d chosen a different name, feels kinda icky dredging up a previous game name that has very little in common with what this is beyond having network capable multiplayer functionality.

@RoomWithAMoose Yer darn right!

Re: Bungie's New PS5 Shooter Marathon Grabs September Release Date

dskatter

@Northern_munkey Hilariously, you would lose this bet! My grandparents had a copy of it and I played it quite a bit along with Adventure and (of all things) a game that was officially licensed by the band Journey!

The joys of having grandparents who invested money in an Atari 2600 for their grandkids in the early 80s.
