Re: Fortnite's AI Voiced Darth Vader Is Causing More Chaos in the Games Industry

JEJ gave permission for Disney to use his voice to portray Darth Vader.

This violated none of that agreement and SAG (as usual) has no real leg to stand on other than “but other union actors!”

Given some of the bad Vaders I’ve heard in games over the years…yeah, I’m pretty okay with this. It might be a crappy chat bot but it’s still a Vader portrayal.

@tameshiyaku Tell me you know nothing about how hated Denuvo is without telling me you know nothing about how hated Denuvo is.

It causes issues and usually reduces FPS by annoyingly large amounts. I’ve seen comparison videos of a few games before and after someone strips Denuvo out of it, and the difference is NOT small. PC gamers are absolutely right to complain about this, and complain loudly.

Hopefully they actually implemented it in such a way that it genuinely doesn’t impact performance, but it’s still not a great thing to have in there.

And that’s not even getting into the odd region restrictions happening without a PSN account requirement.

Good for them. Hopefully this way they’ll dodge any future PSN account requirements in the next game and everyone will be happy!

They seem to be a very good bunch of devs.

@Frmknst They didn’t “slip away,” they’re just not relying on another company for funding. Why are Sony “losers” for allowing a dev they’ve done great things with do their own thing?

Re: Just Like the Game, The Last of Us 2's TV Adaptation Is Getting Review Bombed

@AhmadSumadi If the only reason that person watching was because of Pedro Pascal being present? Absolutely.

I haven’t seen a single episode, but you should have heard the normie I work with after that episode came out. She was devastated.

Do I think it’s worth a 1 rating? Nah. But I can see WHY someone would do so.

Edit: there’s always two sides when it comes to things like this, and it always seems that way:

“People are giving the thing I like low scores, they must be review bombing for nefarious reasons!”

“People are giving the thing I don’t like low scores, these are all totally valid and anyone calling this review bombing is an idiot!”

When it’s really “wow, there’s a lot of people who genuinely didn’t like what happened to Joel and appear to not enjoy the direction this is going, AND there’s a lot of people who might be disingenuously throwing 1s in there for nefarious reasons.”

The number might be amplified by the latter, but it sure as hades doesn’t make the former any less valid just because they don’t adore the thing you adore.

gets off soapbox

You know, what some people perceive as “review bombing” could be “we hate the direction this is going after seeing this episode.”

If it’s against something you like/enjoy, it’s review bombing. Funny how that works…

Person comes to show because of Pedro Pascal: Yay, this show is awesome!

Season 2 with what happens to Joel: “Yeah, I hate this now.”

Re: PS5's Share of Active US Players Is Slowly Beginning to Pummel Xbox

Gosh, I can’t imagine why with MS doing everything it can to destroy its own console lineup and say that everything is an XBox.

Gamepass means MS doesn’t care about hardware and will only make a token effort to keep a console going. Ports of just about all their major franchises are making their way to PS, and I have no doubt that if MS could somehow work out Gamepass access on PS, they would.

At least two people at my workplace have said they likely won’t continue with XBox. One other actually HAS sold their X and gotten a PS5 instead.

Soon it’ll just be Sony, Nintendo and Gamepass, not XBox.

Full disclosure: I own a PS5, Switch and a Series X which is my first and likely last XBox.

@NeonTiger This game, unlike other games which got constantly published articles, actually deserves the recognition. Lower price, incredibly well done, makes a bunch of AAAA games pale in comparison.

Just scroll on by if you don’t like seeing the articles.

Also, couldn’t disagree with you more. I’m well into chapter 1 and absolutely loving it. Is there slight jank? Yup. Is it game-breaking? Hell no. And Charlie freaking Cox nails his role.

Comparing this to a shounen anime or a Netflix show is…really, really reaching.
