@Toot1st These days they always are, but that's what makes them the best because the quality of games and reveals are good and it's games all platforms can enjoy so the most amount of people will enjoy the show.
They seem to be churning them out too quickly, and it's becoming a creativity and quality issue. They should take next year off regardless of if GTA 6 hits that November date or not.
I enjoyed Yotei, and that is probably in my top 5, depending on how well Metroid Prime 4 plays out.
Also, EE33 is a good game, but it's overrated. The story, writing, and music were great, but the game design was fairly poor despite a catchy dodge/parry system loop for souls-like fans (Story mode was unbalanced).
In some instances, most retailers offer the DualSense and games at 10-15% lower prices in the UK. However, for items like the DualSense Edge, Portal, PSVR2, or PS5 Pro, this could be handy, as those are rarely available at a discount, if ever.
And March 2027 gives us an idea that Nov 2027 is effectively the end of the generation.
If it can get those things right, it will take market share from PS5 and maybe a bit from Nintendo, as Microsoft effectively has nothing more to take from in the next couple of years.
I see more and more millennials and Gen X gamers who had consoles since childhood moving over to PC.
As no product is truly ever free, I wonder what it is they will get - maybe useful data via PSN, maybe leaning on some peoples nature to spend on MTX.. I do wonder.
The PS5 generation has been great for hardware, but software exclusives have been a fair bit less than those of the PS4 generation. Some significant mistakes have also been made around GaaS.
It's only selling in line with the PS5 in year 5, and nearly all those lost Xbox console players have moved over to PC.
@Max_the_German Tbh PS5 sales roughly in line with the PS4 gen at this point in.. that lost 20 million vs last gen have moved over to PC and with the Steam Machine out next year I will expect the home console market to shrink further.
They are 100% going to hold this for PS6 only and that is the right choice. I expect to see this in 2028 where there are about 20 million PS6's in the wild.
Honestly, the music was okay but not the best I heard in games this year tbh. I feel like people are getting tired of the E33 constant praise, and I do wonder if it will win less at the Game Awards because of that now (plus some other 10/10 games).
Watch everyone go mad when Spilt Fiction wins, haha. GK loves JF, and you know they aren't afraid to go against the grain.
As there is an MC, I expect more conversation, behind-the-scenes insights, and indie perspectives. There might be 1 or 2 AAA new game announcements if we are fortunate. This close to the game awards, most AAA games will be saving the announcements for that show.
"..will be packed with great games, interviews, and new looks at anticipated titles. (Notice no big mention of new games.)
I would keep my expectations very low for this one (Will just check the highlights on here).
I expect Wolverine to launch in early to late October. Sony has had a habit if launching their big AAA games in October recently. They will very much avoid November if the GTA 6 release date sticks.
@LazyDaisy Unfortunately as GTA is the largest and most successful selling media franchise ever, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and any other media outlet will actively look to avoid GTA 6 within a 2 week window either side to avoid the vacuum.
It's no slant on any other game or media, they just cannot compete (and would be unfair to expect them to) with something that will make billions in a matter of days.
It is unlikely R* would fire these staff without the legal evidence to back it up. UK and Canadian employment dismissal laws are strict - it's not easy to fire an employee without a legal breach of contract.
Overall, the story was better in Tsuhima, but the gameplay is a lot better in Yotei. The feeling of excitement in Yotei was gone too, as it didn't feel as new or fresh as Tsuhima when it came out in 2020.
@Gunga They would have planned the delay before that happened and had to tell shareholders about the delay at yesterday's T2 shareholder meeting (which they then had to make public). A delay would actually just draw more attention to them, so that's not optimal either.
Anyone who followed the RDR2 delays knows this is exactly how R* works.
They tell shareholders to set dates until they finally get one right. Typically, it's the third delay, as seen with RDR 2, so I feel like this peak season launch date is the one they were really aiming for, but didn't want to upset shareholders at the time and mess up the stock price.
And no, they didn't delay this because they fired 40 out of the 6,000 staff they have; they announced it at the shareholder call and made it public at the same time. It would be pretty naive to think that such a small number of staff would have any real impact on the global development teams.
@JimmyRiddle @SeaDaVie @dellyrascal I have lived and worked in London for many years, and I believe it has deteriorated somewhat from say 10 years ago. I myself have been a victim of attempted muggings and have visibly witnessed an increase in gang-related stabbings and muggings in the last few years, living in South and East London.
I do agree that the whole " everything is bad now" narrative is wrong, but it would also be naive to ignore the increase in violent crime over the last few years across London. The "why" is the unknown part at the moment.
It would be wise for Sony to follow any pro consumer moves especially the online pay wall as younger generations will see this as a positive and are more likely to remain loyal to the brand.
The key to the future is to get newer players to remain loyal for the long term health of the PS brand.
Social media spending is on a YoY upward trend with Gen Z and Gen Alpha, while Gaming spending is on a YoY downward trend (12% less spending than 2022. Whether it's TikTok or other short-form content, Millennials will be the last generation with an attachment to home consoles and long-form video games, and their market share will continue to shrink as screen time gets taken up by new and emergent media formats.
It's normal for media formats to come and then decline as newer generations seek new experiences. Movies are really the only thing that has really stuck the last century, and even they are consumed in very different ways.
It's not good or bad, it is just human progress. I will enjoy videos games for as long as I am able to.
The reason Microsoft spent 70 Billion Dollars on Acti-Biz King is for the mobile division: King. Mobile games are a huge business, and Microsoft owns Candy Crush.
Microsoft only cares about making maximum profit, and consoles are now a dated and expensive way to push out software.
They are doing unpopular things with Millennials and Gen X now so that they will be able to make more money from Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the medium to long-term future.
Nintendo smartly provides a mobile-adjacent product marketed toward young consumers, so it is in a unique position to sell portable, low-cost, low-power consoles.
I can only hope Sony has a long-term media strategy for Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers, or they will be long gone.
Well the open access multi platform move is pro consumer move that allows so many more people to play more game where they want.
That is an objectively good thing. More choice is beneficial.
MS gaming is now more successful then ever even though it doesn't conform to the aged console platform business model. PC is the future and Microsoft are there first.
@SeaDaVie Hookshot seems to give all the non-Nintendo codes to PS these days when they only get one code. I feel like Pure Xbox might not be around much longer if an Xbox-published game is only getting a full review on a PlayStation site.
It's clear that Microsoft don't want to continue with physical releases so they should just offer digital only and do themselves a favour.
I think there is a perception that there is huge demand for physical on PS5 when in reality it's getting so small now it's under 20%. Nintendo is the only format that Microsoft should bother doing physical for.
I think Sony players are suffering from sequel fatigue. I enjoyed the gameplay more, but I much preferred the story of Tsushima. It felt so fresh in 2020. In 2025, it feels a bit old. I hope Sucker Punch moves to a new IP like Insomniac and Naughty Dog are doing for something new.

Re: One of Ghost of Yotei's Most Unique Features Was Meant to Be Much Bigger
It definitely felt significantly scaled back to how I imagined it would be due to then they bigging it up too much in interviews beforehand.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (PS5) - The Most Absurd Game in Series History
They seem to be churning them out too quickly, and it's becoming a creativity and quality issue. They should take next year off regardless of if GTA 6 hits that November date or not.
Re: Xbox Partner Preview Officially Confirmed for 20th November, Includes 'Brand New Reveals'
This will already be significantly better than pretty much anything Sony has shown this year.
Regardless of anything else, Xbox always shows up with good showcases with games that all platforms are interested in.
Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced - Who Are Your Winners?
My top games of the year are:
KCD 2
DK Bananza
Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma

Re: Sony Trying to Silence Concord Revival Project After Fans Brought PS5, PC Disaster Back
Let's be honest, Sony (and Herman Hulst) just doesn't want to remind people that it presided over the biggest media flop (not just gaming) in history.
I don't think Herman Hulst being demoted was enough tbh. The live service stuff has been a mess.
Re: Steel Yourselves: The Game Awards Nominees Are Being Announced Imminently
I can't wait to hear less about how E33 is the "best game ever".
Also, watch Split Fiction get nominated and win lol.

It really depends on the price and ease of use.

PS5 ports were added much later into development so of course they aren't going to be as polished as the Xbox and PC versions on day one.
They could have just delayed the PS5 version but then PS5 players would have been unhappy especially as the game is mostly stable and very playable.
Re: The Outer Worlds 2 (PS5) - Mechanically Fantastic RPG Struggles to Be Memorable
