Those upcoming DualSense controllers were 100% going to be for Marathon, but after the recent conreversies, they smartly pivoted the product away from Marathon lol.
LogicStrikesAgain This is Push Square, not Pure Xbox. The deflection of failing against Switch is obvious, but we won't agree, so let's leave it there.
Feels like this has been delayed a couple of times - hopefully it ends up as a decent finished product and does not get swallowed by the late May releases of 007 First Light and Legacy of the Dark Knight.
People are going in on Xbox sales numbers, which, of course, were never going to be good when the price cut/significantly more powerful PS5 is barely outselling the almost 9-year-old Switch, lol.
That's the true levels of fanboy delusion/defection right there.
This is what happens when you close all your Japanese studios and move your head office to the US. SIE is no longer a "Japanese giant" like Push Square always claimed; it's an "American giant" now.
I'll be checking this out on game pass day one and might grab it on PS5 if I get a PS5 pro this year. I would expect the PS5 version will be available in 3-12 months.
Maybe Playground only have a certain amount of PS5 dev kits and prioritised Fable for a simultaneous release before they launched Forza 5 and saw the sales success.
Seen a lot of discourse about Sony (and Microsoft) getting out of the console business and moving over to PC. It will happen eventually (for MS quicker). Sony has razor-thin profit margins (only 9% profit so far across this gen), which is one reason Jim Ryan lost his job. An over-reliance on a loss leader like the base PS5 meant they were not maximizing software and live service profits.
Eventually, Sony will not accept loss-making consoles, affecting their bread and butter of entertainment software and services. When hardware eats too much into their net profits, they will drop hardware like a brick. It's what shareholding businesses do.
Hermen Hulst needs to leave SIE as a top priority so that the PS6 generation is not spoiled by lengthy development times and significant live service failures. Without Insomniac, he would be gone by now.
For PS5 - either a price increase of the 2TB variant to £750, or a 1TB reduction for PS5 Pro at £699, or just below.
GTA 6 will break sales records, and Geoff Keighley will name it Indie Game of the Year
Another price increase for the PS5 Slim Digital to £450 and £499 for the disc (same as the Xbox UK prices).
A newer, revised PS5 slim with cheaper materials to further reduce weight for manufacturing and shipping costs
PS5 to hit 110 million consoles sold if GTA 6 launches on Nov 19th.
But my prediction is that GTA 6 gets delayed to March 2027, Wolverine gets pushed to November 2026, and they sell 100 million with the rest being sold in Q2 2027 when GTA 6 does launch.
PS Plus prices to go up by £1.50 - £2, so Premium up from £13.49 per month to £14.99.
No Sony showcase until the next console is revealed - but Intergalaic gets shown off in May ahead of a 2027 launch. The 2.5D God of War game gets shown off in the state of play before that.
I would expect this to come out a bit after the Xbox/PC version, like with the Forza Horizon 6 game. Seems like they are porting games between 6- 12 months after the release. It might be intentional, as they need a value proposition for those AAA games on Game Pass, but it also might be that they are juggling PS5 dev kits too. With the amount of studios they have and priority with COD and other multiplayer games like Forza Horizon 6, they might not have enough for every single game right away.
Either way, more players getting to play these great games is only a good thing.
The plates do look nice, but honestly, I never really look at my PS5, and I would rather get 2 of the controllers or a controller and a new game than the controller and those expensive plates.
I get that the Slim has probably sold around half of the 85+ million consoles sold, but the PS5 Pro is where the big spenders of the brand are.
I myself am looking at getting the PS5 Pro ahead of games like Crimson Desert, Wolverine, and GTA 6 before the price goes up again this year for all consoles (Plus the expected PS6 delay to 2028).
I would not be surprised if the game slips into 2027. I can see Wolverine being given an early October date, similar to Yotei. Still, maybe they will wait longer to announce the date until they know if GTA 6 will meet its November release date or get delayed, allowing Wolverine to take the November slot alongside the Halo remake.
@Reyzore Sony needs to leverage it's exclusivity by taking its games off of Steam and putting them on it's own PC launcher after say 6 months of PS6. It drives PC players into the ecosystem, and if Sony plans well, they can money-hat exclusives off of Steam.
If the next Xbox does have Steam, it's not going to be a great look for Sony, as their exclusive games will be played on what will still be deemed as competitor consoles (Even though it won't be, but it's psychological now).
@nomither6 The 60GB variant was $600 in 2006, that $964 in today's money, so yeah, it was very expensive - they messed up and had to back track hard because Xbox 360 did so well. That won't happen in the PS6 gen, sadly, as Xbox won't keep them accountable or be any kind of price anchor.
Consoles are an antiquated business model with razor-thin margins that MS is exiting now, rather than doing it later when Gen Z and Gen Alpha have greater purchasing power and move to PC's/Handhelds, and turn their backs on traditional consoles.
If Sony is smart, it will create a PC launcher sharpish and put their games there rather than Steam.
Sadly, with Xbox out of the console market, all we have to look forward to with Sony is PS3 era levels of price hikes and anti-consumer practices like removing rewards programs and decreasing the value of PS+ while barely shipping 1-2 AAA games per year.
It would be a travesty if GTA 6 beat Wolverine on a PS fan site haha
I have a gut feeling that 007 First Light is going to be a bit of a let-down. Every time they announce a new celebrity for the game, I get more wary of Amazon's involvement and less interested in the game.
The gameplay looks fun, but I think that the story might rub some Bond fans the wrong way.

@Slayer25c I don't think warning people about a dev team with a very dodgy track record in quality is unreasonable. It's a mere heads-up rather than a call to action.
@CutchuSlow My sister knows nothing about games, but she tends to see ads for games on YouTube and social media. Today, she was asking me about Metroid Prime 4.
Moving the Like a Dragon series to a hybrid turn-based system and adding English dubbing (for those who want to understand the story better) was the best choice they have made. The turn-based system is pretty incredible and some of the most fun I have ever had with any kind of gameplay. I am glad that they are sticking to what makes the games so fun and unique. We love them because they are inherently Japanese.
I expect Stranger than Heaven to take on the action mantle, and having options for both game styles is great.
It does come across as a little lazy if they couldn't even do a small selection of avatars without resorting to an AI tool. It's a multi Billion dollar company, they have enough resources to throw together something half decent looking at a low cost.
I understand gen AI for labour intensive tasks like coding, repetitive manual tasks and things like that but artwork should be designed with the aid of a computer using a human mind not from the computer.
If companies feel that they can get away with these so called small things now, they will progressively move into things such as larger artistic components which reduce cost but also quality.
As for the articles, you could say they are designed for engagement because of course the business is run off of ads and memberships so it needs to get our ever dwindling attention spans.
I know the knee jerk reaction is to try to defend Sony on a PlayStation site but stuff like this should not be encouraged by any large corporation.
@SeaDaVie Europe does effectively prop up SIE I do agree but I do think Switch 2 will take more market share before PS6 arrives. Obviously it won't be competing in Asia or North America where Nintendo gets the best sales ratios.

@GamingGod SIE's global head office is in the US.
