Capcom has in many ways indirectly created the market for Code Violet . There’s been so much pent-up demand for a new Dino Crisis these past few years, TeamKill Media is just delivering on that enthusiasm. The dev’s track-record, with titles like Quantum Error , isn’t the strongest – but all eyes will undoubtedly be on this oft-delayed third-person shooter at the start of the year.

It’s been a long-time coming, but a free-to-play fighter inspired by the world and characters of League of Legends seems like a no-brainer, doesn’t it? But with a small character roster and a long development cycle, 2XKO has taken a bit of beating in the build-up to its release. Fortunately, it’ll almost assuredly find its largest audience on console, and so its PS5 launch in January represents the perfect opportunity to recalibrate public opinion.
Gacha games may be dime a dozen, but Arknights: Endfield is bringing something fresh to the increasingly overpopulated arena. While this may be the most Genshin Impact -coded adventure since last year’s Wuthering Waves , it has a whole automation aspect which promises to set it apart. Imagine Satisfactory with an army of waifus, and you’ll be roughly on the right track.
Another gacha game, yes – but The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has production values through the roof. Inspired by the highly regarded manga by Nakaba Suzuki, this effort has the advantage of being able to pull from established lore and characters. That means hopes are high for this release’s story, which tends to be the weakest part of other entries in its genre.
The original Code Vein, a kind of anime-infused twist on FromSoftware’s now-ubiquitous Soulslike gameplay loop, was a breakout hit for Bandai Namco. Its successor Code Vein 2 , with a greater emphasis on story and a much denser combat system, will hope to push this fledgling franchise forward once more.
Cockpit games always work best in virtual reality, and while the prospect of a World War 2 dogfighting sim may sound puke inducing on the surface, Ace Combat 7 already proved the format can work. Aces of Thunder proves there’s plenty of life left in PSVR2 yet, then, after it enjoyed a surprisingly strong end to 2025. Don’t toss out your headset just yet, eh?
Square Enix is slowly but surely revisiting the entire Dragon Quest franchise, with PS1 entry Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past next on the docket. This remake – lovingly recrafted using real-life models as the basis for its new visual style – will truncate the campaign and allow you to “moonlight” as a second class, adding plentiful build potential.
Koei Tecmo’s quietly massive action RPG series rolls on in earnest with Nioh 3, this time incorporating the ninja stance to run adjacent to the existing samurai stance. This faster, evasion focused playstyle promises to bring a different dynamic to the more methodical gameplay of previous entries, and pairs with a more open gameplay structure, allowing for more exploration and player agency.
Legendary developer Suda51 will break the fourth wall once more with potentially his most oddball adventure yet, the blissfully wacky Romeo Is a Dead Man . With a narrative that transcends space time, an ever-evolving structure bursting with unpredictability, and a gameplay style that blends the best of both melee combat and third-person shooting, this package promises to be nothing if not memorable.
The abundance of Yakuza games available today signals just how far we’ve strayed from the times when Sony had to step in to help localise the series. But for many fans, inaugural PS3 entry Yakuza 3 will be an eternal favourite, as you never forget your first after all. This remake expands on the original with deeper orphanage management minigames, a biker-themed subplot, and an entire new campaign fleshing out villain Mine.
