Sony announced a new collection of console covers for the PS5 this week, and these ones look seriously nice.
The HYPERPOP collection – which also includes DualSense controllers – relies on strong, vibrant colours and a gradient effect, which kinda makes the design look like negative photos or X-Rays or something.
The catch? The console covers will only be available for the PS5 Slim, with no PS5 Pro compatibility. It’s something owners of the supercharged system are starting to get used to.

“You’d think making a plastic cover for all three of your machine variables would be possible but I digress,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “Let me guess, PS5 Pro users get the short end of the stick yet again.”
Sony has released covers for the PS5 Pro before, specifically with Ghost of Yotei. But it clearly thinks creating multiple versions of these face plates for its various formats is futile.
We can certainly see how the supercharged system likely has the smallest addressable audience of its install base, but at the same time, it’s the enthusiasts who own it, and thus are probably most likely to splash out on expensive console covers.
Either way, we think the company will continue to attract criticism if it fails to make these covers available for PS5 Pro owners as well.
