With the juggernaut that is GTA 6 now standing alone in the November wilderness, the rest of the PS5 release schedule has a little more room to breathe.
Recently we saw Housemarque’s roguelite shooter Saros pushed back a few weeks, and now IO Interactive’s highly anticipated spin on James Bond has been delayed as well.
Originally due out on 27th March, the title will now launch on 27th May – exactly two months later.
In a statement, the Danish dev said “this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one”.
It added:
“The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the best possible version at launch. We’re confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we’ve received since we revealed the game.”
The slight delay will also separate the game from the pack a bit; while this effort has always looked like it’ll be a success, February and March looks stacked for new releases, so the game should now be able to monopolise the industry’s attention in May.
