You can't compare an unplugged 20w machine to a plugged-in 100+w machine.

The price is in line with other Windows handhelds in the market.

If Xbox does an open-access Console PC hybrid at a mass market price, then Sony is in trouble with their locked ecosystem, and they know it.

I will be keeping an eye on this one as more information rolls out

The PS5 was already slightly dated back in 2020 so I'll never turn down the chance to get a sub £500 upgrade which time will see significant gains in AI upscaling tech and other new features that have come to fruition in the last few years.

These lower end machines are never really going to hit that potential anymore with deminishing returns on hardware performance especially at cost.

I feel like this will be the last console gen before the the hard core moves over to PC (a lot are already on Xbox side) and Microsoft and Steam license out their OEM's to 3rd party console manufacturers who can deliver a cost effective mass market living room mini gaming pc

Based on the Xbox store, I'm sure the reviews will be calm, logical, well thought out and spelt correctly with the correct grammar too...

@RBMango I don't think so, AMD frequently works with Sony and MS and makes lots of money from them both. They would not want Microsoft to go to a competitor under any circumstances, as they want to keep market share through high-value contracts.

@themightyant I hope there is strong competition for Sony as it is when they deliver their best hardware and are most pro-consumer around pricing and services.

They are saying a "few" years to drive more people to buy the PS5. Realistically, it will come by Fall 2027, but they don't want to say that yet to keep sales up.

I'm thinking of getting a Switch 2 later this year before the inevitable price increase next year.

I will only get a Switch 2 for exclusives, as the 3rd party stuff plays at double frame rate on PS5/Xbox Series.

I get on average about 20 games a year, so I could be considered a hyper enthusiast, although all those games are digital and I don't buy collectors' editions. I have brought 3 limited edition PS5 controllers, though, and a PS Portal.

A good strategy to get new players interested before Black Ops 7.

I have never played a COD game, but I might check out this free trial now.

It's great that this is getting an English dub but they should have added that to kiwami 1/2 first as now it's a bit disjointed between the legacy titles that have the English dub and those that don't.

16 hours in and I'm enjoying it so far! In some aspects like story its not quite as strong as Tsushima but in regards to gameplay and graphically it's definitely a step up.

I'm looking forward to completing all the quests and environment markers. I might even go for the platinum which is rare for me.

If it's just better FPS and graphics like you can already get on a decent PC then i won't be interested to go back. I want want to see additions to gameplay and new offline content for me to consider going back.

@Bamila That seems like a very logical prediction tbh. If RDR 2 remaster gets an early 2026 date, I fully expect GTA 6 to be pushed to the fall.

@Jammer Tbh he is actually one of the most acurate leakers out there if you look at the Nintendo stuff he has put online. He did say he didn't know when though.

Co-op is a no-op for me so this is good news.

@Oram77 it isn't ready though, they have a concept and plan and are working on it for early next year. When the dlc is bundled in day one that is more of an issue.

If Xbox hardware ceases to exist in the future, expect a worse outcome for PlayStation users with higher console and game prices.

Even bad competition is better than no competition for consumers in the home console space.

I'm sure we can all try to reassure ourselves that a handheld hybrid and expensive gaming PCs will offer a threat to PlayStation but let's see how much the PS6 will cost. I'm certain it will be well over $500.

To be honest layoffs are not exclusive to Microsoft gaming.

The real issue here is Microsoft's mismanagement of studio development, strategy and clear marketing.

Even if the Activision buyout had been blocked, the same outcome would have occurred.

Lina Khan has no real credibility after failing to present a water tight business case against the merger, rather than try to paint the market leader Sony as a victim.

Sony has not been affected by Microsoft at all. In fact Sony has the same sales it always has from Cod, kept marketing deals and can now raise prices and do what it wants as the competition has crumbled.

The sad reality is that Microsoft only cares about software and profitable services.

Because they effectively own call of duty they can make 70% profit on every sale on playstation and steam. Xbox as a console and gamepass could die tomorrow and they would actually be better off profit margin wise . They brought these studios to be a publishing house when consoles fade. Satya Nadella has quickly realised game pass as a service is one which isn't going to be sustainable long term. I can imagine a pivot to cloud based gaming services with AI gaming software and the software publishing arm.

MS is a software first company after all.

Played the first few hours and I'm enjoying it so far.

After seeing the level of design and customisation that the Astro Bot, PS 30th anniversary edition, and the ghost of Yotei controllers have had, this is a big downgrade.

This gen has felt samey because we have seen a lot of sequels and remakes. I hope to see more new IP for the rest of this gen and the PS6 gen.

PS4 has earned it's rest.

I was on the fence about getting Yotei but I'm really enjoying it 10 hours in. The trailers do not do the upgrades to the game justice. There are so great graphical and gameplay improvements and the story is pretty decent too.

For now, PS+ looks decent, until they raise the prices, now Xbox is effectively no competition, so anything cheaper looks like a good deal. As a PlayStation gamer, I am genuinely worried about what PlayStation will do with no competition to keep them on their toes. If that PS6 is over £500, I will just have to get a PC.

When there is less market competition, consumers suffer for it.

SIE does pretty well when Herman Hulst isn't messing things up.

I'm curious to see if this hits its 2026 target.

Yotei will be another dated Ubisoft/Sony-style formulaic, smoothed-edge game that is very basic fun in the nicest possible way.

It's a game I aim to play, enjoy, and then forget about when the wave of 2026 AAA games hits.

I'll also add I wish more reviewers would use the base PS5 that 90% of owners have, rather than the PS5 Pro, which is way more niche than even the PS4 Pro was.

@Dogbreath, there are around 30 million Game Pass subscribers, 30 million Xbox Series consoles sold, and millions more on PC. Xbox is far from a "dead" platform. It has reasonably chosen to get the most money out of Game Pass subscriptions first before porting it over to PS5. Sony did the same with Helldivers 2, and it's what any sensible business would do.

I think it's best to wait for the reviews and ignore the drama.

I find some players seem to pick and choose what dramas to engage with for some kind of confirmation bias, which just takes away the opportunity to objectively review a game for what it actually is.

Not the best gen for games.

Makes sense to get the revenue for Game Pass subscriptions first, then port over. I think this will also happen for other premium titles like Fable and Gears of War E-Day. Stuff like Marvel Blade, could be day one as licensed games need to generate more revenue. Certain AA style games like the Outer Worlds 2 will go day 1 as they are not real subscription drivers.

MS will make good money with this port. esp with the PSVR 2 development

No surprise, Febuary seems to be rammed with AAA games every year. Soon, March and April will fill up too. Once the GTA 6 date is locked in we will see more of those 2026 titles drop dates (Sony and Microsoft included).

Really glad this one has an English dub, also the double pack looks good too. Roll on Feb 12th!

I'm expecting Wolverine as Push Square reported it's going to be soon via a leaker and said they wouldn't post it if they weren't confident.

I am only interested in Wolverine from a 1st party point of view, so I hope we get to see something of that.

The PS5 Pro is a beta test for PS6 - mainly the use of an AI upscaler to get better performance on cheaper hardware.

I will wait for reviews to see if they fixed the open world repetitiveness and added some unique new features beyond new weapons to set this apart from a GOT part 2. Also curious about the 30/60fps modes, as the creative directors refused to answer during a dev interview and just said they will "talk more about it later". I feel like just over a week out from launch is late enough.

If there are 6 slots, Yotei will get in before this game, even if it scores lower. GK loves Sony games. You can take that one to the bank.
