@EfYI Depends on what price the PS portable can get to and what kind of software it can run. If it can run GTA 6 and it's sub £500 it would sell very well.

@Kienda PS5 was never on sale in it's first 2-3 years though. And even at launch it cost £55 more to play physical games (now £85 at full price).

I don't expect this game to have a long tail unless it starts getting deep discounts.

@Kienda The Switch 2 is cheaper than a PS5 digital at regular price. Sony wouldn't be discounting it if it was new hardware.

I think if both consoles were available for the whole year then we all know who would be comfortably ahead. That would be expected of a now 5 year old console where exclusives software is far fewer. Sony has however had the benefit of having a full 6 months of sales plus several deep discounts of between £100 and now £140 in the UK.

Switch 2 will very likely outsell PS5 next year every month until October November when Wolverine and GTA 6 comes out. In November if GTA 6 launches the Series S will even outsell Switch 2 or anything other than PS5 if they stock up as PS5 sells out and people scramble to get any available console to play GTA6.

It's great to see this 10/10 game coming to other platforms. Exclusives are becoming less and less as we all get ever closer to open-access PC's rather than closed-off consoles. Don't get me wrong, I like my PS5 and Xbox, but the sound of a PC where I can play all the games (at a cheaper cost) and not pay for online or cloud saves does sound nice tbh. We should all appreciate home consoles while they are around because in a decade or less, it will be platforms on PC's/Mobile/Cloud/Handhelds instead.

@TrollOfWar Totally agree, there is a big enough audience of Xbox with 30 million console players and millions upon millions more on the Xbox PC platform.

It's a shame that there is no English dub for the recent remasters of Kiwami 1 & 2. That would have meant that Zero - Kiwami 3 would have English dubs.

Why are people so obsessed with how many consoles Microsoft sells? We know they don't care about consoles anymore, move on already lol. With the PS5, it's very much on sale every 2-3 months at a loss just so they can push those sales numbers. If you miss one for black Friday, it will be £300 again by February.

I typically buy the games when I want them. I'm an Atlus games are basically 90 MC or above like R* games, so I will buy them day 1.

@UltimateOtaku91 They are continuing with the contract with Xbox to launch games into Game Pass. Atlus launches with Persona 4 Revival confirmed for day 1 Game Pass.

The issue isn't the sequels - its the reduction in quality and lack of new IP that has been an issue. The writing in the first games of Spiderman, GOW, TLOU, and GOT was stronger than their sequels, for starters.

It's a game I bought have not found very interesting at all. It's functional, but it is in no way an RPG, and no choices you make have an impact. To top it off, it performs poorly on PS5. It's a game I will try to finish because I brought it.

I haven't played BL 1, so I had no expectations or reference point, but I have played other VTM games (I enjoyed Swansong), and this could have been called something more along those lines.

Most of the blame should be placed on Paradox, which already made some poor choices and seemingly badly mismanaged this IP and the dev studio.

I enjoyed Shadows at launch, but I like to finish my single-player games within a few months and move on to other new games. The thing about recent AC games is that they just drag on and on to the point I never actually finish them.

Great console and hardware accessories, but weak PS5 exclusive library tbh. It is by far the weakest software generation. And the removal of things like PS Stars and the huge GaaS failures haven't been great either.

The Gen will be over in about 2 years, and we will be lucky to see much more beyond Wolverine and Saros. I don't think ND will make it in time for the PS5 gen and move over to the PS6.

The highlights have been the tech innovation with the DualSense, the PS Portal, the DualSense Edge, and PSVR 2.

Improvements in cloud streaming and the restructuring of PS+ have also been decent too (although please make cloud saves free like Xbox!)

MS owns a decent-sized chunk of OpenAI, so they knew what was coming down the road, but home consoles aren't a part of their future plans.

Nobody realised that they spent their money on the mobile division rather than COD. Candy Crush and the mobile games make them a fortune that easily covers console/PC game losses.

I have a feeling they will shadow drop the Starfield update and any planned ports in the spring.

It's better than most of the stuff Sony publishes this gen, so of course it sold the most. It isn't a tired sequel or remake, which is a help.

Hopefully, they will take a lesson away from this to provide a much stronger entry next time. Ideally, you want both Battlefield and COD doing well and innovating, as they would push each other to do better, which benefits the players.

Most players aren't always online ultra fanboys who are COD vs Battlefield - they just want good games.

If you are a game developer you naturally want as many people to buy and play your game as possible.

Good metrics in financials and engagement is what keeps studios making games.

Hopefully Sony launches a PC launcher in the future if it wants to future proof it's ecosystem and game exclusivity beyond console.

As my backlog is already huge, I will just wait for Metroid Prime 4 now

You are lucky to get two Sony first-party developed PS5 single player games per year this generation; they are never doing three, haha.

Honestly, MS saw this coming but realised the smart move was not to buy up tons of RAM for consoles it won't/doesn't want to sell. Why would they waste that money? For Sony, it makes sense as they want to sell another 25-35 million consoles in the next couple of years to keep pace with the PS4 sales.

I am curious what the ranking would actually be if Nintendo's digital sales were added. I suspect DK Banaza, Mario Kart World, and Pokémon Legends Z-A would easily make the top 10 and maybe even the top 5.

If it costs more than $500 or £500, it will never reach the mass market and thus could never compete with the PS5 or Switch 2. It wouldn't even outsell the 30 million units the Xbox Series consoles have sold. It probably wouldn't even sell more than a few million if it's over that price point, considering its weak hardware, yet designed for hardcore gamers. We have seen all the promises of 4k 60 before, and if it is weaker than a PS5, then it really is game over, as you constantly have to fiddle with low/ultra-low settings and upscalers to get any sort of decent performance.

They, of course, might be going in their own lane and have a reasonable 5 million lifetime sales target to supplement their successful platform business, like the Steam Deck.

There is a trend of certain JP devs going Switch 2 exclusive/first - Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar, Guardians of Azuma, Disgaea 7 Complete and the upcoming YS Proud Noridics, to name a few. This would not have happened pre-Switch era, but now that Switch is so dominant in Japan, Sony needs to get a grip on that market.

Shame, as I just completed the game and have moved on to other games now. It would have been nice a couple of weeks back, closer to launch.

After the ending, I doubt I will go back now.

@Toot1st These days they always are, but that's what makes them the best because the quality of games and reveals are good and it's games all platforms can enjoy so the most amount of people will enjoy the show.

It definitely felt significantly scaled back to how I imagined it would be due to then they bigging it up too much in interviews beforehand.

They seem to be churning them out too quickly, and it's becoming a creativity and quality issue. They should take next year off regardless of if GTA 6 hits that November date or not.

This will already be significantly better than pretty much anything Sony has shown this year.

Regardless of anything else, Xbox always shows up with good showcases with games that all platforms are interested in.

I enjoyed Yotei, and that is probably in my top 5, depending on how well Metroid Prime 4 plays out.

Also, EE33 is a good game, but it's overrated. The story, writing, and music were great, but the game design was fairly poor despite a catchy dodge/parry system loop for souls-like fans (Story mode was unbalanced).

Let's be honest, Sony (and Herman Hulst) just doesn't want to remind people that it presided over the biggest media flop (not just gaming) in history.

I don't think Herman Hulst being demoted was enough tbh. The live service stuff has been a mess.

I can't wait to hear less about how E33 is the "best game ever".

In some instances, most retailers offer the DualSense and games at 10-15% lower prices in the UK. However, for items like the DualSense Edge, Portal, PSVR2, or PS5 Pro, this could be handy, as those are rarely available at a discount, if ever.

And March 2027 gives us an idea that Nov 2027 is effectively the end of the generation.

It really depends on the price and ease of use.

If it can get those things right, it will take market share from PS5 and maybe a bit from Nintendo, as Microsoft effectively has nothing more to take from in the next couple of years.

I see more and more millennials and Gen X gamers who had consoles since childhood moving over to PC.
