Big Updates on Massive Xbox Games, Bound for PS5, Later This Month

Super interested in the Fable reboot.

I thought beast of reincarnation was a simulation where the player manages the day to day reinvention of Microsoft and their games department..guess I was wrong.

Pretty sure they're gonna announce Starfield for PS5, it's in the pipeline already and a few more exclusives, maybe Avowed, all heading to PS5. I would be happy if they do.

I would like to add O.D to that list.

Edit: I keep forgetting about Beast of Reincarnation, obvs need to see more of it, but man that first impression was extremely positive.

I want to play the new Fable, but I'd probably pay £50 just for a vanilla port of the first game - it was revolutionary for me at the time.

Would love to see some of the older Xbox games get PS5 ports like the original fable and sunset overdrive.

Fable would be glorious, maybe Fable Anniversary too. I miss those wonderful games, and what we have seen looks promising

Not sure which is more baffling: an Xbox presentation where most/all content is PS-relevant, or Game Freak developing a game I actually want to see more of.

No shade intended at Xbox onwers - I was one, once - but surely calling a site Pure Xbox will soon become a misnomer?

Can someone translate "Xbox Developer Direct" for me? I understand the Xbox and Direct parts but does "developer" roughly translate to "first party" or "all parties" or "Independent" or something? I guess really my main concern is if this is going to be a game focused show for gamers or a techno babble show for other devs? You know, like 1 of those ASMR vids Cerny does that always puts me to sleep.😴

Usually these shows have the games presented by the Developers talking about their game, @rjejr. They do tend to feature quite a lot of gameplay, and not too much talking. The technical aspects don't really get much of a mention, at least not in any real depth. The might tell you the FPS, etc, but not much more than a passing mention. In this particular showcase, not all games are first-party...

@rjejr Developer Direct is when the developers give a deeper dive into the game, not just a teaser trailer, for games coming out this year. Each game is usually presented by the actual dev team making it (or one of two of them anyway) Its geared towards the public and not developers, so is not full of technical mumbo jumbo or anything like that

Beast of Reincarnation took my interest considering it's from Game Freak and I'm really interested to see more gameplay. I'm hoping this is the game that will finally break them out of being just a Pokémon dev to the eyes of many

Finally some news on Fable. Little disappointed its only three games though.

Have to say that I’m not really interested in Fable as I think it’s going to be pretty poor.

The small snippet we’ve seen up to now is certainly not promising.

For me, the main problem is that I don’t see where it fits into the 2026 RPG market. Things have moved on dramatically since the originals, we’ve had a lot of damn good games since then, and what was hot back then is not hot now.

I don’t have any faith in them reimagining it for the “modern audience“ without totally stuffing it up.

An Avowed port with a decent Pro upgrade would definitely get my money though, even though I already have it on game pass.

@Ken_Kaniff Every Developer Direct so far has had games not present in the announcement image. 2023 had the Hi-Fi Rush shadow drop, 2024 had more info about Visions of Mana and 2025 had the combo of Ninja Gaiden 2+4. So there’s likely 1-2 surprises.

Considering how well the fifth game is doing I'll be gabberflasted if they stick with their decision to delay Forza 6 on PS5.

What would be sweet is if in the future the program offered either PC/XBOX or PC/PS5. That would definitely be a "good guy" move lol. I highly doubt Sony would would allow it though.

Also, dang, I never realized how popular or wanted their titles actually were. They really could have done better in the grand scheme of things, just shows they really wanted to drop hardware all together. They probably would have years ago if they could have.

Ordinarily, we’d leave this news to our friends at Pure Xbox, but such is the state of Microsoft these days, we can be assured practically all of the software it shows will be coming to the PS5.

They’re just saying that normally they wouldnt be covering it, but since the state of Microsoft today is that their games are coming to PS5, they will be covering it.

You’ll tend to find negative intent in things, if thats what you’re really looking for though.

And i even understand why they preempt it with that, because as you can see in the comment section above, some are already mad that they are covering “Xbox” news.

Ironically, its comments like yours that tend to stir up console wars more than the article itself

also, xbox used to be on top of the console world man, they had everything going during that 360 run and squandered it. it depresses me to think about

@Brundleflies21 I would expect it's more to do with getting the PS5 dev kits later and needing more time to develop it.

@MrPeanutbutterz That is the easiest solution to their problem though. There are many, many Xbox games that will never be on PlayStation and if someone wants to play them they should buy an Xbox.

I'm fortunate that I have both platforms and don't have to miss out. Personally I would love to be able to play any game I want without having to buy multiple pieces of hardware but that isn't the world we live in. Yet.

I still ultimately believe that there won't be bespoke hardware from either Sony or Microsoft after the next Xbox and PS6 and we'll be able access any digital storefront we want from a generic PC in a box under our TVs. At that point all that will matter are the games and all of the pointless system loyalty can disappear. I cannot wait.

@nomither6 Wii smashed the 360 in terms of sales, PS3 overtook it and had vastly more daring games in the last few years of the generation (as did the Wii by default - Kinect was a lame attempt to emulate it and capture that audience).

360 was great, but never on top.

@SMJ I mean, that's true, but also impactical for a lot of people. Do I want to replay Forza Horizon 2 and 3 again? I sure do, but do I want an Xbox One sitting under my TV? And the effort of tracking down physical copies of those games (since they're long delisted)? Absolutely not. I'll just crack on with the considerable backlog of games I already have on formats I already own.

Like the other commenters, if those games somehow launched on PS5, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. But they won't, so "meh" to the alternatives.

We will see what more they show when ready. IP is one thing execution is another.

The Fable reboot sounds very nice.
It’s a pity they did not release the OG Fable 1/2/3 on PS5, these are lovely games.
