Yes!!! Finally! This game and South of Midnight looks really fun
I will definitely be getting this once it hits a sale.
Nah I’m going to have to pass on this.
I'm happy for people who are excited for this, but it's a no buy from me
I was very much looking forward to this until multiple people told me that the game is only fun for the combat but the excitement of it wears off rather quickly. Oh well, lol.
I've been looking forward to this since the first trailer. But also heard mixed things, so I'll probably wait for a sale, but really excited it finally made it over to PS!
I played some of this on Xbox I enjoyed what I played of it
I'll get this down the road. I know this might not have lived up to expectations, but it should be just fine when it's on sale.
Had a feeling this was going to be announced at that New Game+ showcase when I saw Obsidians name.
I played this on Series X and highly recommend it, it’s in my top 5 games of 2025. The combat is great and very flexible - eg you can have an axe in one hand and a wand in the other! Also, exploring the world is a joy, and going off the beaten path is often rewarded. I finished the game ages ago, but am looking forward to NG+.
I really enjoyed this game and am glad more people will get to play it. Obsidian had an amazing 2025.
So basically Xbox players are just beta test players at this point.
It's a very enjoyable game- it's basically The Outer Worlds in a fantasy skin. I played as kind of a battle mage class and the spells and magic weapon based combat was fantastic. Well recommended
Damn dude, Xbox is making a killing off of sony lol.
@Nightcrawler71 like roughly one age(s) ago? 😁
Was a great game for me on series x and really enjoyed, the more I played the more I got into it.
I played on series x with GPU.
Looks like Xbox studios is giving PlayStation a lot more love than Sony studios games wise in 2026.
Looking forward to getting hands on with this one, I love the world of Pillars of Eternity so I can't wait to go back
Nice, with this I've got - like - the first 25 % of this year booked out with games I'm excited about^^
@OldGamer999 Almost as though they bought 2 of the biggest Studios....
Edit: also forgetting about, Saros, Tokon, wolverine and I'm sure there will another couple announced throughout the year too
@11001100110zero
Off of Sony? I think you have it the other way around. Microsoft is the one that invested money in these games. Sony is the one making a killing of off Microsoft’s games 😅
@LogicStrikesAgain Bro forgot about the 30% Sony gets...
@OldGamer999
Lol dude, the year has just begun. We’re still getting Saros, Marathon, Marvel Tokon, MLB, Wolverine, and perhaps more from Playstation Studios. In addition, Sony also shows Playstation love by publishing or getting exclusives like Phantom Blade Zero, Nioh 3, Cairn, Chronoscript, Zero Parades, 4Loop, Loulan: The Cursed Sand etc.
Edit: And exactly as Oram77 said, they have like double the studios, and since all their games seem to be coming to PS5, it’s only natural to see more Xbox studios games on Playstation 😉
How does this compare to elders scrolls oblivion remake?
@11001100110zero third parties usually do
This is definitely a major yawn from me, but glad for those who want to play it.
I got more entertainment from Fleekazoid’s Avowed video than I could ever get from the game itself!
As for the game, i’m not really interested. The only Xbox game i have been interested in is Fable. Excited to see more of it in the upcoming Direct
I had a lot of fun with Avowed. Great, flexible combat system. Some well thought out quests. And actions that can have real impact on the game if you really engage with the world.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it!
@LogicStrikesAgain No need to act trigged little one. If I sold an item in a store for $70, where I had not originally, that would be an added sale.
If I keep 70% ($49) and the store keeps 30% ($21), I have just made money. If selling in that store, as compared to not before, is making money.
Is $49 per sale, compared to $0 not a profit? If I am making $49 per sale, now with additional sales coming in... Is that not "making bank"? Am I losing money? If I keep 49 and the store owner gets $21, he's still making more money than me each time?
@Oram77 Did I? I don't remember stating that? Could you show me?
@DennisReynolds unfortunately you can argue that is what their platform has turned into. With the current price of gamepass you need to play a lot to make it worthwhile. You can still technically get a better deal playing on gamepass but that deal has a lot of caveats at this point.
@DennisReynolds Such a stupid comment.
@Oram77 Not just studios, but whole publishing houses!
Should bloody well hope so they (as a now-third party mega publisher who) can show PlayStation some "love", or whatever the other poster you were replying to called it.
@SMJ Bugs are ironed out, QoL improvements abound, more content.
By all means, tell us how he's wrong?
@SMJ it was clearly tongue in cheek but there is merit to what was said. A better product launches later on PS.
@themaladroit I really enjoyed south of midnight...I thought avowed was garbage
@OldGamer999 its a bargain bin rpg with the immersion of a slice of malt loaf , I wouldn't pay more that 15 quid for it
@11001100110zero Lol, i’m not triggered. You’re the one randomly calling me “little one”.
Im not saying Sony makes more money on each sale. I dont even know why you bothered with that obvious calculation. You’re arguing against something i never even said.
My point was just about the wording you used. I’m not a native English speaker , but saying Microsoft is making money off of Sony implies that Sony is being taken advantage off, which is not the case.
Microsoft funds the games and Sony gets their cut risk free, making money off of Microsoft, rather than the other way around
@Americansamurai1 it doesnt I hated it , stupid npcs,crappy ai, boring quests, rushed rpg fodder, its proper crap
@MrPeanutbutterz Because the updates aren't part of a Beta testing programme. The developer is adding content and features post launch. Quite simple.
Might get this one day. Not soon though
@lazarus11 thanks, I'll pass on it then.
@SMJ Not really. The best version of these exclusives or timed exclusives from Xbox are the ones that hit PS5 a year after release. Hellblade launched on PS5 with 60fps straight out of the gate, Stalker 2 was mostly fixed and had more way content when it hit PS5, a lot of Flight Sims issues were fixed by the time it hit PS5. PS5 players are basically geting a better deal by having to wait.
@dschons I wouldn't give up entirely. From my time with it, I also really enjoyed it's exploration, and world. The narrative isn't bad either, just a touch stunted in it's delivery. It's pretty clear it was supposed to be Multiplayer for a good chunk of it's development before pivoting.
This game got crapped on for nothing. Its an absolute blast. Its gorgeous. The combat is chunky. The voice acting is phenomenal and the world feels lived in in a really weird way. If you were on the fence because the internet chose to crap on this i encourage you to give it a go. Obsidian is the Microsoft Insomniac imo. Output and quality are just there...always
@IamJT It's an update for a game released a year ago not a Beta test. Also, I played it on Game Pass, enjoyed it and then bought it for £15 with a Game Pass discount. I'll get the update for free.
I think it's a brilliant game and PlayStation only gamers should definitely play it. But the fact is that they'll all be paying full price.
@LogicStrikesAgain It's more like a bit of both. Sony is making money off Xbox's game, and Xbox are selling their games on all the consoles that Sony had to make and sell at a loss (I know they got them to the point wheee they were making money on each one for a time, but with the increases in RAM costs etc... there's no way thats still true) . So it's a bit of a trade.
@DennisReynolds Having to wait a year and then pay full price and give Microsoft money.
@Americansamurai1 Very different game from Oblivion Remake. More combat focused, certainly better in that regard. More of a set of 4 or 5 large zones that 1 large open world. More of a direct story RPG than just an open world sandbox like Oblivion. More focused, but also more static.
@LogicStrikesAgain chill man. Don't get upset. I read some of the first sentence you wrote. Idk if the rest was good.
@Stragen8 combat is really good but found the story a bit weak
@11001100110zero
Lol
Oh it’s better than good 😏
It’s on the ps store for £40 base game. At that price I’ll pre order even though I’ve played it before on Xbox. Solid game 8/10.
@LogicStrikesAgain And MS get 70% off every sale.. so yes they do make a lot of money off Sony's platform.
@Lysterao Yeah, that's what I've been told as well. That it feels like a single player MMO a lot of times and that the NPCs in towns, cities etc. are more or less lifeless, don't really follow a routine an such. Will probably try it anyway, I liked the Outer Worlds but I like the fantasy setting more and that's a bit what I'm hoping for here, combining the best of both worlds.
@darylb24 Lol, i’m not saying Microsoft doesnt make money, and i get that they make more from every sale. That’s not my point though, it’s the phrase that he used.
It seems like some people dont quite understand what the phrase “making money off someone” means. Sony doesnt have to change or fund anything when Microsoft puts its games on Sony’s ecosystem. That’s like saying EA is making money off of Sony, or a store owner makes money off the building owner just for selling in their building, it doesnt make sense.
When you say that Microsoft is making money off of Sony it implies that Sony is taken advantage of or something. Rather they are making money with Sony.
And if we really had to insist on one company making money off of the other, i’d say it’s Sony, because they are just cashing in without taking any risk.
But this has become a whole semantics discussion. So, lets just leave it at that. Geez, and they say i’m triggered 😅
@darylb24 But they paid a ludicrous amount in the first place for these studios and then had to pay for the games' development. So they're slowly trying to recover enormous losses rather than making any money. Meanwhile Sony paid nothing and so it's just pure profit for them.
Hell yeah I’ve been waiting for this to be announced def getting it day one
Lol… shills still coming with that Xbox making so much money off of Sony skit. No wonder this world is so ****ed! 🤪
I may be wrong about this, but don't the NPCs in this game just stay in place? I think I remember that this game has a day/night cycle, and that you can advance time, but the NPCs just stay locked in place. Like a remnant of it being an online thing, originally...
That's like having a kill/death ratio come up when you finish sidequests.
@SMJ you can disagree and not be a big meanie head.
I called it in another comment on the upcoming Xbox showcase. Well, I was right… and I immediately preordered cause I loved The Outer Worlds, both 1 and 2. Now if Starfield comes over to PS5, the sci fi loving geek that I am will be very happy.
@graymamba I bet they have tears running down their faces whilst writing these comments 😂.
At the end of the day Microsoft are just giving more reasons for new console gamers not to choose Xbox.
They might be "making" money off playstation sales, but they are losing money by losing potential Xbox console buyers who would then spend even more money on their store and maybe subscribe to gamepass. In the long run it's hurting them financially.
@Oram77 sure but xbox still makes a killing on ps they probably made a load of forza on ps alone and that was several years old by the time it came to ps.
@UltimateOtaku91 aye, incredibly dense yet so transparent
#gamingbarz
@SMJ and? How many games see a big drop in price in only a year? Isn't Spider-Man 2, GT7 and still full price?
@UltimateOtaku91 Thanks for that. Let's get on with the MS CFO, you and me and we can give our financial projections.
@UltimateOtaku91 Sony wins. You have won. MS/XBOX is a 3rd party publisher. They lose. MS loses. Be happy. You may or may not want to play the games. But at least you have your PS5 box and NS2 to validate yourself. I can't imagine how proud you feel about yourself. Good for you.
@LikelySatan I really liked this. 😂
@DennisReynolds You're acting like PS5 players are the only ones that get the benefits of these updates.
I played this (or at least tried) on my Series X. This game is horrible. Just a heads up. I cannot imagine what improvements they could make that would fix it. I didn't find that there were technical issues. It's just a bad game.
I'm always rooting for the folks at Obsidian (I've met many of them over the years, and they are lovely people), but this one did not click for me at all, sadly.
Happy it's priced at $49.99 too. I'll give it a go at that price.
I played it through GamePass. Great combat, underwhelming plot and the cities are completely lifeless. NPCs barely walk and the cities don't look lives in. It's the opposite of what you would expect of traditional Obsidian.
I would wait for a discount on this one.
@DennisReynolds This isn’t about the platform. All those benefits you described await any gamer willing to wait a year or two to get and play most games. They are just better that way - more stable, more features, more polished. And usually much cheaper.
Nice! Will definitely check it out; looks and sounds fun! Man, Xbox are giving us all their toys, and Sony is giving them very little (other than Helldivers 2, which was a nice move). I know Sony doesn’t have to, so they won’t, but still.
Ou... La la. No thanks.
I'm an open minded guy but I have my limits.
This "rpg" is not a good one.
But yeah, you have to be logical: the studio which made some great games few decades ago, is not the same in 2025. New employees are not very gifted... But that's life.
@Romans12 agreed !
And this "cancerous" Unreal Engine 5 is not helping either... I guess this generation of consoles is old now (5 years...).
For anyone interested, just a reminder that all MS games go on sale in like a month after release. Gears of War was already on sale for £19.99 in December. So plan accordingly.
Damn, no third person?
Oh hell yeah, been waiting for this, loved it on Xbox
I never really got the hype for this one. It looks like an Elder Scroll but doubling down on the bits that I don't care about in Elder Scrolls and not doing the thing I do care about in Elder Scrolls.
@timbo87 you can switch on the fly
@Attheendwearrive amazing. I look forward to picking this up then! Thank you
@LogicStrikesAgain
Did you just use Marathon and MLB to prove Sony is releasing games this year? Duuuude…
@UltimateOtaku91 didn’t MS change their strategy long term? allowing external stores, free multiplayer and PC games support makes their next console quite tempting open system vs the close narrow like Sony has. Considering some Sony games are going to PC, and their first party lineup being quite.. copy-paste-repeat, it can actually be a good strategy.
I mean I am happy some people might be interested in another Horizon Zero West, Spiderman 3, 4, or Ghost of 3, 4.. but I feel for last few years their lineup is just like playing the same again and again. Hybrid system with PC support might be quite a refreshing thing.
@SMJ he not lying we get the better version of the games Xbox got lmao they are technically beta testers lol
@Leinad7 those are two games they own them and are getting released this year they may not be made for u but we have alot first party games coming out this year
@Slayer25c They are no more beta testers than PS5 gamers who buy PS5 games day one. It is "technically" true-ish, but it's true for every game that releases, on any system. Waiting is always better.
@Slayer25c I know, but using Marathon as argument is like using Concord as argument. Let’s not pretend this will sell well. I suppose they will close it’s servers in 6 months anyway.
@DennisReynolds I think it's an extremely narrow view to call Xbox gamers 'beta testers'. Most games these days have polishing done or dlc released within a year. And Sony have had a LOT of timed exclusives themselves. History has shown that for a large proportion of single player games that unless you release within the initial Zeitgeist the majority of normal players aren't bothered by a new platform release. For example the final fantasy pc releases. There is always a new shiny toy.
@DennisReynolds So by that logic, are PS5 players beta-testers for timed PlayStation exclusives that come to Xbox? Take FF16, for instance. That game launched on Xbox with all DLC included for $70, while PS5 players who bought the game at launch had to spend upwards of $100 to get all the expansions included.
A similar case could be made for games like Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop, Zenless Zone Zero, and Helldivers 2, which received content updates to coincide with their Xbox debuts.
Or does this logic only work one way?
@Oram77 How come fella? Mind you as soon as I saw the word "Obsidian" I went all Han Solo quote. I love the cover art though that is pretty impressive. But cover art does not a game selleth.
@Leinad7
We we’re talking about Xbox and Sony studios games, thats why i mentioned them. Or do they not count as Sony studios games because you don't like them?
Why is this site overrun with anti Sony sentiment? Can’t say anything around here anymore without getting policed
@LogicStrikesAgain it ha nothing to do with Sony or Xbox sentiment. Marathon is just a really bad example to mention. It is their game, but it is not a good neither awaited game.
@Leinad7 When discussing Sony studios games, of course those game will be included. Why? Because they’re Sony studios game.
We werent talking about personal preference or anything, you seem to get these two things conflated. If i were to list all Xbox studios games, i cant just leave out everything im not interested in, and say that those games dont count
@Leinad7
This is such disingenuous nonsense. Copy+Paste critique that someone else taught you to regurgitate to push their fake narrative.
There's been like 2 main Horizon Games, 3 Spider-man games(including the spin-off Miles Morale) and 2 Ghost games(set in different time periods with different protagonists).
Whereas other big publishers, like EA, Ubisoft, Activision are all onboard the yearly release of major franchises, mostly sports games and shooters. What is Microsoft releasing next year? Their big push is a Halo remake, the 6th game in a racing series, the 6th gears game and reboot of Fable. Oh and a CoD game that people now consider a legitimate game that it's owned by MS(shocker!)
What is it with people today, does anyone still have any sense around here? Its like a dense jungle of cognitive dissonance, bias and poor reasoning skills
@Oram77
I think 2026 will be the best and probably the pinnacle year for Xbox studios and GPU in this current console generation, including games for other platforms as well.
2027 could be good as-well depending on what pans out and any new hardware releases be it Xbox or PlayStation.
However cross generation games will feature even more for Xbox and Sony when they move into next generation.
I can actually see from both Sony and Xbox and third party studios releasing major AAA titles for cross generation next generation for the whole generation.
This current generation was just a cross generation warm up.
@Leinad7 Yet this Year Xbox will release yet another Forza, Halo, Gears and Call of Duty, if these games are popular then of course they are going to stick with them just like a Sony and Nintendo do with certain IP's, infact I can't remember the last time Nintendo brought out a brand new IP, Splatoon maybe? 10 years ago. But that doesn't matter because these games are still great and fun to play doesn't matter if the IP has been used many times as long as the games are well done.
And yes if the rumours are true then the next Xbox maybe be an open system but at what cost, £1000 plus is something casuals will not pay, especially after this shambles of a gen. Even the next Playstation will flop at those prices.
Yup, I've seen this movie before.
No physical=no deal
I'm asking too much in wanting this to be PSVR2 compatible, aren't I? 😅
@SeaDaVie
Of course we have seen the movie before.
It’s the same saga as when will Naughty Dog release their one NEW game per generation for the PS5.
By the way I don’t really care and just having fun, but both Sony and Xbox have definitely not had a vintage generation this time round.
Also I don’t think Nintendo with a vintage generation with the switch 2, compared to the mighty switch 1.
Already we are living in different times to the mighty and best ever PS4 era, which I Totally adored by the way.
@SMJ He didn't mean it literally...
@SMJ No i'm saying PS5's first experience with the game will be better then Xbox/PC players first experience. It would be like if Spidey 2 hit Xbox they would be getting a better first experience because all the improvements and added content is there from the start.
@Questionable_Duck My jokey comment really triggered some people didn't it? 😂
Fantastic news. By far the best first person RPG combat I have ever experienced.
The more people exposed to that, the better.
It will kill off Bethesda's joke of a system. Once everyone has experienced Avowed combat, Bethesda are cooked and will have no choice but to bring the next TES into alignment.
