@MasterChiefWiggum When PS5 and PS5 Pro sell out, people will turn to the Xboxes no matter the price. They will both make a fortune when that game comes out. It's the most anticipated game of all time, the one all the casuals want to play, and it's not on PC for a while .
I have tried my hardest to overlook my concerns about the game and some of the staff who have worked on it, but something feels wrong. I wish I could easily just "separate the art from the artist", but having one of the artists' literal faces all over the game does not feel right at all. I am really quite concerned with the studio culture of SP going all the way up to the 2 creative directors. I do wish I could be someone who just "forgets it all" and just enjoys the game, but it feels like seeing how chicken nuggets are really made - it just puts you off, even though you loved them before.
I'm looking forward to this game! The £49.99 for the 6 clans feels fair enough, and I try not to get too wrapped up in the pricing strategy beyond whether I think it is worth it. I would presume most of the site viewers are old school fans who weren't going to buy it anyway.
It's not a great look, but fortunately, the majority of people who were going to get a PS5 now have one. There are only a couple more years left of this gen, and the PS5 will be able to limp to 100 million units by then.
The demo was enjoyable overall. It's not quite up there with the 10/10 JRPGs, but I think I will have a good time with this one. The main issue for this game is that Yotei is out the day before. I don't mind juggling between the 2 games, but a lot of casual gamers like to play one game at a time and really rinse it before moving on to the next AAA game.
Feels kind of wild that I am looking forward to this DLC more than Yotei. I will pick up Yotei soon, but it just reminds me a lot of Tsushima, which I played 5 years ago. The stories between Shadows and Yotei are also basically the same.
The writing in B4 is an improvement on the previous 3 and TTW. The gameplay loop is marmite. If you enjoy looting chests and waiting to see what kind of drops of gear you get then you will enjoy this game. The gameplay is also quite broad, with 4 very different styles to choose from.
Having played 20 hours solo so far its a solid 8/10 for me as I like the gameplay loop and world design.
Glad to see this Series going multiplat. 3rd party games should never be money-hatted by SIE again to cover the lack of 1st party games that have been released.
The PS5 generation has been very rinse and repeat, with original IPs and non-sequels/remakes few and far between. I am glad that Sony is now finally moving to some new original single-player IP after 5 years of mostly stuff I played in the PS4 gen, but at a higher fps.
They must have excellent availability this time, as I was just able to grab a gold DualSense to add to the 30th anniversary addition I'm getting at the end of September.
Played a few hours of the game and so far I'm really enjoying with only that 2017 entry as a reference point.
The AI for the trees and foliage is actually done by Speedtree, which have been been supporting video games and films for over 20 years. Steam now has stricter rules on revealing the use of AI but expect to see the tag a lot as a lot of games use Speedtree to save on time and cost for lower budget games.
I think I will enjoy GTA 6 more than any other game this gen, but First Light will be a day one buy, though.
My top anticipated games of 2026 are:
1. GTA 6
2. Crimson Desert
3. 007 First Light
4. Fable
5. Bus Bound
6. Road Kings
7. Lego Batman
8. Star Wars Zero Company
9. The Blood of Dawnwalker
10. Pragmata
Outside contenders based on release date:
Wolverine, Gears of War E-Day, Clockwork Revolution, New Forza Game, New RGG game, New Game Freak Game.
I'm not a Resident Evil fan, but that is also another big game for 2026.
And that's what we know about.
If 90% of all those games stick to a 2026 launch date, it will be one of the greatest gaming years in modern gaming.
I really enjoyed the show. It is a lot like Hitman with added mechanics and a 007 skin, but that is what I expected, and I think I will enjoy this one. Any performance issues can be ironed out in the next 6 or so months.
Sure, the prices have gone up, but we are well into the generation now, and there are over 80 million PS5s in people's homes. If you can't meet your software expectations with that much hardware, that's on YOU, Capcom.
The install base is there and already paid up on hardware. If the Software is good, players will buy it in the millions.
The game that keeps on giving because they had to spend 5 years fixing it and have only just started dev for the next one, which won't be out this decade, haha.
I want to see more of this game, so a showcase will be welcome.
I cannot say I am surprised that there is not a more standard State of Play or Showcase, as they have nothing 1st party to show yet. Right now, the Saros game is the only thing that MIGHT make 2026 with Wolverine still in development and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet looking like a PS6 launch title.
With PS6 launching in around 2 years, I would expect no more than 1-2 1P games with some 2P publishing deals and some 3P timed exclusivity deals between then. Jim Ryan did a number on single-player games for this generation with that live service strategy, and now we have to wait it out.
That would be great if these prices turn out to be accurate for console! There are instances when PC games especially indie ones are slightly more expensive on consoles but even so it would be a great price.
@AndroidBango, they certainly did not need to do that, as goodwill was already in short supply. Rather than price the game at £50 for the base and £75 for the cut DLC, they should have just priced the game at £60, and they could have avoided all the bad optics.
If it is as good as it looks, it will be a good complementary game to ATS and ETS. Saber has created some very impressive vehicle and terrain-related games in the past. They also have the benefit of licensed vehicles (a Peterbilt truck in the trailer). I have been playing ATS and ETS for years on my gaming laptop, but I have never played Road Kings.

Neither console is worth it; Sony is just reducing the storage to keep costs down.

For once? Sony discounts the price of the PS5 4 -5 times a year in the UK, haha.

@LikelySatan, Everyone has the right to differ in opinion, so yes, it's perfectly "cool" as you say.

@Northern_munkey Only a couple more years until PS6 launches.

Will probably get this and leave Yotei

Wolverine is the one I am really interested in. Nothing else on the horizon 1st party is interesting me at the moment.

@Oram77 No confirmation of an SOP yet, just rumours at this point.
Re: Round Up: Borderlands 4 Reviews All on PC, No PS5 Verdicts Anywhere
The game runs well on Series X with a locked 60fps so hopefully that translates to PS5 too!

Everybody's Golf Hotshots - I am having a lot of fun with it!

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on 007 First Light?
I'm looking forward to it a lot! I do hope the performance and use of motion blur are optimized over the next 6 months or so, though.
I also wonder how this will run on Switch 2, haha.
Re: Wolverine PS5 to Finally Be Revealed in Next State of Play, It's Claimed
I would expect this when Sony does their next showcase, which will be next June, because they don't really have much to show for 1P right now.

I am looking forward to:
Everybody's Golf Hotshots
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Remake
EA FC 26
Train Sim World 6
Digimon Story Time Stranger
Ghost of Yotei
VTM 2 Bloodlines
Ninja Gaiden 2 (Game Pass)
The Outer Worlds 2 (Game Pass)
My broad taste in video games means my wallet suffers sometimes, and my backlog never slows down.
Re: Form Your Own Opinion on Lost Soul Aside with Free PS5 Demo

I expect around a £5/$ uplift for consoles.
Re: Sony Opens Up Ghost of Yotei PS5 Console, Accessories Pre-Orders Next Week
I got the 30th anniversary controller pre-ordered for £70, so I will probably pass on the Yotei controllers, although they look nice.
Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Finally Out on 4th September
@somnambulance Yeah I didn't really enjoy E33 that much compared to other games. The story mode was very poorly balanced at launch too.
Re: Ys X: Nordic's Controversial Re-Release Skips PS5 for Switch 2 and PC
I would have presumed most PS5 owners would have a Switch/Switch 2 for the JRPG crossover haha
Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Finally Out on 4th September
@somnambulance I wouldn't be mad if Silksong beat E33 to game of the year tbh.
Re: PS5 Price Increases Confirmed for USA, Effective 21st August
$750 for the pro is a big oof. I am lucky I got my PS5 on a £100 discount during a summer sale.

I will buy the base game as I am interested in it, but I will not be paying more for the DLC.
