Its comical how big it's install file is and even without the fact it would require 2 discs, I'm sadly not surprised at all that they couldn't be bothered to make it a true physical package
I'm glad to see this is off to a good start. I've been a survival horror fan since the original Resident Evil back on the PS1 and Silent Hill was a very welcome addition to the genre. Back in the 90's, Konami were easily, alongside Capcom, the best 3rd party publishers and its great to see both Konami and Silent Hill back in action
"The rumour continues that the project will supposedly use a “hybrid engine” approach, fusing the original code with Unreal Engine 5, similar to the recent The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which we suppose makes sense"
Well it would make sense if Oblivion wasn't such a technical disaster and I don't really see how this would better the Master Chief Collection version if it was still the original game underneath.
That aside, there was a time when Halo moving to Playstation would have been huge news but sadly today, Halo arguably isn't even among Xbox biggest IP with Forza Horizon and even Sea of Thieves easily surpassing its player count on Steam
@Clytorial_Impact the shimmering was the worst part and thats been gone for a long time now, whilst the performance issues wouldn't be that noticable on a VRR display anyway
Yeah Gamepass is utterly worthless to me now, I mean, how many people who are actively playing day 1 triple A games really cares about Fortnite? Add to that EA i have no interest in and old Ubisoft games are always dirt cheap, so this is now pointless for me and very poor value
I'm really looking forward to the remake of Silent Hill 1, which needed it way more than the 2nd game. Hopefully by then the Pro will have FSR 4 support, so won't have the familiar UE5 issues with it's upscaler.
Oh and speaking of which, aren't they meant to still be working on a fix for SH2?
Quite why anyone listens to this clueless idiot is beyond me, even video streaming services are struggling to increase subscribers amd are having to monetise in other ways.
As for gaming, you cannot compare it to music or movies due to the interactive nature and this alone renders streaming worthless for the vast majority.
Look at Xbox, they've had their full suite of games on Xcloud for years on billions of devices, yet their subscription numbers have barely changed
@Bez87 that's just saying reviews are subjective, which they are. I was a teenager back when the PS1, Saturn and N64 releasesld an had played several, significantly better 3D platformers long before the original version of this released. Even today my 8 year old son, loves Astro Bot, DK Bananza and Kirby but played Pac-Man Repac for only about 5 minutes.
That doesn't diminish your own experiences, just like yours don't mean a review is wrong and to be fair, this review isn’t targeting very young children either
These games were only ever ok at best in the world they originally released in and even as a huge fan of the genre, they aren't something I've ever replayed and with the Galaxy games right around the corner, it'll be some time before I even consider this
It looked like a lot of things, from Death Stranding to John Wick, a bit of TLOU and some Resident Evil and my concern would be if it truly understands any of them or if they just think imitating them somewhat would be sufficient.
At least by now, people will be totally normal about this game.......
OK, nevermind. In any case, this is an outstanding game, arguably the best Playstation exclusive ever made with significantly better gameplay than its predecessor and just being one of the best 3rd person stealth/action ganes I've ever played. If you have the PS5 Pro, it truly shines on that machine
I'm playing Sonic Racing Crossworlds and having an absolute blast, even more so now I've unlocked Super Sonic Speed. To me the handling feels somewhere between a normal kart racer and Sega's own classic arcade racing games
I certainly will be at some point. I'm a big fan of the original Silent Hill and it's sequel and really enjoyed the remake. Though I never played further in the series and I was on the fence a little bit about this, but I accidentally caught a stream which was a few hours in and yeah, what I saw certainly increased my interest in this
I was happy to see Wolverine has gone for a more violent tone than the Spider-Man games and is looking very good. Also, finally GT7 is getting 2 fantastic new and proper race tracks in Yas Marina and Gilles Villeneuve and it was a bit of a shame the Mega Man content for Sonic had already been leaked but it does look cool.
The only other interesting new announcement was the speakers, which I'll probably get
At this point I'd much rather have new tracks added to the game, I'd argue that Grand Valley was the last notable release in this regard. Sure I think that snow track came after but nobody really races on that and Eiger Nordwand is terrible outside of karts and even that came over 12 months ago now.
I am more than happy with my PS5 Pro with many of my games having noticeable upgrades or performance improvements, that a minority of outliers (that even overall usually still look better anyway) doesn't spoil
Whilst Borderlands 4 does have PS5 Pro support, it just doesn't mention it for some reason but it has a 4K HUD, extended LODs, improved texture filtering and higher internal and output resolutions.
Yes there have been a minority of games with issues but by and large most games just look and run better. I regularly replay the RE Remakes and there's a night and day difference in their RT modes, the upcoming RE9 is looking very promising on it. I'm currently replaying TLOU and it looks and runs outstanding on the Pro, GT7's VR mode is a huge upgrade, as is HFW, Stellar Blade, FFVII Rebirth etc
PSSR does seem to have more limited use in terms of input resolution and seemingly not playing nice with UE5 but I'd expect these issues to be gone with the FSR update
Growing up, the 3D platformers on the N64 were amongst my favourite games and today my favourite genre, so I backed the original version of this and whilst it didn't quite live up to those games, the potential was clearly there. So I'm downloading the demo right now
The paid dlc was looking pretty poor for this but Pac-Man and Mega Man have rescued it somewhat and brilliant news having NiGHTS confirmed, gives me hope we'll get some more classic Sega representation further down the line
This is what I want added at some point, the unlockable Ages vehicle from Transformed, part Hornet, part After Burner and part Dreamcast controller, House of The Dead stage optional 😆
@ShogunRok Crash Team Racing should have targeted 60fps even on PS4, it's kinda comical that Nintendo make great looking 60fps MK games on much weaker hardware
@get2sammyb same, I couldn't care less about Turtles or Spongebob these days, Pac-Man looks cool though. Hopefully they bring more classic Sega characters and tracks over time
I've enjoyed the demo's of this but am still on the fence as to whether to get this. I think one thing will bug me is that the 4th race in a championship is just the 3 races you've already done combined and I wish they'd lean more into Sega's past, whether that be Sonic R or like Transformed did with various Sega IP.
I'd imagine that this time of year, that sales won't be huge either way and I'd expect AAA games to sell better on PS5 purely for performance reasons (alongside the obvious larger market share at the moment).
It'll be interesting to see how this swings over Christmas and when that Pokemon bundle launches next month.
For me, I have both and have plenty to look forward to on either side, well after I finish yet another replay of The Last of Us on my Pro after finally watching the rather excellent tv show
Imagine that, targeting the popular platforms out there and ensuring your game runs well on that. Take notes Randy Pitchford and stop blaming people's hardware for your unoptimised mess of a game
@Arkz Sony themselves are literally talking about it being a feature to reduce power and performance in demanding games, not stuff like Hollow Knight. They even have 3 examples in Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei and Demon's Souls, so its clear what the focus of this is.
Which brings me back to my original comment, I see no reason why I would ever use this
@Arkz Less demanding games already use less power, whether that be on console or PC, this is about reducing performance in demanding games as per the blog
"When you turn on this option, supported PS5 games will scale back performance*** and will allow your PS5 to reduce its power consumption. If not enabled, or if games do not support the feature, the performance will not be scaled back and power consumption will not be reduced"
No, back then I was still playing Mega Drive and SNES then went the Saturn route first. I did play one round at a friend's house and that was when I discovered Resident Evil and became a lifelong fan of that series.
It was the impending release of Resident Evil 2 which convinced me to get a PS1, a game that would become one of my all time favourites and I had a great time with others such as Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Destruction Derby, Die Hard Trilogy, Tekken, Ridge Racer and more.
Overall I love that time in gaming and have fond memories of the end of the 16 Bit era and the jump to Saturn, PS1 and N64 and absolutely love all 3 of them
I can already control what games my son can and cannot play and as for spending, there is no payment information saved to his account, as for how long he spends playing, I do this thing called talking and ask him to turn it off. Whilst these apps can be useful, they do seem like an alternative to actually paying attention to your children

@Oram77 for the reason I wrote in my comment, I simply won't have the time to play both, at least not until probably after Christmas
