Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage is out now on PS5, and it's almost certainly worth checking out if you already own Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown on PS4.
That's because existing owners can upgrade to World Stage for a fairly cheap $9.99 / £7.99 on the PS Store.
The game costs $19.99 / £15.99 otherwise, although there's a much pricier '30th Anniversary Edition' — which includes previously released DLC — going for $49.99 / $39.99. Plenty will argue that said DLC should probably have been included in the base upgrade to begin with.

So what's new in the PS5 re-release? Well, there's the single player, campaign-like World Stage mode, which utilises AI opponents based on real-world players. It's not far off what Tekken 8 has been doing with its 'Ghost' data.
The game's training mode has been expanded as well, and replay functionality lets you revisit fights and work out what you got horribly wrong. All of the online modes support full crossplay and rollback netcode, too.
Oh, and weird boss character Dural is now playable, if you're into that kind of thing. It's also got a fresh Trophy list, but without a Platinum, it looks rather thankless — unless you really, really enjoy the grind.
Will you be dipping into World Stage? Will this PS5 re-release ease the long wait for the new Virtua Fighter? Remember to side step in the comments section below.
