They need to get over it, Xbox is effectively a giant 3rd party publisher now and that's before even considering that Doom existed long before Xbox and would be here regardless of the acquisition
Even with Gamepass it seems this has sold very well, it's currently up around 120,000 concurrent players on Steam and top of the best sellers on the PS store in the UK
@GnomishViking you should turn off the SSR anyway as its broken, hold a weapon up whilst looking at the water and you'll see it being reflected, even across a huge lake 😅
It's standard UE5 performance unfortunately, for what is a pretty dreadful engine in several ways.
That's said I'm still having an absolute blast with it and it runs way better than Skyrim did on PS3 at least 😂. I rather like the new animations and the overall look but the SSR is pretty poor and has very distracting artefacts and thankfully can be turned off. I've also had a few crashes so far, so overall I'd say its a very faithful remaster of a Bethesda RPG, now excuse me whilst I get lost in its world for a few hundred hours
Bethesda RPG's are amongst my very favourite games so I picked this up as soon as I could. I did play through this back on the PS3 but have rarely returned to it as Skyrim became the one I replayed multiple times, so I'm very excited to play through this again.
These days I rarely have time to play such long games but this is one that I will make the time for. I'm only a couple of hours into it but calling it a remaster is under selling it, certainly from a visual standpoint and so far it's run very well on my PS5 Pro
Yeah I'd say Forza Horizon is certainly the best in its genre, though personally I feel FH4 is better than 5, partly because the progression system in 5 isn't nearly as good. Still, overall it's a fantastic arcade racing game, especially online with some friends, or in my case, many hours spent playing with my son
I'm really looking forward to this but to be honest, I couldn't care less about the story. Doom is just about shooting demons and monsters with big guns and this looks to have that in abundance
I'd love to see such a device but I'd be amazed if memory bandwidth was the only limiting factor for it running PS5 games. In any case, games will have to be patched to work on such a thing, so its not likely to be compatible with the full library, though it should play all PS4 games at least
I mean, I'm happy they're still working on it for the few hundred people still playing it but I don't see anything here that even remotely tempts me to try it
@themightyant there is on Sonys own website but despite raising the price of the digital PS5 at the same time as this announcement, they are yet to reduce the price of the disc drive there
@ChrisDeku hopefully they'll actually keep a decent level of stock of it. Although looking at the Playstation direct site, it seems the PS5 digital has gone up in price but the drive hasn't actually gone down yet
I said when the PS5 Pro was announced that it was looking likely that any next gen console may be moving into pricing territory of being prohibitively expensive for many.
Here we are with the PS5 receiving its second price increase since launch and now £70 more expensive than back then.
Despite all the fuss over Switch 2 recently, this was never just a Nintendo problem but an industry problem
I just have no interest in this kind of game, I loved the first Destiny but never really got into the second and without any single player content I don't care about this one
@kyleforrester87 I've not got round to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 but 2 was outstanding and showed that you can do these huge sprawling JRPG's in 3D and as one game
I feel the same as back then, it's a decent game with far too much filler to extend what is a very small part of the original and I still don't feel it needed to be (or benefits from) a trilogy
It's a step in the right direction but I'd much rather have the option of having them in place permanently across the entire home screen. I don't need a pop up of every game I happen to scroll by
It didn't take long for the "last gen" nonsense comments to appear when Nintendo have already shown games like Metroid Prime 4 running at 4K60FPS and 1080p 120fps and of course the fact that it's a handheld.
Clearly it was never going to be a match for PS5 but it certainly has some advantages over PS4 and Pro for that matter. As pointed out here, it is running the updated version of FFVII and Cyberpunk actually works on it and is the version 2 of the game which is even more demanding to run.
And I've got to be honest, I find Metroid, Donkey Kong and Mario Kart way more visually appealing then many games I've seen on this current generation
You forgot the part where PS4 controllers don't work on PS5 games and they bumped up prices between their generations as well.
But I'm not going to sit here and argue which is less ***** than the other, when the only question that matters is if this product, game or whatever represents value to you
@Matroska yeah me and the Mrs went out recently for some food and drinks with friends and it cost us about £100. So me spending £75 on a Mario Kart I'm going to be playing for a decade isn't a big deal. Although it actually cost me £35 bundled with the Switch 2
I think I've got to the point where I just don't care anymore, I've got less time to play games these days so I'm far more picky anyway. So if it's a game series I'm already a fan of and I know I'm gonna love it and play a lot, then the price doesn't actually matter that much to me. These days it costs me £30 and upwards for a take away, so me spending £10 extra on a game I might spend 100's of hours playing isn't that big of a deal to me
@ShogunRok Mario Kart World alone is enough for me, I think about 2 thirds of my time on the current Switch has being on Mario Kart. Granted, that and Donkey Kong seem to be doing much of the heavy lifting around launch with plenty of 3rd party stuff I've already played or ignored, BUT, if I could have hand picked 2 games for me, these would have been at the very top of the list
Day 1 for me with Mario Kart and Donkey Kong jumping straight the the top of my most anticipated list for this year. It's a shame the screen is LCD but 120hz and HDR will still make it worthwhile to play handheld. I can't wait
@Oram77 same, I don't know how many is on mine but I never even knew there was a limit. If anything, I seem to remove games from my wishlists more than I add them these days as I realise that I've often had multiple opportunities to get them cheap and never bothered and likely wouldn't ever get round to playing them
I'm all for this approach, I'd much rather see new entries for for these games and for many of them it makes sense to be on Switch as well to attract a broader audience
And I've not added a single game through the service, those I was interested in such as Robocop and Turtles, I bought a long time ago. So, whilst I would say that there have been some good releases on it, for me it's largely worthless as I don't really play games this way
@Northern_munkey I'm talking about PS5 games, so many peripherals like arcade sticks or wheels don't work on PS5 games unless white listed by the developers, when there is no reason whatsoever why Sony shouldn't just let them work
I'm excited for this but I'll have to buy it for Switch because of Sony's nonsense of not allowing PS4 controllers to work on PS5.
For this kind of game, I like to use my arcade stick but because of this issue, it simply doesn't work on PS5 games, despite the identical button layout
@TheArt yeah the concept of generations is now a thing of the past and with the likes of Switch 2 just coming to market along with the influx of PC handhelds, I feel PS5 will be supported well into the distant future alongside any PS6
This game badly needs some new tracks, I mean Eiger Nordwand was a nice to have but it's not a good track to race on and the daily races seem to have settled into a repeating pattern of a handful of tracks and combos. Even Sophy has been downgraded since it's first reveal and isn't as quick as it should be
Sadly I think modern arcade games in general are severely lacking compared to what we used to have. The cabinet itself looks impressive but that gameplay was hugely underwhelming. This is why I have my Sinden Lightgun to play them on PC and I might get that Time Crisis Arcade 1up cabinet
These days I much prefer smaller more focused games, part of that is that I struggle to find the time to play a massive open world games as well as said games rarely justifying their length with worthwhile content
@awp69 for me personally it isn't about that, by all means have a more expensive version with extra content but there is no reason to have 2 release dates and pretend that the 2nd of those is the actual release date
I've recently bought the Arcade 1up Street Fighter 2 cabinet, so it'll be some of the various versions of that and stuff like Final Fight and Giga Wing that's also on there. Then on PS5 I'll be putting the T-1000 through his paces (well, fumbling aimlessly with my Arcade stick at least)
@get2sammyb no problem, I think Nvidia have been purposely vague about what these numbers represent recently whilst marketing their new 50 series. So even for someone like myself who spends way too much time following the tech side of PC gaming, it's not always immediately clear what's actually been represented in these videos and graphs
What this article doesn't mention, though Nvidia themselves don't make it clear, is that this "framerate" is achieved with their multi frame generation technology and not just DLSS 4 upscaling, so 3 out of every 4 frames displayed, is an AI frame, so not real performance.

Also selling "early access" for a game that's been out for 5 months (or 3 and a half years for FH5) is f*****g stupid
