That looks insane and if they can help fix UE5's well documented issues then this is a big win even outside of their own game.
And to all those banging on about it looking like 30fps, all the footage on YouTube is from the livestream, they said they'll upload it themselves later today
I've effectively been playing Xbox games without having an Xbox for a few years so I don't even think about stuff like this anymore.
The PS5 Pro version is certainly an excellent version of the game but I don't know why they're making a big deal of "advanced ray tracing while driving" as FH5 probably has the weakest RT implementation of any game
@BAMozzy Blast Corps was so much fun, I can only agree with pretty much everything said here. I was initially worried about the combat loop after Eternal but this just feels right and more intuitive
I'm currently on chapter 7 and its somewhere between and 8 or a 9 so far. The core gameplay loop is very satisfying with some great weapons and bonuses for them and it looks and runs amazing. The parry mechanic is surprisingly engaging and encourages you to be even more aggressive. My minor complaints are the mech and dragon sections are weak and those along with bosses overuse the parry mechanic by not letting you damage them without it.
Overall it's the most fun I've had this year and I'm excited to play more
@Bdbrady I'm playing on the Pro and when indoors and in dungeons it's perfectly fine. Just outside and in the Oblivion gates, performance can get rough with the stuttering but this is the case on every platform and PC and is certainly an engine/design issue at the moment.
I'd say its still very playable for the most part, just how much performance issues bother you personally
I'm looking forward to this, Sonic Racing Transformed is still amongst my favourite Kart racers, so if this can get to that level of quality we are in for a treat.
As others have and will point out, the network test was a bit too chaotic at times, so it'll be interesting to see how the full release balances this out
Not sure about regret but I have stopped playing it until it gets a patch to smooth out the stuttering. It should never have released in such a state and this notion of simply slapping an old game in a UE5 frock needs to stop as performance is often abysmal with that engine
Perhaps that key on a disc did have an impact after all, I myself was going to buy the physical version on PS5 but have instead played it through PC Gamepass.
On the other hand are we all guilty of simply being way more interested in how players play Xbox games than Microsoft themselves? They seemed pretty happy that more players played at launch than ever before and with over 40% completion of the achievement for finishing chapter 4, it seems players are enjoying it
It's hard to look forward to something that's likely at least a decade away but I will say that Cyberpunk 2077 as become one of my favourite games of recent years
I played it back at launch on PC and it was easily the worst game I played last year, probably even this full generation. Consisting of walking around some dull empty environments, solving boring stand in the right spot to line up some symbols puzzles and a bit of dull, seemingly scripted combat, looked pretty though.
Played Still Wakes The Deep a week later and enjoyed that so much more
I wonder if this is the danger of them effectively splitting their own fan base through game design. I'm a huge fan of classic Doom and Doom 2016 but not so much Eternal but from what I've seen and heard of this it may not fully satisfy either camp
I love Doom but Eternal never clicked for me after the excellent Doom 2016 and watching gameplay of this, I keep going back and forth over getting it now or waiting for a sale
I originally got premium for the PS1/2 classics but the support for them has been pretty poor so I never renewed and now I just buy the ones I want. In all fairness I've got too many games to play before even looking at anything on a subscription
I think its more just people clutching at straws at what is simply a reference to the other games. Could there be a one off mission there? Sure but I find it incredibly unlikely they've built Liberty City for GTAVI, as that would be an extraordinary amount of work at this level of fidelity for limited benefit to the game.
This isn't like RDR2 where many textures and environmental details can be used across the map. Liberty City would have to have completely different buildings, interiors, cars, npc's amongst many other things
As long as they don't needlessly slap it into Unreal Engine and destroy the artwork and whilst they're at it, why not give us a 60fps patch and resolution boost for RDR2?
@Secryt what a ridiculous thing to say. There is nothing entitled about buying a product and wanting it to function as intended.
I've looked at Amazon, Argos and GAME and there is no mention of any download being required, except for one line of small print on Amazon, which you have to scroll the page many times to see, at least those Switch Game Key Cards make it very clear on the box.
It matters to many people if the full version is on the disc or cartridge as it should be
@Secryt they absolutely do not need to stop. If you only buy digitally then this is none of your concern anyway, but millions of people still buy physical media and they deserve to have it work as such, not some bull***t glorified access key
I cancelled my physical Doom preorder because of this and now I'll wait for a digital sale to play it.
On Switch 2, at least there is a financial reason as those cartridges are expensive and they're very up front about it but here, discs are cheap and they've already paid for them. No PS5 game should release on disc without a complete playable build on the it
Well if it maintains the standard of the excellent season 1 then I'm happy with that. I'm a big fan of the Fallout franchise in general but even my wife loved the show. Oh and I just had to get the replica Pip-Boy
Nearly £700 for a standard PS5? It's kind of funny to see the true cost of modern consoles gaming up front, where you need a subscription to play online or even for cloud saves (depending on platform). Still, you can get 24 months of premium for under £200 on CD Keys and it'll probably be on offer on black Friday, so I'd say this bundle is pretty poor value
@LikelySatan there's a creative mode that gives you unlimited resources and by default turns off dinosaur aggression and needs but you can configure all the settings as you like.
My 8 year old can play it by himself after watching me for a bit to see how to put the fences in and add dinosaurs by himself. If your kid is a bit younger, you'd probably have to make a park for them but it can be done pretty quickly and saved to mess about in
I've just picked up Jurassic World Evolution 2 on the last sale and I'm absolutely loving it. I used to play Theme Park many years ago and the Roller Coaster Tycoon games but haven't played one for a while. So this has been a great mix of reliving my dinosaur living youth along with theme park building and accidentally on purpose leaving gaps in the fence to see if people can get eaten 😂
This is an absolute joke, it's bad enough on Switch 2 but at least there is some kind of financial reason for it with those cartridges being pretty expensive. But here, they've already paid for the f***ing disc.
Xbox bang on about preservation but are a complete joke with none of their games available as a genuine physical product
I'm delighted that it's slowed down and dumped the platforming after Eternal, I much prefer Doom being grounded and simply about shooting big monsters and hopefully the story doesn't get in the way
I got the platinum on the first one and loved it, so I'm very excited for this release and whilst I'm disappointed about GTA's delay, it does now mean that I can take my time with this one
Sadly this is standard for Xbox these days as they simply don't care about physical games. I can't even think of the last Xbox release that's playable from a disc.
EDIT, it seems even worse on Xbox where the disc only has a 328MB install and booting that simply opens the store page for you to install the game 🙈
I wouldn't be surprised if that new Xbox backwards compatibility is to get their existing bc games running on PC. It seems increasingly likely their next "console" will be a PC in a box and there's that new Xbox handheld PC on the way. So I'm not convinced this about bringing more old games forward.
As for Playstation, I'd much rather see them remaster stuff like Resistance, Infamous and Motorstorm as opposed to backwards compatibility
All these devs jumping on Unreal Engine 5, yet the 2 proprietary engines for GTAVI and Death Stranding 2 are producing better results than anything I've seen on UE5 and won't be suffering from the performance issues of it either.
I absolutely loved the first, playing it at launch and seeing roads and zipline routes being developed between yourself and gamers across the world, was an incredibly unique experience. Plus this was a game that genuinely made the environment itself an obstacle and there was none of that just sprint from point A to B that often plagues open world games.
I'm very much looking forward to this, even more so now that I can take my time without having GTA6 looming on the horizon
It's definitely a level above anything we've seen so far in other games, with some quite extraordinary attention to detail such as those beer bottles. This is one game that I'm happy to have the PS5 Pro for and looking through the images on their website, I think half the joy in this game will simply be exploring its gorgeous open world
@brakeman90 the new lighting model likely takes up more resources and they've also abandoned the checkerboard rendering which produced really good results
There are certainly some things that have been improved but also downgraded. From everything I've seen, I really can't say that it looks better overall most of the time
I'll certainly have a look through but I've just picked up Jurassic World Evolution 2 on the last sale and I'm absolutely loving it. I used to play Theme Park many years ago and the Roller Coaster Tycoon games but haven't played one for a while. So this has been a great mix of reliving my dinosaur living youth along with theme park building and accidentally on purpose leaving gaps in the fence to see if people can get eaten 😂
Whilst I still personally prefer Resident Evil 2, it's hard to argue against Resident Evil 4 being top, especially when taking into consideration its exceptional VR mode as well. No matter how ypu look at it though, Capcom have been on a fantastic run
Its a 7 from me, whilst there have been some nice improvements overall to the visuals and gameplay, there is absolutely no excuse for this game to have such poor performance and it should have easily been a locked 60fps and this drops it down a couple of points
This looks absolutely incredible and a level above any open world game I've seen. Shame we didn't see any actual gameplay but given their previous games, I see no reason why the in game visuals won't match the cutscenes
I mean, I have Gamepass until November but bought Oblivion on PS5. Gamepass has been useful to me (though I won't be renewing) but for games such as these that I know I'll really enjoy and likely replay (the upcoming Doom as well), I'll buy them and often on Playstation

I do find it funny that the Internet is seemingly completely against $80 games and then when given a choice, most choose the $80 variant.
