@Rich33 generally speaking PSSR's weakness is in a still image and most people judge it by that. In motion its usually cleaner than the alternatives most games have, it has weaknesses but I like it overall
I said from the very beginning that this device shouldn't actually require a PS5 to stream games as that made no sense. Although somewhat ironically, my biggest issue with this is that it can't stream directly from the PS5, leaving it with noticable latency. Which is a shame as Wii U managed this perfectly fine a decade ago.
Overall, online streaming certainly isn't for me at the moment, I've tried various services and have never had a great experience
Perhaps on a big sale, I own the Master Chief Collection, so unless they dramatically change the level design, I'm not that bothered about having a prettier version of just Halo 1.
This seems like a lot of effort if its just for a power saving mode that nobody is likely to ever use. I still feel it is linked to that rumoured handheld, isn't it meant to have a docked mode? These could be profiles for that, with further cuts for its handheld profiles
I didn't play the multiplayer back then, so I don't really care about it now. My hope is that some of the level design has been tweaked, for as much as I enjoyed Halo and it has some amazing moments, some of its level design was a bit rubbish, even for the time
Got the Angry Video Game Nerd 8 Bit game last night and so far have beaten the Pepsi man stage, its challenging but loving the game so far. Also I've been playing the Haunted House remake on the Atari 50th collection with my son
@MrStark I've got 2 PS5's in my house, one being the Pro and I can't say I've noticed any fan noise from either. The disc drive on my Pro is certainly noisy but my Series X wasn't quiet in that regard and it rattled on my shelf.
I do agree about features such as Auto HDR which could produce great results in some games and its vastly superior backwards compatibility. Quick resume is a nice to have but can't say I ever bothered much with it and I did really like its OS at one point but they've updated it to make it worse. I was able to create groups and pin them to my home screen where I wanted them, but that has since being limited to just one or 2 I believe but I do still prefer it over PS5.
Overall though, I wouldn't say one is significantly better than the other for general usability and they give a broadly similar experiences when playing current gen games
I do sometimes feel that these visual issues with PSSR and Lumen are overblown somewhat. I played through Silent Hill f on the Pro and outside of looking for the flickering on foliage, I would never have noticed it and overall it looked an ran great.
That said I do wish devs would learn from each other as this has been a regular complaint with Lumen and PSSR specifically and hopefully they fix performance overall on PS5 for those that are playing it
I liked the first game but didn't love it and outside a couple of companions, I couldn't really rell you much about it today. Obsidian seem better suited to writing great stories for other people's established worlds, such as Fallout New Vegas or even South Park
Its such a missed opportunity not having new courses for the Sega characters. Even more so for Persona which even has Mementos or a Palace right there for a Crossworlds course
As soon as this appeared it was obviously never going to release. There was no chance they'd got the licence for the movie or music contained within.
I would love to see this game get a re-release or remake as it was a great alternative to GTA and a fun what if for the end of the movie. Though I am thankful they tried this nonsense as it reminded me to aquire it through other means and I played a bit last night, still great fun
I much prefer playing fighting games from this era over modern games and Tekken 3 is one of the best from then, time to get back in the swing of things as King
I enjoyed the game and it has some great quests and locations and I really like what they do with ng+, the big problem is it feels so disjointed and its a nightmare trying to remember where places are. Hopefully the creation content comes over as that adds a lot to the overall experience but for me, I'll be sticking to PC and my totally not modded version 😂
Its certainly not beyond the realms of possibility and I remember Everything or Nothing having really high production values all those years ago. They've already got that Golden Gun preorder, so why not go all out with the intro
"Now Sony need to do the same for Gran Turismo 7 with its nonsense online requirement"
I literally said this on here a few days ago about GT7 and now it's unplayable, so I've been playing MSR on my Dreamcast instead as that works perfectly fine
Well yeah, of course running a game at lower settings and framerates uses less power, thats obvious.
What isn’t obvious is the purpose of this "feature" outside of for that rumoured handheld. But for the home console, there is no situation where I would even contemplate turning this on
"Thanks to player feedback" seriously, they should just shut up. No single player games should ever require an Internet connection and be unplayable without it amd publishers certainly don't need player feedback to tell them how ***** they are.
Now Sony need to do the same for Gran Turismo 7 with its nonsense online requirement
I've said this since Rescue Mission launched on PSVR (still Astro Bot's best game amd should be ported to PSVR2) and it want to see this character continue to grow. Astro Bot is my favourite PS5 exclusive, favourite PSVR exclusive and the best showcase for the Dualsense. As for merch, I'll certainly take some Astro Bot Lego, or you could do a cool alarm clock given his face
@Kidfunkadelic83 4 player Goldeneye on N64 was just a magical time in gaming. Its such a shame that Xbox 360 remaster never officially released and instead we got a broken version on Xbox and a poorly emulated version on Switch and nothing elsewhere
It should be more powerful than a Steamdeck, its more than twice the price of the base version of it. If this was actually an Xbox and could play more than just 13 of my 170+ Xbox digital games, I'd be more inclined to look at it. As is, its just a very expensive handheld PC that I have very little use for.
I am interested in that rumoured PS6 handheld though
@MrPeanutbutterz no it didn't bring them to the console masses, like Goldeneye was only on N64, Halo was only on Xbox and Goldeneye actually sold better too. Yes it popularised what is now the standard control scheme (it didn't create it) and certainly has its place in history but I'm not going to pretend that it popularised FPS games on console when they were already doing well
These days console generations are more akin to upgrading your PC. Long gone are the days of definitive console generations which had their own library of games and with game development becoming so long, we see franchises skipping entire generations now too.
For my part, I have the PS5 Pro and yes I'll probably get the PS6 at launch, even if just to make my existing games run even better
It's utter garbage with the same issues as the first remake, mainly that it isn't built as a lightgun game so even on PC it's unplayable with modern lightguns. Add to that visuals that look worse than the original game and the new sound effects and voices are horrific.
This company has now spat out several awful remakes and the upcoming Panzer Dragoon Zwei is looking rubbish as well
Konami were one of the greats in the 90's and its good to see them coming back to form, Silent Hill f is an excellent entry in the series, now we just need Castlevania to return
@tameshiyaku I'm with you on this, I wasn't entirely sold on the game but having dipped in and out of a stream of it, I saw enough to get me interested and missed enough so I still get to discover it.
I'm currently about 5 hours into my own playthrough and the story has me hooked and quite like the combat. This is very much a Silent Hill game in everything but the name of the town.
Resident Evil is in full flow these days and its good to have Silent Hill in a similarly great place too. Townfall sounds interesting and the lack of combat isn't really a concern for me. P.T. has no combat and is easily one of the best horror games ever made, if anything, the more combat there is, the lesser the impact of the horror themes. RE7 shines when just dealing with one of the Bakers and Village similarly is at its best in the Castle and following house with limited or no combat
In terms of big "new" releases, these days I'd say I probably average 5 or 6 a year but may buy more on sales or cheaper indie games inbetween. Off the top of my head, this year I've bought Pirate Yakuza, Death Stranding 2, MKW (Switch 2 bundle), DK Bananza, Sonic Crossworlds and Silent Hill f
That said I am slowing down, largely because I don't have enough time to play them and at this point I've got enough games that I'd never need to buy another game again
@DualWielding not at all, there was a flickering issue on foliage when it had PSSR but that's long since been removed in its 60fps mode. Even playing Silent Hill f I barely notice that issue unless I stop to look for it. Today Silent Hill 2 looks great and is largely smooth if you're on a VRR display
Well as I've only just started playing Silent Hill f, I've got to give it to Sonic Crossworlds for the time being. I think its a great racing game, with handling reminiscent of classic Sega arcade games and some really fun track design that makes good use of Sonic's history
EDIT: Having had more time with Silent Hill f, it is definitely my game of the month. I love the atmosphere, I'm enjoying the story, the puzzles are engaging and I don't mind the combat either
Given how the original game has been split into 3 pieces, I find the levelling system unnecessary anyway, it's not like it even carries over to the next game. Ultimately this is a 3/4 hour part of a game, stretched out and bloated to 20 to 30 hours or so and was a chore at times
@get2sammyb as physical is becoming the ever increasing minority, I wish we could go back to everyone actually making an effort with them, including manuals and maps etc
@get2sammyb yeah, I'd happily pay an extra tenner to have it complete on disc and give us a map/manual like we used to have but a late release that requires a download and has nothing else has absolutely no value for me
@Oram77 yeah, I played it last year on a 4080S and without directly comparing the 2, I can't say it looks noticeably different and given the online discourse I was pleasantly surprised
I just started playing this alongside Silent Hill f on the Pro and whilst performance is still spotty, mainly in the woods at the beginning, in town it seems fine (with VRR) and they removed PSSR a long time ago from the performance mode and it looks fine now. I do still hope they work on it or someone is as the Pro could certainly do more but it'll be interesting to see how this runs on Switch 2
I was torn between this and Silent Hill f, (I've got so little time at the moment to play games) but went with Silent Hill but what I've seen of this so far looks like a good evolution of the Ghost of Tsushima gameplay and world building. I'll certainly be getting it after Xmas when I'll have some time to play it
Let's be honest it'll be uncontested one way or the other but if prices continue as they are, I can see the console market shrinking dramatically next generation. People just aren't going to be spending £600 or even £700 plus en masse and people's disposable income only seems to be going one way.
PC is increasingly looking the way to go with so many options for home or on the go gaming and no concerns about your library going with you and no costs for online gaming, cloud save etc
I've not played it and was on the fence due to various things I'd read about it but having dipped in and out of a playthrough by Maximilian, I'm really excited to play it. I avoided enough to keep it fresh for me but the bits of the story I saw and puzzles looked superb and very much a Silent Hill game, so this is now my next game to play
I can't say they've released enough games recently for me to get sick of it 😂
