Re: Xbox Now Selling PS5 Games for $80, Joins Switch 2 in Price Increase

carlos82

I said this was inevitable and not just a Nintendo issue when they announced their prices. Unfortunately we are living in a reality where everyone's costs are increasing and sadly any next generation console is now going to be very expensive.

Anyone thinking that the PS6 is going to be cheaper than the Pro is now, is out of their mind

Re: Sony's New State of Play Proves the Value of Deep Dives, Trends on YouTube

This is a great format to showcase games and has made me more interested in this game than just a trailer did.

My own history with Borderlands is enjoying the 1st, getting the platinum on the 2nd and being my most played game on PS3, to bouncing off the 3rd as I hated most of the characters and the writing. Because of that, I was happy to largely ignore number 4 but having watched that, I'm actually quite interested in it. The new Siren is looking like great fun to play as too, so I'll now be keeping an eye on this

Re: State of Play Presents Borderlands 4 Deep Dive on PS5 Pro

carlos82

Just caught up with this and as many others are saying, this looks way better than Borderlands 3 from a character and tonal point of view and they even have a Vault hunter that I want to play as again. I've always played as the Siren and the new one looks great.

This has gone from me not caring, to I might actually have to play this

Re: Ghost of Yotei's PS5 Price Provokes Fresh Switch 2 Fury

carlos82

@themightyant yep, we have no idea how much these cost to make and nobody seems to take into account the distribution costs incurred with those 64GB cartridges, which is a significant portion of each sale.

I've said something similar before on here but when it's costing me £40 for a takeaway for the family or more than double that for a night out, then me spending £10 extra on a game I'm going to play for years, doesn't even register anymore

Re: Hands On: Oblivion Remastered Is Still Oblivion in All Its Glory, Crap Frame Rate Aside

carlos82

It's standard UE5 performance unfortunately, for what is a pretty dreadful engine in several ways.

That's said I'm still having an absolute blast with it and it runs way better than Skyrim did on PS3 at least 😂. I rather like the new animations and the overall look but the SSR is pretty poor and has very distracting artefacts and thankfully can be turned off. I've also had a few crashes so far, so overall I'd say its a very faithful remaster of a Bethesda RPG, now excuse me whilst I get lost in its world for a few hundred hours

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Oblivion Remastered?

carlos82

Bethesda RPG's are amongst my very favourite games so I picked this up as soon as I could. I did play through this back on the PS3 but have rarely returned to it as Skyrim became the one I replayed multiple times, so I'm very excited to play through this again.

These days I rarely have time to play such long games but this is one that I will make the time for. I'm only a couple of hours into it but calling it a remaster is under selling it, certainly from a visual standpoint and so far it's run very well on my PS5 Pro

Re: There's One Positive for Physical Fans Amid PS5's Price Increase Chaos

carlos82

I said when the PS5 Pro was announced that it was looking likely that any next gen console may be moving into pricing territory of being prohibitively expensive for many.

Here we are with the PS5 receiving its second price increase since launch and now £70 more expensive than back then.

Despite all the fuss over Switch 2 recently, this was never just a Nintendo problem but an industry problem

Re: Switch 2's Performance Best Compared to PS4, According to Tech Experts

carlos82

It didn't take long for the "last gen" nonsense comments to appear when Nintendo have already shown games like Metroid Prime 4 running at 4K60FPS and 1080p 120fps and of course the fact that it's a handheld.

Clearly it was never going to be a match for PS5 but it certainly has some advantages over PS4 and Pro for that matter. As pointed out here, it is running the updated version of FFVII and Cyberpunk actually works on it and is the version 2 of the game which is even more demanding to run.

And I've got to be honest, I find Metroid, Donkey Kong and Mario Kart way more visually appealing then many games I've seen on this current generation

Re: Almost All PS5 Fans Are Against $80 Games

carlos82

@Matroska yeah me and the Mrs went out recently for some food and drinks with friends and it cost us about £100. So me spending £75 on a Mario Kart I'm going to be playing for a decade isn't a big deal. Although it actually cost me £35 bundled with the Switch 2

Re: Almost All PS5 Fans Are Against $80 Games

carlos82

I think I've got to the point where I just don't care anymore, I've got less time to play games these days so I'm far more picky anyway. So if it's a game series I'm already a fan of and I know I'm gonna love it and play a lot, then the price doesn't actually matter that much to me. These days it costs me £30 and upwards for a take away, so me spending £10 extra on a game I might spend 100's of hours playing isn't that big of a deal to me

Re: Poll: PS5 Fans, Are You Sold on the Nintendo Switch 2?

carlos82

@ShogunRok Mario Kart World alone is enough for me, I think about 2 thirds of my time on the current Switch has being on Mario Kart. Granted, that and Donkey Kong seem to be doing much of the heavy lifting around launch with plenty of 3rd party stuff I've already played or ignored, BUT, if I could have hand picked 2 games for me, these would have been at the very top of the list

Re: New Batman Game Appears to Be Targeting PS6

carlos82

@TheArt yeah the concept of generations is now a thing of the past and with the likes of Switch 2 just coming to market along with the influx of PC handhelds, I feel PS5 will be supported well into the distant future alongside any PS6

Re: Another Impressive Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Update Going Live Today

carlos82

This game badly needs some new tracks, I mean Eiger Nordwand was a nice to have but it's not a good track to race on and the daily races seem to have settled into a repeating pattern of a handful of tracks and combos. Even Sophy has been downgraded since it's first reveal and isn't as quick as it should be
