Swarm of Flies was awesome but I can see why it had to be nerfed a little. Playing arcane build so rivers of blood and another katana (long one whose name escapes me) are my two dual wield weapons. Combined with swarm of flies, talisman where blood increases attack power combined with Milificent’s prostheses and the game is a lot easier (still die in late game areas but the bosses are easier especially if I use the mimic).

Elden Ring in late evening in the living room. GT7 sessions during the day (with TRS300 and mid-range pedals and play seat setup in games room). Lucky to have two PS5s (just so I can be lazy and not have to move my GT7 setup and my PS5s - I hear it’s hard to get PS5 - but I got them pretty easily each time I registered (once prior to launch to get one for launch and one a month back and I was offered chance to buy within a week).

Have PS Plus now. Will upgrade to premium if library of ps1-ps3 and psp (where is the vita?!) games are reasonably extensive.

I got two PS5. One of the solely for playing GT7 (all setup with seat and steering wheels etc). Sorry, but I am in my late 40s and I deserve a little luxury!

So. I surprise GT7 is on there but also one game that really surprised me how much I loved it (got plat even) is Returnal. Demons Souls was such a joy to revisit (though not got platinum as I find all this world tendency stuff to be a little convoluted).

Anyway my list all 10/10 for me (not in any particular order)

Demons Souls (it felt completely fresh to play again)
Spider-Man (miles morales - original is also just as good but I played it on Pro)
Elden Ring (best open world game ever - maybe not best ‘Souls’ game though).

Nioh (only because games is so good - graphically not that impressive)

For me, it’s the fifth best FromSoftware game after BB, Demon Souls (PS5) and Sekiro, Dark Souls. That’s not to say it isn’t amazing, It’s still in my all time list of best games.

PS5 shortage I really hurting Sony. They could get away with it if they deliver soon but the way the world is going I don’t expect things to get better soon.

They sound very reasonable. I only managed to platinum one GT game (I think it was 6). I didn’t even try to do GT Sport. The 91 wins online is tough for someone with my skill level (I could come in top 3 but to win is difficult).

Can we have another review. All last gen reviews focused on how it was technically broken. I’m still not sure if it’s a good game. Is it like cyberpunk version of Fallout for example? O

I noticed my 2020/2021 Bravia TVs have VRR support (In HDMI settings) added. So I am assuming it is getting ready for PS5 firmware update at some point. Or maybe there is genuinely no coordination between its TV arm and PS arm.

Returnal is probably my game of the year - although I’m really starting to get annoyed. 2 xenoglyphs in biome 2 and biome 6 is all that stands between me and the platinum trophy (I must have gone through those two biomes a 6 times now with no luck).

I was one of the first to complain about returns and how it felt no real progress after runs in the same easy Hades. Now though, this is the game of the year for me. Completed it several times and now in the hands of RNG gods to get the survey of the biomes completed to get plat.

What makes it, is the sheer joy of the weapons, the responsiveness of the character.

I struggled with first boss and weirdly the 4th boss took me longer than it really should. 3rd boss and 6th boss are easy if you build your character well (good health and good gun - the one with plasma beam or turret makes short work of bosses).

Just want to say I’m not defending Sony and it seems Xbox games pass is popular (I’m not an Xbox guy so I don’t use it) and people say it’s better. My point was that it was always this way since ps5 launch (and clarified later since FFVii remake was offered). They offered one PS5 game and two PS4 games. They never promised that if a PS5 upgrade is available they would honour tryst for PS Plus PS4 games. So if you bought PS Plus knowing that, it may suck that Sony doesn’t, but they haven’t done anything underhand.

Hence my comment on outcry and ‘entitled’. On the other hand if Sony promised such a thing and didn’t deliver then I would understand the outcry and outrage.

That was my point. As always, vote with your wallet my friends, you don’t like it, don’t pay for ps plus. That will get them to take notice for sure (if enough people do it). Personaly l I see these as a bonus and not the main reason to subscribe.

Why is there an outcry? They made it clear it was a PS4 game. PS5 upgrade is only for those that bought the PS4 version.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Sony not block it but to have an outcry over something that was never promised by ps plus service is a bit ‘entitled’ attitude.

No matter how powerful consoles get there will AWAYS be a need to compromise (because ultimately resources are finite and you have to make choices). The difference is as generations go these compromises become more and more subtle (for example today we may aim for 1440p vs native 4K, screen space reflections instead of RT reflections etc). In future it might be 4K as performance and 8K as quality, or RT reflections, shadows, global illumination etc).

I’m sure people at Sony are not dumb. They probably have lots of marketing data that shows this crap works.

Completed Hades run almost 20 times and even with. Pact punishments it always seems fair as the system is very clear and while some boobs are more beneficial than others it’s quite well balanced.

With Returnal, after several attempts I made it to first biome boss and finally figured it out a bit more. I like it but Hades is miles better (and I’m a fan of Housemarque).

@VatoLoco47 yes, it’s more a spiritual successor and one of my favourite games (got platinum on it relatively quickly compared to souls games). I was talking more of a remake of original Tenchu (but to be fair, I would take Sekiro over Tenchu any day).

@dasd2 it most probably will be if they got any sense.

I would love a demons souls like remake of the first two Tenchu’s.

It’s no way near as difficult as the souls games with shell that gives you ridiculous health. Much harder and more souls like in terms of difficulty with rouge character though.

I would love to know total number of sales for GTA V. Will it be the first game to sell more than the total population of the world?!?!

I have the same view as Liam when it comes to Rouge-likes and Dead Cells too appealed to me (but I knew if Dead Cells mechanics were used on a Metroidvania/2D Souls style I would have loved it even more).

I will give Returnal a go at some point but only because it’s a Housemarque game. Given my natural dislike for this genre, £60-£70 still seems a little to too steep though. When it gets discounted (I try not to buy secondhand games for devs I like)

Great. Can I have Resogun 2 and please can it be a physical release? To this day it annoys me that a classic like Resogun is not available physically.

Got the platinum of Sekiro, once it clicks it’s not so bad (like all of their souls games to be honest).

Love his games. Can’t wait.

Sitting about 2.5 meters away from my 65”, you can see the resolution difference if you stand still and flip from fidelity to performance RT but I mean you really have to look at edges etc to catch it.
Performance RT all the way.

Tetris Effect is an awesome game with an awesome soundtrack. That’s how you update a classic. I can spell his name but all his games are awesome from Walt sets arcade games, Rez, Lumines, Eden etc)

Any info on whether there are any PS5 specific upgrades?

I want Returnal but given that I’m not generally a fan of the rouge like structure, I can’t bring myself to put nearly £70 on it, at £40 I would take the plunge. I will wait for it to drop as I have to try it out but I know one of my worst things in games (other than genuine arcade games like shmups and beatem ups and fighting games), is the feeling that I have to do the same levels over and over again for hours to make progress.

In my view MS has yet to produce a single player experience coming close to Last of Us, Uncharted, God Of War series. No way near. I had a 360 as a second console to PS3 because their Arcade stuff was great, but even here I believe PS has caught up.

Why is this even controversy? People do realise Sony has the right to earn money?. I see no issue if people are mostly playing on PS but do not make the purchases there for items that Sony gets a revenue share. I doubt that is the norm anyway, it is far more likely if you play on PS you buy through the PS store.

Is this basically the same as Capcom Arcade Cabinet on PS3? I’m sure I have all those games installed on my PS3 (and in fact I played a few games the other day).

There should be an option for all of them. I would buy all of them.

It’s not taking full advantage of the PS5. It taking advantage of the PS5 back compatibility modes. So basically a 10TFLOP PS4 Pro. But it doesn’t use any of the new architecture of the graphics and CPU (?) chips.

Where is Demons Souls? Gutted it hasn’t hit the top 10. Might have encouraged them to commission a sequel with Bluepoint.

Will my TRS300 Steering Wheel be supported? I hope I’m not forced to buy another wheel like I had to going from PS3 to PS4.

Makes sense as long as it it is a few years after the release on Console and they don’t routinely do it for every title.

Is all content on disk (incl. season 1-3)? Or do you still have to download? For me that is the key decision behind whether I buy season 3 (As I have the original and season 1 & 2) or the arcade physical release.

I don’t get why they didn’t go for black box. Blue just doesn’t fit...white would make more sense compared to Blue but Black looks the best.

Although I would assume between 80-100 range. I can’t imagine it being less than that.

If you care about Sony exclusives (which I do) then power difference will not make a difference. Ultimately it’s software that sells, and so far over several generations MS have failed to provide an exclusive IP I care about (couple of third party exclusives, on original XBOX (like Panzer Dragoon Orta) and XBLA stuff in 360 days. This is the first generation I have not bought an MS console - the usually small differences between multi plays is only really for fan boys to argue over).

Normally not one to complain - as they are ‘free’ For subscribers but this is the first month where I won’t even bother to add them to my library.

Demons Souls remake trumps the extra teraflops! No contest for me.

They are both powerful enough to the point where exclusives would be the differentiator.

PS5 should alleviate this problem out of the box (assuming it is PS4 back compact which is almost a certainty)

I will buy as soon as it is reduced to a good price but will not open until PS5s arrival.

They need to bring back manuals. If not the can at least make the boxes thinner where there are no manuals.

It’s going to be another great year. Picking 3 is too little. The following are on my will buy (irrespective of reviews) in 2020 assuming they come out before PS5 launch (otherwise I may have to put my cash towards that and wait for some of them on PS5).
