Re: Interest in Destiny 2 Reportedly at an All-Time Low

bighal

Having not played Destiny 2 for a very very long time (played Destiny one a lot), I assumed it was still popular, and therefore thought Sony made a wise purchase (if a little overpriced).

In hindsight, it looks like to be have been a very bad purchase for Sony.

Re: The Crew Motorfest (PS5) - Third Time's the Charm in This Vibrant, Varied Racer

bighal

From a user on Reddit (that aligns to my point above)

“ Ok, so I've been googling and searching High and Low to verify it my 8nm DDPro wheel will work to TCM on PS5. Happy to report, that it does indeed work.I know on the website for supported lists, it wasnt listed under PS5 but CSL DD was listed(Which doesnt work natively on PS5 anyway...you need the DD Pro base) It seem to work better than TC2. Thats all folks enjoy!”

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Armored Core 6?

bighal

Yeah Push Square had a brain fart when scoring this game. How on earth is it only a 7/10? I know, I know. reviewers opinion etc, and I’m only kidding. Anyway, game is bloody amazing and for sure the best mech game that I played (although Omega Boost on PS1 is close - underrated gem of a game from makers of Gran Turismo)

Re: PlayStation Portal Is Sony's PS5 Remote Play Handheld, Priced at $200 / £200

bighal

I think for another £50 ability to download PS1, PSP/Vita games from PSN Store on to SD Card would have gone a long way. They could have also provided updated Vita SDK to devs and let them develop some indie games. It would never challenge the switch but would have been hell of a lot more attractive. Also no Bluetooth support is ridiculously stupid - it stops people using their wireless headphones.

This is Sony making stupid decisions and I’m sure Mark Cerny didn’t make these cutbacks - because he got so many things right for PS5 and compromised in the right way - on paper XSX is more powerful but in reality it really hasn’t turned out to be anything of note (and in a lot of multiplat cases PS5 seems to perform better).

Re: UK Sales Charts: PS5 Slingshots GTA 5 to Number Two

bighal

@theSpectre No I’m not trolling read what I said before acting like a jerk

I am saying we have had a lot of new PS5 being sold week in, week out. Therefore it stands to reason people buy PS5 to also play PS5 exclusives and none of them are in the top 10, so my question was why are none of the exclusives on Sony’s platform not being dragged up with increased hardware sales. One reason could be the people upgraded from PS4 so not buying them again (or simply getting the digital upgrade where available). Where the hell is that trolling?

Re: Blasphemous 2 (PS5) - A Marvellously Macabre Metroidvania

bighal

Loved the first one. Will get the second but just too many to play right now. Armoured Cores 6 is around the corner (I haven’t played any in the series but this last one looks great).

I’m a bit put off by the increased emphasis on platforming (not my thing), is there a lot of those sections in the game?

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Diablo 4?

bighal

I will eventually buy it on PSN sale. If it was not always requiring internet connection I would have bought the physical on release date. So it’s a game I want to play but being always online means no point buying physical and I do not intend to pay full price for this when I have backlog galore.

Re: Random: Final Fantasy 16's PS5 Performance Mode Made Moogles Look Like Hedgehogs

@OmniHawk, @Ortadragoon, @TheMightymp2

First off, thanks for a constructive conversation, respecting each others views. Lovely to see.
Orta you make a point about historical context, but this is it. This is in no way historical, if we can have dragons, and all
manner of creatures, I think having people of colour does not diminish the inspiration of medieval setting.

For Rings of power, wheel of time was infinitely enhance by a bit of colour (and the best part, there was NO story reason or narrative attention drawn on it).

Anyway, I did cancel (I have too many games to play anyway), and if and when I do feel like playing it, it will be a second hand copy.

It’s such a shame forespoken was done so badly, as no doubt some marketing execs will think it’s because they had a black female lead rather than it was a mediocre game.

Re: Random: Final Fantasy 16's PS5 Performance Mode Made Moogles Look Like Hedgehogs

bighal

Moogles fits ins medevil setting but god forbid to include people of colour.

I must admit I’m still sour about that. I thought with Lord of the Rings series, wheel of time media, marvel movies, marvel tv series, was finally understanding importance of representation.

I have it on order but I may cancel and pick it up second hand as I don’t want to contribute to the sales figures for this games.

Re: Xbox Boss Admits Microsoft Can't 'Outconsole' PS5

bighal

"It's not true that if we go up and build great games, that you'll see console shares go up massively," Spencer states. "If we focused on great games, that doesn't mean we'll win the console race."

That to me is the problem I have with MS. What he means is that he won’t get market domination or instant success. What he fails to realise, yes you will get gamers on your platform owing to some kind of eco system model but ultimately gamers care about games. That is why both Nintendo and Sony continue to beat MS (even with their substantially deep pockets).

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

bighal

For me this could be more than you think:

  • PS Plus streamer
  • Remote play
  • A kind of Wii U like controller where the screen could be used to map various shortcuts…especially good for strategy games, or RPG games like Baldurs Gate (old school ones)
  • Also could be a second screen for local couch co-op games like Divinity or racing games.

This way existing base is not alienated but people who buy can get value from it and may allow Sony to charge similar price to pro controllers. Yes it will be niche but they would not have to sell it at a loss.

Re: PS2's Best-Selling Console Crown in Jeopardy As Nintendo Switch Passes PS4

bighal

More impressive (& more profitable for the companies) is the software numbers. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe selling over 52 million is insane… (compare development cost of MK8 vs GOW Ragnarok)…Nintendo are killing it, and somehow manage to do it their own way - the weakest hardware, last gen graphics, same old IPs regurgitated ( like MK8, Pokémon) or reinvented ( like the Zelda, Mario etc) year upon year to massive success.
Not a great fan of Nintendo games (I appreciate their quality but not really that excited to play them) but you have to give them Kudos.

Re: Round Up: Forspoken's Divided Reviews Make for Some Rough Reading

bighal

Problem with this title it doesn’t excel at anything to make it worthwhile. Technically as you noted from DF it’s more miss than hit (lighting and performance and texture issues are very bad), the story seems to be not that great initially and lastly the open world isn’t really interesting in the sense lots of cool emergent discoveries like Elden Ring.

So I’ll give it a miss. If it was technically astonishing then I may have waited for price drop. But as I said I really can’t find any redeeming features. Shame, as I was hoping this turned out to be good (I do like the traversal animation though).

Re: Monster Hunter Rise (PS5) - A Fantastic Port of the Series' Best Outing

bighal

@SMcCrae95 you missed my point (I don’t have a Switch and I didn’t read it as a dig on Switch).
“ Rise was quite the looker for the Nintendo Switch at launch thanks to Capcom's incredible RE Engine. While it still looks nice here on PS5, there are noticeable visual downgrades from the likes of World in some instances.”

That reads as though PS5 is a downgrade compared to Switch. I think you meant compared to some other open world titles on ps5 like HFW.

Re: UK Sales Charts: God of War Ragnarok Returns to the Top in Final Week of 2022

bighal

@Mostik yeah, I got my plat over Xmas too. I was left wanting more so I went back to GOW 2018 and spent a few hours mopping up trophies for the plat on that too.

I started Klonoa for a bit of fun (while GT7 remains a constant and will do so for the foreseeable future) and plan to go back to HZFW (I like it but I’m a bit tired of open world to-do lists which I find hard to ignore but at the same time it kills the momentum of the story). All open world compare unfavourably after Elden Ring (for me).

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

bighal

Surprised GT7 isn’t 3rd and HZFW beat out Elden Ring. But fair enough all the same.
For me GT7 is my personal GOTY, followed closely by Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok (couldn’t decide between them) with HZFW at 4 or 5.
By the way if I hadn’t played the LoU Part 1. It would be number 1 game of 2022. Even beating the mighty GT7.

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Elden Ring

bighal

@KAIRU GT7 my top followed by Elden Ring and sharing equal spot with GOW Ragnarok. Also if I’m talking personally, then Returnal would be a close equal to Elden Ring/GOW.

I really can’t see how PushSquare justify GT7 off their top 10 other than saying personal tastes but isn’t that what their own top 5 is for?

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

bighal

Easiest ‘souls’ game to complete because of the spirit ashes. Don’t use them and it’s as hard as any other souls game (apart from maybe BloodBorne Chalice dungeons where your health was halved and you had to fight this massive end boss - basically one hit and it was over).
