Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

badbob001

Would even $1000 be too optimistic for Helix? If Sony didn't already hoard ram for the PS5, I can imagine the PS5 Pro costing $1000 if Sony had to pay for ram at current prices. Maybe a Helix Series-S for $1000 and a Helix Series-X for $1500. Even SSD storage is crazy expensive now but I guess they could just use cloud storage and have the local storage be a cache.

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

badbob001

It just doesn't seem like a good time for new hardware. Component cost is super high so either the console will be very expensive or it'll be watered-down. Maybe AI will make it stand out, but we're still waiting for AI-powered PSSR to prove itself on the PS5 Pro.

And what about the games? With studios taking so long to make games for the PS5, will PS6 games simply be a pivot of unfinished PS5 games with some PS6 frosting slapped on? Didn't we get that with the PS5-port of PS4 games?

Re: Almost Killed by Xbox Layoffs, John Romero's Next Game Has 'Survived'

badbob001

So Microsoft has stopped funding the game but is still publishing it? So how will it be funded going-forward? Seems like they'll run on the fumes of whatever funding they currently have in hand and somehow salvage the current game state into something they can push out the door. It all sounds like the last gasps of a team working on their last game. Moral must be high over there.

Re: Hands On: Sifu's New Difficulty Settings are a Superb Addition

badbob001

@JB_Whiting Perhaps they need a Custom Difficulty setting to go along with the presets:

  • Player death penalty slider
  • Player health size slider
  • Player attack strength slider
  • Enemy health size slider
  • Enemy attach strength slider
  • Enemy move-set slider
  • Boss health size slider
  • Boss attach strength slider
  • Boss move-set slider

Some games even let you adjust this mid-game so you can get over a particular blocker and then adjust back.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Prestige Cars to Be Dynamically Priced by Real-World Valuation Company

badbob001

Of course, they could make certain cars TIME LIMITED and super expensive so that unless already have the credits, you have no choice but to use real money to meet the deadline.

I could imagine them releasing an exclusive car/styling for only Christmas and so people use up a lot of credits to get that. But then they release something else for New Year Day and people had already used up their credits on Christmas...

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Prestige Cars to Be Dynamically Priced by Real-World Valuation Company

At some point during development, they would need to consult a real-world source to price their cars realistically instead of just making it up. Post-release, I see no problem keeping that information updated with the same source. For a multi-year supported game, this seems important.

As for the micro-transactions in the game, as I see it, they are simply shortcuts for those that don't want to earn the credits with gameplay. If they were a paywall to exclusive content, then that would be a problem.

Maybe there are people that actually follow the pricing of cars and it seems neat that the real-world would have a direct effect in the game. I have no idea what factors affect the prices of cars... maybe when someone hears about some issue with a particular car in the news, they can go check if the car price decreases in game?

Re: Hideo Kojima Isn't a Fan of Calling Death Stranding PS5 'Director's Cut'

badbob001

If the extra content was planned but not produced by the original release date due to time constraints, then it was cut for time reasons. If Kojima did not have absolute control over the original release date, then one can argue that the original was released before Kojima could get the new content in. If all that, then the new release is a Director's Cut.

Re: PS5 Games Are Still Selling Poorly at Retail in Japan

badbob001

So what is selling well in retail in Japan? Mainly Switch games? I'm curious how is xbox compared to PS5 over there. I don't think the higher game prices affects xbox because that just makes their gamepass option even more attractive. I think mobile is also pretty big over there since they made a mobile-only Nier game.
