Re: System Shock Sequels are a Matter for Tencent to Decide, Says IP Owner

badbob001

So Nightdive licenses out the rights of the 3rd game to Otherside. And then Otherside sells that license to Tencent? So is the licensing chain now:
Nightdive -> Otherside -> Tencent
or it is:
Nightdive -> Tencent
?

I wonder if Nightdive had any say in the transfer of the license to Tencent. Would be suspicious if not.

Re: Hands On: Sifu's New Difficulty Settings are a Superb Addition

badbob001

@JB_Whiting Perhaps they need a Custom Difficulty setting to go along with the presets:

  • Player death penalty slider
  • Player health size slider
  • Player attack strength slider
  • Enemy health size slider
  • Enemy attach strength slider
  • Enemy move-set slider
  • Boss health size slider
  • Boss attach strength slider
  • Boss move-set slider

Some games even let you adjust this mid-game so you can get over a particular blocker and then adjust back.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Prestige Cars to Be Dynamically Priced by Real-World Valuation Company

badbob001

Of course, they could make certain cars TIME LIMITED and super expensive so that unless already have the credits, you have no choice but to use real money to meet the deadline.

I could imagine them releasing an exclusive car/styling for only Christmas and so people use up a lot of credits to get that. But then they release something else for New Year Day and people had already used up their credits on Christmas...

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Prestige Cars to Be Dynamically Priced by Real-World Valuation Company

badbob001

At some point during development, they would need to consult a real-world source to price their cars realistically instead of just making it up. Post-release, I see no problem keeping that information updated with the same source. For a multi-year supported game, this seems important.

As for the micro-transactions in the game, as I see it, they are simply shortcuts for those that don't want to earn the credits with gameplay. If they were a paywall to exclusive content, then that would be a problem.

Maybe there are people that actually follow the pricing of cars and it seems neat that the real-world would have a direct effect in the game. I have no idea what factors affect the prices of cars... maybe when someone hears about some issue with a particular car in the news, they can go check if the car price decreases in game?

Re: Hideo Kojima Isn't a Fan of Calling Death Stranding PS5 'Director's Cut'

badbob001

If the extra content was planned but not produced by the original release date due to time constraints, then it was cut for time reasons. If Kojima did not have absolute control over the original release date, then one can argue that the original was released before Kojima could get the new content in. If all that, then the new release is a Director's Cut.

Re: PS5 Games Are Still Selling Poorly at Retail in Japan

badbob001

So what is selling well in retail in Japan? Mainly Switch games? I'm curious how is xbox compared to PS5 over there. I don't think the higher game prices affects xbox because that just makes their gamepass option even more attractive. I think mobile is also pretty big over there since they made a mobile-only Nier game.

Re: How Is Control: Ultimate Edition Improved on PS5?

badbob001

What does this sentence even mean?
"If you are playing the new Xbox Series X|S/PS5 version of Control Ultimate Edition, your save file will NOT carry over. "
If you are already playing the next-gen version of the game, what is there to carry over to if you're already on next-gen? They can't mean back to the prev-gen version because that is not the question.

I'm guess it's a typo and missing simply missing a NOT: If you are NOT playing the new Xbox Series X|S/PS5 version of Control Ultimate Edition, your save file will NOT carry over.

Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

badbob001

@Kidfunkadelic83 I wonder how many people can't stand the idea of buying a last-gen version when they can have the best experience on new-gen... and so are just waiting for the opportunity to get get a new console or may have even bought the ps5 version just to hold it until that day comes. Or so a friend tells me.

Re: Ys IX Gets a Rockin' Story Trailer

badbob001

@Tharsman Looked at some reviews and some say that the performance of the game is worse than the previous version. So maybe they need to update their engine at least. Or we can all get a PS5 to run it on.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Is a Massive 102GB Download on PS4

badbob001

Isn't the current 2-layer ps4 disks limited to 50GB? If the download is 100GB, you would think the game would come on two disks. It seems like the disk is just a license to download the full game.

I want to see someone try to run the disk version without internet connection to see if it works. The twist after 10 hours: "Thank you for completing the demo."

Re: The New PS Store for Web, Mobile Is a Dramatic Downgrade

badbob001

So now you have to click each image to see the name, price, and type? Is someone at sony getting paid per-click? Did they just make their store into a point-and-click adventure? The PS5 would need to cache the whole damn store to disguise the fact that it's so slow.
