Would even $1000 be too optimistic for Helix? If Sony didn't already hoard ram for the PS5, I can imagine the PS5 Pro costing $1000 if Sony had to pay for ram at current prices. Maybe a Helix Series-S for $1000 and a Helix Series-X for $1500. Even SSD storage is crazy expensive now but I guess they could just use cloud storage and have the local storage be a cache.
The led lighting seemed underwhelming compared to the dramatic the music transition. Should have turned off the room lights before showing that feature.
As soothing as Cerny's voice is, PSSR 2.0 needs more than Mr. Rogers doing a tech-talk to sell it. It needs a system-selling game attached to it. Imagine them demoing GTA6 running at 60fps due to PSSR 2.0.
Have we heard anything from anyone in Bluepoint? Maybe the silence is due to the studio being already drained of talent after the MMO cancelation or due to some internal issue.
My son has some Roblox gaming running 24x7 on his PC but is using some macro app to farm stuff I guess. So perhaps some of the reported hours may be somewhat inflated.
The mention of rolling heads made me think of the opening of Gravity Rush, which Bluepoint remastered, where we see the apple rolling through the street.
It just doesn't seem like a good time for new hardware. Component cost is super high so either the console will be very expensive or it'll be watered-down. Maybe AI will make it stand out, but we're still waiting for AI-powered PSSR to prove itself on the PS5 Pro.
And what about the games? With studios taking so long to make games for the PS5, will PS6 games simply be a pivot of unfinished PS5 games with some PS6 frosting slapped on? Didn't we get that with the PS5-port of PS4 games?
So Microsoft has stopped funding the game but is still publishing it? So how will it be funded going-forward? Seems like they'll run on the fumes of whatever funding they currently have in hand and somehow salvage the current game state into something they can push out the door. It all sounds like the last gasps of a team working on their last game. Moral must be high over there.
If the success of the PS4 was the result of basically giving developers what they asked for, could the same be said of the PS5? I think Cerny mentioned that he designed the PS5 for 30fps but was surprised when the market gravitated towards 60fps.
Eventually everyone will own a Switch and then new sales will drop to zero, letting any competitor beat time-specific sales total, but not life-time sales total.
Unless: 1) Switch owners decide to own more than one 2) Nintendo releases a new model of Switch
So Nightdive licenses out the rights of the 3rd game to Otherside. And then Otherside sells that license to Tencent? So is the licensing chain now:
Nightdive -> Otherside -> Tencent
or it is:
Nightdive -> Tencent
?
I wonder if Nightdive had any say in the transfer of the license to Tencent. Would be suspicious if not.
Of course, they could make certain cars TIME LIMITED and super expensive so that unless already have the credits, you have no choice but to use real money to meet the deadline.
I could imagine them releasing an exclusive car/styling for only Christmas and so people use up a lot of credits to get that. But then they release something else for New Year Day and people had already used up their credits on Christmas...
At some point during development, they would need to consult a real-world source to price their cars realistically instead of just making it up. Post-release, I see no problem keeping that information updated with the same source. For a multi-year supported game, this seems important.
As for the micro-transactions in the game, as I see it, they are simply shortcuts for those that don't want to earn the credits with gameplay. If they were a paywall to exclusive content, then that would be a problem.
Maybe there are people that actually follow the pricing of cars and it seems neat that the real-world would have a direct effect in the game. I have no idea what factors affect the prices of cars... maybe when someone hears about some issue with a particular car in the news, they can go check if the car price decreases in game?
The need for an app to view a trailer is confusing. The mention of "real-time in-engine" made me think the ps5 has an app to allow it to load the actual game engine to render the trailer. Like a non/limited-interactive demo. Or is this trailer just a streamed video?
If the extra content was planned but not produced by the original release date due to time constraints, then it was cut for time reasons. If Kojima did not have absolute control over the original release date, then one can argue that the original was released before Kojima could get the new content in. If all that, then the new release is a Director's Cut.
So what is selling well in retail in Japan? Mainly Switch games? I'm curious how is xbox compared to PS5 over there. I don't think the higher game prices affects xbox because that just makes their gamepass option even more attractive. I think mobile is also pretty big over there since they made a mobile-only Nier game.
I'm confused. Does buying a microsoft xbox game automatically grant you free access to the PC version as well? Or is he talking about a subscription to Game Pass Ultimate?
Most likely Sony scared off a playstation version with restrictions on cross-play, a tax on cross-play, and a high percentage cut of in-game purchases.

Re: Sony Confirms Big PS5 Pro Upgrade Is Out in March, Better PSSR Upscaler
They should change the system setting to something like:
PSSR Level:
This way, we can completely disable PSSR is we want to. This also will give reviewers lots of options to compare.
