The Abandoned saga continues. After a string of bizarre rumours, delays, and clarifications, developer Blue Box Game Studios has found itself in a strange predicament: theories are running wild it's all a cover-up for a Silent Hill project helmed by Hideo Kojima, but the team insists this isn't the case. Meanwhile, a PlayStation 5 app, which will allow you to run trailers for this mysterious game in-engine in real time, has been pushed back, leading to more speculation. Hopefully, with this new date in place, things will finally be cleared up.
Yes, the Abandoned Trailers App now has a release date. Blue Box has announced on Twitter that you'll be able to pre-load the application on PS5 starting from 29th July. Following this, an introduction will be added on 10th August, and the first proper trailer will arrive later that month.
At this point, we're not holding our breath for the app to show up on time, but we're certainly as curious as anyone else to see it for ourselves. We'll just have to play the waiting game, and see what happens in the coming weeks. Are you looking forward to checking out the Abandoned Trailers App? I saw the headline and just found it amusing. The farce continues. Why are they even hyping this pointless app? I would absolutely love for everyone to be surprised and it actually be a playable demo for something completely different to what it purports to be. Other than that, it sounds like a lot of people don’t really care about this.
It all remains rather suspect. Just get it over with. The suspense is killing no one.
So a small indie developer is getting a special app that you can preload from the PS sore ready for an announcement/trailer at a later date? After they had a trailer on a state of play which doesn't actually represent the game in any way? Whatever is going on with this game, its all highly suspicious.
A trailer app can't be so big you would need to pre-load it though?
@Lyonjak Pretty sure the trailer was not on SoP - not that it changes much.
Over this whole story now. Just boring
Can't wait to see Silent Hill return.
Sick of hearing about this now. Thought the intial trailer looked decent enough but the whole marketing nonsense around this has killed it.
A trailer app is clever marketing if they do something decent with.
For example, you're walking around the woods, and you hear a tv in a broken house, you walk in, tune the TV, and it plays the trailer.
Like a few others im just over this now, I kinda feel bad for them and also kinda dont. Hopefully if the actual game ever whatever it is sees a release it will be good. The whole heres a mysterious app that plays "live trailers" is massively suspicious though, is it a cheap marketing trick or something more.
I'm definitely interested to check out the trailer purely from a technical standpoint - never seen that approach before and I'm intrigued to see how it all works. But as for the game itself, who knows. I hope it's good, but I really don't think the Kojima/Silent Hill theories have any credibility whatsoever.
I dont understand why we need an app and the trailer isnt just dropped on the Playstation YouTube account.
I'm still baffled at this trailer app thing. It's so strange but hopefully when this releases we will actually know what the heck it is definitively. If this app releases and we still know essentially nothing new about this game...let's just say the online discussion will be uglier than ever. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
More than meets the eye for sure.
I'm not downloading an app to view a trailer in real-time. I assume it's just raw unedited capture footage of the guy playing the game. I'll wait to see if there's anything more to it before I do that.
So the "letter of intent" thing with M$/XB,& the Bloober/Konami partnerships are all ruses to throw us off the scent,I knew it!🤔😂 (Quietly grabs chair, a pack of potato chips & beer!)😋
Could be the biggest marketing success or disaster ahead for this studio.
This is just getting kinda embarrassing for everyone involved.
Regardless of what Abandoned ends up being (which I remain firmly in the Kojima Ruse Cruise, personally until proven otherwise… which is essentially post-release worst case scenario lol), I can’t wait to know finally what we have here!
I'm going to laugh out loud if there's a State of Play in August and they give one of those developer narrated game spotlights to Hasan.
I don't care anymore, these shenanigans went on for waaaaay too long.
If it's something mind-blowing guess I'll be surprised when it comes out, if it's an indie-dev, well.....good luck dudes, you're going to need it.
@lolwhatno Them revealing what we've seen so far was all fake footage and not representative of the game was a real kicker. They basically threw Sony under the bus there. Even if it's not linked in any shape to Kojima it still looked interesting (a change from the 'PT inspired' influx of horror games we've had the last few years).
I'm still curious to see how this turns out as I love horror games. But yeah, not exactly hyped for something I have no clue about yet.
This whole thing has been needlessly, needlessly confusing. I feel really bad for the team that's making this. Whoever is running marketing for them dropped the ball to the extreme.
@Lyonjak it’s def something big.
Bored of this game now, after all they hype they initially drummed up. If this isn't a Silent Hill game, I really fear for the developers going onwards
If this turns out to be a dud, this game developer is toast. They don't seem to understand that insulting gamers isn't the best business model.
The need for an app to view a trailer is confusing. The mention of "real-time in-engine" made me think the ps5 has an app to allow it to load the actual game engine to render the trailer. Like a non/limited-interactive demo. Or is this trailer just a streamed video?
I'm sick of reading about this Abandoned game, please do abandon discussing it.
Like everyone else I'm sick of the game and we haven't actually seen anything really, if this isn't some elaborate fake out I think the developers are in for a world of trouble.
I know there's being rumours that Sony planned for a bigger July SoP but due to Call of Duty's big reveal being held back (their own stream was meant to follow Sony's) so Sony are doing one in August too. If Abandoned has anything directly to do with Sony then it would make sense but the pressure is on this game to bring any kind of hype back.
Is this not a “playable trailer”? Seems stupid to release video trailers in its own app id there’s no real-time element to them. Are we sure it’s not a proper engine demo?
I don't care anymore Sorry but I am not going to believe anything about this game. Any dates etc etc :-/ After last time them promising a date I don't want to think about it. Goodbye
A “trailer app”. Yuh…
No thanks, I will just wait for the first proper/official trailer.
There is way too much fishiness for this to be some rando developer making a Sony backed game. Using stock assets to make the trailer...stock photos of employees on LinkedIn. lol okkkk
