Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Trophy List Has Another Achievable Platinum

Shmoo

Not as straight forward as it sounds. “ finding all the Spells, Miracles, and Rings in the game” will require different world tendencies to be met, hidden npcs and storylines need to be followed, and a commitment to most likely do 2.5 playthoughs.

I’d say it’s a fairly realistic goal for anyone who’s willing to play through with a guide open learning the in’s and out’s of the game while overcoming the difficulty spike that comes with NG+.

Believe me I platinumed Dark Souls and Bloodborne; think I’m missing 1 on Demon’s Souls. I wouldn’t say they’re fairly realistic for 90% of players 🤷

Re: Sony: PS5 Launch Will Be Online Only, No Consoles Will Be Sold in Shops

Shmoo

I just talked to Walmart about this the other day and they said “check your email to see when your console has arrived; come and pick it up then.”

So yeah they definitely don’t want lines of people out front starting at 8 a.m. People are antsy though I’m sure some will still show up on the 12th at opening to check if it’s in.

Also I work 1-10 and my Walmart closes at 10 😶 hopefully they get it early!

Re: How to Use the PS5 DualSense Controller on PC

Shmoo

I can confirm that even if you set it up in this manner it is NOT guaranteed to work properly for every game. I got it to work perfectly well with DooM: Eternal however Dark Souls 3 had issues with R2 and the haptic rumble not working. Those were the only inputs that would not work in that game.

I also suggest when you set it up on steam you enter big picture mode first. The set up itself automatically goes to big picture mode and it becomes really wonky if that window is in big picture mode and the normal Steam window is not.

Also when the author says “The final step is to enable "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support" I think he’s saying you have to right click the game in your library and go to properties to “force” the game to accept a controller, otherwise it’ll auto default to M&KB when you try to play.

Anyways it’s a great controller. I’ve always favored Xbox controllers over PS but this might change the tide on that 😎🕹

Re: Part of the PS5 Controller Is Very Easily Removable

Shmoo

Got mine today and I’m really enjoying the overall quality of it. It has to function as a basic game pad through Steam so I haven’t been able to full test all of its features; it feels great to use though and is for sure a step above the PS4/XB1 controllers. Can’t believe Microsoft still uses AA batteries for it’a controllers. Kills me thinking about that lol

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev 'Not Comfortable, but Confident' in December Release Date

Shmoo

If there's one positive for me coming out of these delays it's that it is refreshing to see the community is pretty much entirely in agreement for once.

The "rushed game is forever bad" mantra doesn't exactly mean much when you've had 3 delays in 6 months and the company themselves keeps putting these arbitrary release dates in.

It'd be great to hear exactly what the hold up is, not through rumor, and if the release date becomes "Q1 2021 we'll let you know when it's actually gone gold" then so be it. I would embrace that approach over what they're doing now.

Re: Best PS4 Horror Games

Shmoo

Still have PT installed after all these years. I remember my best friend and I stayed up until like 2 a.m. to try and beat it. Got the s*** scared out of us the first time we died. I just realized I was in college when that released so it must have been 2015 or early 2016.

Re: PS5 Custom Faceplates Are Already Available to Pre-Order

Shmoo

They do look great but I have no problem with waiting for reviews on them; also for some info from Sony, or a developer, on if they plan to release official ones. I want to know if these off-brand ones snap to the console in a satisfying way and how the finish is on them.

The red looks great though and if there's no word from Sony by mid January i'll definitely look into them!

Re: Spider-Cat Is the Reason to Buy Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Shmoo

@Jaz007

wow you and I have a very similar thought process. I have the Spider-man GOTY edition ready to go for PS5 and will most likely wait to get SM: MM at a later date. The whole $70 limited edition for a remaster was just too anti-consumer for me to ignore; it was EA in it's heyday level of scummy.

Re: Bloodborne Fan Makes 60 Frames-Per-Second Patch, Hopes Sony Releases PS5 Update

Shmoo

@Arnna

I think this is more or less an updated version of that article since the creator of the mod came out this weekend and said he would release the "patch" to the public if Sony themselves did not.

And I am definitely on the wagon of no more remasters, remakes are ok for older games, but if Sony does choose to "remaster" this PLEASE make it an easy entry point on price. Tacking it on to another game and charging $20 won't sit well with anyone (although I thought more people would've said the same about SM PS4 which is even younger than BB).

Re: Rockstar Acquires Ruffian Games, Rebrands Rockstar Dundee

I'm still pretty disappointed RDR2 never saw something like the "Undead Nightmare" RDR1 got. Undead Nightmare was one of my favorite experiences on the X360.

Hunting down Bigfoot and el chupacabra while taming a unicorn (with loads of zombies to boot)? Yes please.

Actually DLC in general was great around that time. Far Cry: Blood Dragon was also awesome as was the "Artorias of the Abyss" DLC for Dark Souls.

Good times.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Promotes 'Great' PS5 Support at Launch

Shmoo

It's gonna be a crazy launch lol. Demon's Souls and Black Ops for the first week, CP2077 the next week, not to mention the ridiculous amount of PS4 games I've amassed over the past 5 months to play on PS5. I feel like the library I'll have to start this launch will last me easily for over a year.

I'm hoping FFXVI and RE: Village release in 2021 as well as PSVR2 but we'll see!

Re: Western Digital Reveals First PS5 Compatible SSD

Shmoo

Luckily the 7-8 games I'll have installed for the first year or so won't take up the entire 664 GB of usable space. Hopefully.

Actually now that I think about it I better make a list of install sizes to be better prepared. You know what I'll just hold off on this post and get back with all the sizes (in order of importance to me):

Demon's Souls - 66 GB
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ~ 100 GB
Cyberpunk 2077 - 70 GB
God of War - 44 GB
Spiderman (PS4) - 51 GB
Until Dawn - 15 GB (read varying numbers)
Borderlands 3 - 38 GB
Horizon Zero Dawn - 48 GB

total = 432

So plenty of rooms for all the games I plan on playing in the first year or so. I'm sure there will be plenty of others I get but it looks like I'll still have a couple hundred gigs to work with before I have to upgrade!

Re: PS5 Teardown Video Gets Up Close and Personal with the Console

Shmoo

That'd be so sweet to see faceplates in the style of the "clear" plastic that was used for some N64 and GBA models. Seeing a purple or seafoam-green version of those faceplates would really knock my socks off!

or a matte grey style faceplate like the PSX/1 had. with the old logo of course

Re: New PS5 Features Discovered in PS Store's Source Code

Shmoo

@LiamCroft

I agree. Criticism has it's place in some articles comments sections but certainly not EVERY article that relates to Sony. Non-stop bashing has driven me away from other sites in the past...

Anyways here's hoping we get a full blown preview next week similar to what the XSX got this week.

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Details Digital Deluxe Edition

Shmoo

@get2sammyb

This is not normal for this series. No deluxe or digital edition has ever given the player armor/weapons/souls. I'm not sure a one size fits all attitude is the right approach for Sony.

Also the "if you don't want it don't buy it" argument doesn't work well for pay-to-win items. Maybe that's ok for cosmetics, but not for items that give an obvious advantage to players who buy them.

I'm still getting this game because it looks great, but man Sony is engaging in some bad practices lately.
