Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta?

Shmoo

I bought World on PC when it launched in August 2018. That PC had parts from 2016/2017.

The PC launch version of World felt and looked much better than the beta I played last week. There’s really no excuse for a downgrade 6 years later on a console that’s much more powerful than what I had back then.

My hope is people who are interested in MH discover Rise after playing that beta and decide to give it a try. It’d be nice for that game to get a stronger community ahead of the Switch 2 launch.

8 is a really fair score. The multiplayer maps are pretty rough and are all way too fast-paced, besides Red Card which is an absolute slog and should be removed from the rotation.

The two zombies maps have been great to switch to from time to time to level/weapon boost. I just hit Prestige 1 level 41 today and it feels like Zombies solo is by far the fastest way to level.

For sure looking forward to Season 1 coming and hopefully some more balanced traditional 3 lane maps.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta?

Shmoo

Played for about an hour and yeah, it feels like an extension of World and not a step up. Had fun hunting the Alpha Doshaguma but man there’s way too much going on on-screen at any given time with all the pop ups and environmental objects you can click on and use. Not to mention the NPCs talking to you nonstop.

I’ll take the art style, rock solid performance, and gameplay of Rise + Sunbreak any day.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Beta Is Prompting Fans to Reconsider PS5 Pro

Shmoo

Deleted my previous comment and came back to say this article is not right. Downloaded the Beta and played through the first hunt.

The game looks and runs great.

Set it to performance mode, with 120fps enabled, and turned on the motion sickness settings and I’m having no problems with performance or fidelity.

I usually cringe at this comment but maybe we’re not playing the same game 🤷

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

Shmoo

I thought it was really good of Sony to refund Switchback VR for me because it was giving me such terrible motion sickness. I had to call in to get the refund but I appreciate them breaking their own policy in this case.

I forced myself through the first level and practically threw up. Not only did I get motion sick while playing, I felt motion sickness for almost 2 hours after I stopped, something I haven’t experienced before. Even turning the camera in World of Warcraft was making me sick.

Re: What Time Is PlayStation's State of Play?

Anything first-party PSVR2 related would be very welcome. Mine has sadly been collecting dust for the better part of the past 2 years.

Also it’s always the pipe dream but Bloodborne or Resistance would be awesome to see.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

Shmoo

Not sure about the rest of the world, but here in Arizona we have a %10 sales tax. So the $700 console, $80 disc drive, and $25 stand actually make this a $900 console when all is said and done.

Last Cyber Monday I bought an ASUS TUF A1 4070 laptop for $900 at Best Buy. That purchase becomes more of a steal by the day.

@pip_muzz

Can’t believe in almost 100 comments no ones pointed this out, but there is no “upgrade path” for Spiderman PS4 on PS5.

You can buy the MM ultimate edition which was $70 at launch (sorry I live in the U.S. and don’t know conversion to £) and that’s it. There’s no way for people who own the game for PS4 to upgrade their version. No matter what way people want to spin it even if you own the PS4 version of the game you have to shell out what is now $50 to get the upgraded version.

Still baffled we have this many comments and no one pointed that out 😅

Re: Crash Trilogy, Tony Hawk Remake Dev Now Officially Merged with Blizzard

Shmoo

The initial reactions on this site are such a cringey echo chamber sometimes it’s embarrassing 🤦‍♂️ I’ll never forget the Elden Ring reveal where a large amount of people here said it would be DOA because it looked like Dark Souls 3.

Blizzard has 55 games/expansions they’ve released over the years on Metacritic and of those 55 only 5 have “mixed” reactions. Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, Blizzard’s new IP, WoW: Classic WotLK are all going to be massive successes in the coming years; not to mention Hearthstone is still very popular.

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo (PS5) - Not the Bethesda Swansong We Hoped For

Shmoo

Well sadly I just lent my PS5 to my brother until at least November, so it would be a while before I was able to play this anyways. Oh well.

And what’s up with the weird Bethesda sucks comments? Since when do 2 games make a trend? Fallout 76 and Ghostwire Tokyo are different developers, and neither are indicative of Bethesda as a whole going downhill. DooM, DooM Eternal, Wolfenstein, Deathloop, and Fallout 4 all got massive praise. Heck even Dishonored 2 and Prey were decently liked. Let’s not start pretending like Bethesda is the new EA or something because they’ve had a couple of lackluster games recently.
