Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Less Excited for Deathloop on PS5 Than I Should Be

Sakisa

The whole situation around this game is exactly what happens when two companies go out of their way to keep a third party game away from a competing platform, only for each of them to succeed in a way, and the game and devs potentially pay the price for that.

We’ll see I guess, I’ll be playing this one on Game pass in a year.

@feral1975 I told you active ways they made it better and they aren't holding anyone back from playing it on different platforms. Only thing that changed really is it's going to gamepass and might look a bit better on an Xbox. There's really no hypothetical that leaves Sony players out and if anything you're the one that looks like you're rushing to villify Microsoft on this. The game was targeting PS4 and Xbox One to begin with.

@feral1975 Did you know without MS backing Double Fine the game would've cut boss battles and wouldn't have had access to consulting actual psychiatrists that know about the various mental disorders that'll be in Psychonauts 2? And that it's still coming to Playstation regardless?

Microsoft literally made the game better and no promised platforms are getting left behind. That isn't anti-consumer.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Sakisa

As a consumer with a Series X yeah...gamepass was a large part of the reason I got it simply as someone on a budget right now.

I intend to get a PS5 probably around the time Spider-Man 2 drops and by then i'm hoping some early games like Ratchet and Returnal will be cheaper. I think ultimately PS5 and Sony will thrive with or without a gamepass answer though, so it isn't really that big a thorn I think. The numbers more than show that.

As for the Xbox show, Psychonauts 2 and Outer Worlds 2 existing were my highlights.

@Justin113 Except that abandoning a user base as soon as the new hardware is out, for not even a year is a ***** and selfish thing to advocate for which is exactly what you’re doing.

I fully plan to get a PS5, as do many people, but the reality is that isn’t easy and Sony isn’t going to just stop supporting the PS4 until a few years after the PS5 is out, and wanting them to do that is unrealistic to how console cycles have basically always gone. You can keep lamenting these games being held back all you want, but I somehow doubt they’ll be affected quality wise by this considering how good their PS4 counterparts were.

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Losing Ground to Xbox?

Sakisa

Xbox is gaining ground, Sony isn't really losing ground. They both are offering something different upfront anyway. Some find the subscription model and backwards compatability Xbox offers appealing, others are more interested in Sony's strong first party output.

I plan to own a PS5 within a few years and I love my Series X, I really want to play Ratchet and the next proper Spider-Man game, as well as God of War Ragnarok, and know that if I plan to continue playing fighting games, PS5 is where to be.

At the same time, one of my most anticipated games this year with Psychonauts 2 is hitting gamepass day one and gamepass plus quick resume has really made the way I play games really dang convenient. Been flitting between Yakuza games, Octopath Traveller, and Prey and having a good time.

I think both provide something of tremendous value catered to different audiences with some overlap in people interested in both.

Re: Future Bethesda Games Will Ship 'Where Game Pass Exists'

Sakisa

Companies aren't your friend, etc, etc.

I own a Series X but not a PS5. Plan to get a PS5 down the line when games drop in price like Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man 2 is a real thing, but that's not now. A lot of that is due to where i'm at financially with gamepass vs $70 games, interest wise with most of what I care about right now being multiplat anyway, and where my friends play, I have no dog in the race when it comes to Bethesda basically outside of DOOM and funnily enough...Ghostwire.

Microsoft is going to start being a lot more hardline in trying to compete with Sony, and I doubt Bethesda is the last of Microsoft's moves either so best to just get used to it I guess, I won't hold it against them any more than I hold it against Sony making a deal for something like Final Fantasy, and Sony definitely won't rest on their laurels in acquiring their own big exclusive offerings. Just the nature of the business.
