Dragon Quest and One Piece are two of my favorite series in all of media full stop and the demo was incredible. Can’t wait to play what seems to be an authentic One Piece adventure this Friday!
Will probably happen, which is a shame because the only games worth a damn that Square Enix are putting out these days are Switch games. Would be a slap in the face to Nintendo.
It has been about 18 years since the last good Naughty Dog game, and doubling down on trying to be a tv drama in game form will just keep taking them in the wrong direction. Whatevs though, they’ve been a lost cause for years.
Certainly one of my top games this year, but yeah, it sure is divisive.
Still, this is a step up on the Push Square articles that went out of their way to blindly clown on this game even when impressions were becoming more positive.
Yeah, if even the basic design of Luffy seems too goofy or weird to you then maybe stay clear of One Piece. He’s the tamest design compared to a lot of other characters…and even then, recent manga revelations have Luffy getting waaay more goofy and the series constantly doubles down on rule of funny over rule of cool.
Which I appreciate, too many Jujutsu Kaisen’s and Demon Slayer’s out there with next to no fun character designs.
Solid top 5. The big marquee PS exclusives are hit and miss for me too and God of War is a definitive miss for me, but props for shouting out Sifu and Sonic Frontiers. Those are among my top games this year too, and you make me curious to check out Neon White.
@EquiinoxGII I disagree, at least for now. I want 2 to focus on symbiote shenanigans as thoroughly as possible, including it corrupting Peter at some point and with Harry probably being Venom and the symbiote is tied to Oscorp right now, maybe we get a possible 11th hour villain in Green Goblin.
I do hope the Insomniac Spider-Man series does do Spiderverse shenanigans for a third game though.
My most hyped movie next year, and Spider-Man 2 is my most anticipated PS5 game and overall second most anticipated spider themed game next year. Looking forward to both immensely!
I hope it addresses some of the growing pains that would obviously come with the Dahnans and Renans coexisting as a single society as equals after the Renans oppressed and enslaved the Dahnans for hundreds of years. The main game kinda...didn't touch on that at the end, and it's not a plot thread I think should've been left dangling.
Great game though, probably my favorite Tales Of, would be down to play a big expansion or even sequel.
Definitely on my list of games to play, but it’ll have to wait until after I finish One Piece Odyssey, and by the time that happens Like A Dragon Ishin will probably be out. Sandwiching it between what are personally the two biggest early 2023 games isn’t the best timing…at least for me.
But SMT should really get the multiplatform treatment next. Though I expect it to be relegated to the sidelines even more for the watered down younger sibling that is Persona with this news.
And stop trying to apply the Persona style to stuff like Soul Hackers while you're at it.
Wherever the chips may fall, I feel like there will be some real bitter feelings between Sony and Microsoft. Way more than there was at the start of this generation.
If this deal doesn't go through, I could also see Microsoft gunning for someone like SEGA/Atlus or Capcom and making a lot of their libraries exclusive in retaliation.
If this doesn’t go through and predator protecting Bobby gets to remain in a position of power because Sony fought tooth and nail to keep the status quo…
I think I’m unplugging from this story for my own sanity at this point. Let the companies degrade themselves in their custody battle for timed exclusive COD trinkets, I just want Crash, Tony Hawk and Spyro to come out of this okay. And Devil boy Bobby to lose his job.
He had a pretty small role all things considered in the first game, so it isn't a huge shift imo.
Still, kind of a bummer all the same for Scott Porter.
It's weird how game to game with Spider-Man we seem to be getting tiny little retcons already, considering it's only 1 and a half games into its life right now.
Marvin is the exact character to bring me back for a bit at least. Any Looney Tune or Cartoon Network character circa 1998-2004 is also likely to bring me back so fingers crossed for Samurai Jack and Courage.
@CapGod Fair enough, I may have been overly aggressive in my posts.
But I do have a passion for a lot of SEGA's back catalog and how they've payed respects to it on a lower budget. I'm genuinely Sorry if i've come across as a jerk. I have a lot of passion for SEGA and their IPs in general.
@CapGod I’m aware a lot of indie games are trash. A lot of games in general are trash.
You know what isn’t trash? Streets of Rage 4. Monster Boy in the Cursed Kingdom. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. All games you implicitly said didn’t matter with saying SEGA is only Like A Dragon and worse SMT.
Besides, Hollow Knight is indie and is better than any AAA game in the last decade.
@nomither6 It isn’t, but there’s enough of an audience for them that saying SEGA’s contributions to that space don’t count, and only their ‘blockbusters’ do is pretty closed minded and ignorant. Same for their AA output.
They’re more than Like A Dragon and SMTs more shallow visual novel offspring.
@CapGod Triple A blockbuster is not always ‘for the win’. For the most part they’re more bloated and bland than smaller, tighter games by my estimation.
Only thing I care about from Capcom is Resident Evil right now. At least until Dragon’s Dogma 2 or they get off their asses and make a new Mega Man. SEGA meanwhile has Like A Dragon (finally got rid of the garbage Yakuza name and won’t acknowledge it as such anymore), Puyo Puyo, Monster Boy/Wonder Boy, Valkyria Chronicles 4, SMT (and Persona I guess) last year’s Monkey Ball remasters, and Streets of Rage 4, all of which sold and reviewed well. Maybe you like to be reductive and write off indies and smaller games, but don’t claim to speak for the ‘majority’ when you knock that stuff or say blockbusters or nothing.
@CapGod Well that’s a reductive take on a developer making way better stuff than most devs these days. I’d say they’re making more cool games than Capcom right now.

@Gremio108 same for me, can’t wait to finally play it this year

Re: One Piece Odyssey PS5, PS4 Demo Is Available Now
Already in on the full version, One Piece is the best shonen manga out there and love me a polished looking turn based RPG.
Can’t wait to dive into the demo after work though!
Re: One Piece Odyssey PS5, PS4 Trophies Will Make You Grind for that Platinum
If I engage with this content it won’t be for the achievements/trophies, it’ll be because it’s One Piece content I want to consume.
Hoping it’s a good time.

Re: Game of the Year: Brett's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
Respectable list, glad to see someone mention KoF.
Don’t think I’d put Sonic Frontiers at 1, but it’s in my top 10 of the year as well.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Brook is in the game. It’s Jimbei who’s missing, and I agree he should be here.

It looks like a treat for One Piece fans, considering the best we’ve gotten lately are the Warriors games. One of my most anticipated games next year!
Also to those asking. You don’t watch One Piece, you read One Piece.

Re: Feature: Predict The Game Awards 2022 With Our Ridiculous 20 Question Quiz
The real reason to pay attention to TGAs right now isn’t GOTY, or what gets announced or whatever.
It’s Genshin Impact vs Sonic in the players choice section.
Re: The Game Awards Will Be a Shorter Show, But Not by Much
Sorry Geoff, but no way in hell the main event of the Game Awards will live up to the spectacle of the pre-show
All out war between the Sonic fanbase and the Genshin Impact fanbase.

Already pre-ordered it digitally so this is fine with me.

Re: Yakuza's Addictive Cabaret Club Will Return in Like a Dragon Gaiden on PS5, PS4
Please don't lock a cool combat style behind it.
Like...it's a neat minigame, but it's a pretty involved and time consuming one.

@EVIL-C With you there. Jim Ryan is a detriment to Playstation more than he is a help.

Seems the usual sheep that’ll bash a Sonic game blindly no matter what, despite having never played it are alive and well in this comment section.

Gonna say it.
Still the best One Piece arc to this day.

Oh nice! Love the Marauder armor.
Playing through this game now so it's good timing for me at least.

Good games, Going Commando is probably my second favorite game in the series still.

Re: Hold On, PS5 Just Outsold Switch in Japan

Am I mad that VR gives me debilitating headaches? A little I guess.
Does it mean I don’t need to be invested in the latest Sony controversy though and just enjoy the fireworks? Sure does! What a comment section.
