We already know Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be utilising the PlayStation 5’s lightning fast SSD to whisk you from world to world, but how else is the title leveraging the unique features of Sony’s next-gen format? As part of a new developer video uploaded to YouTube, director Marcus Smith adds a little insight into the DualSense controller and 3D audio.
Speaking about the PS5 controller, Smith describes it as “tailor-made” for the popular franchise: “The amount of tactile feedback that you get when you’re using weapons is… It makes them feel way more powerful and it also lets you know how the weapon is behaving.” According to the developer, the Enforcer shotgun is a great example of this.
“As you’re moving your finger down halfway, you can fire one barrel, if you pull it all the way down, you can fire both barrels, but all along the way you can feel the difference between the tension tightening up and it just makes all of our weapons much more immersive [and] powerful feeling,” he continued.
And there’s 3D audio, of course. “This really is a fundamental experience between listening to a television set and going out into the middle of a forest,” Smith said. “It brings you into these worlds in a way that we’ve never been able to do before.” Exciting stuff, right? We can’t wait to experience all of these features in unison when the title launches.

I’ll need to turn off the rumble due to tendinitis in my right arm, but really excited for the 3D audio
I was never a fan of this, but I liked everything I saw from this reveal. It looks really cool and clean.
I’m thinking this and GT7 will be my first next gen games. Can’t wait!
“This really is a fundamental experience between listening to a television set and going out into the middle of a forest,”
Woooooah there horsey. I never knew the PS5 was so ginormous you have to set it up in a forest!!
Ratchet and clank the legends. Man im going to miss the light bar .i l💖ve it onmy ps4.word up son
I was a little shocked after seeing the reveal. I have never seen this before and i didn't even think it was possible outside of cgi.
The ps5 in the right hands is a game changer.
@Number09 how could this remind you of Adam & Paul?
There is someone called "Clank" in Adam & Paul him and Zippy take them for a drive.......................The reason Ratchet and Clank reminds me of Adam & Paul is because I never hear Clank anywhere else except Ratchet & Clank and when I hear Clank I am reminded of 1 of the best Films ever made that's how this reminds me of Adam & Paul. The Garage too that's another 1.
First thing, I'll switch off feedback.
I'm still thoroughly unimpressed with PS5 (and XboxX) but if/when I do eventually get this system, this game will be among the first titles I pick up. Despite my initial dislike of the new look, the more I see of it, the more it has won me over.
I can't wait to use the new controller, it seems like it will makes games much more immersive
@SamwiseTargee well they said the same about the amazing touchpad and lightbar of the DS4 so my expectations are modest
