Update []: Given just how popular it's proven to be, it'll come as no surprise whatsoever to learn that Crimson Desert is our official Game of the Month for March 2026.
The open world fantasy adventure has taken the actual world by storm, selling over four million copies and racking up a ridiculous amount of interest since its launch late last month. In truth, it didn't have a whole lot of competition in our poll.
Speaking of which, over 930 votes were cast across a selection of 16 quality PS5 titles.

For reference, here are the top five best PS5 games of March 2026, according to readers of Push Square:
- Crimson Desert - 437 votes (47%)
- Marathon - 165 votes (18%)
- Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection - 74 votes (8%)
- South of Midnight - 48 votes (5%)
- Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake - 42 votes (5%)
Crimson Desert obviously had a lot of hype leading up to its launch, and many questioned whether it would live up to expectations. Indeed, the project always looked insanely ambitious across its various gameplay demonstrations.
But to be fair to developer Pearl Abyss, the seemingly never-ending tale of stoic sword-for-hire Kliff has properly taken over the lives of invested players. This is a game that you can get utterly lost in for hours, days, even weeks at a time.
While our own Crimson Desert PS5 review wasn't especially positive — we settled on a 6/10 score — we did stress that the title "has the potential to be something truly special".
Mainly, we wrote that the game's performance — particularly on base PS5 — held it back. We also highlighted its severe lack of quality of life design.
In just a few short days from the publishing of that review, though, Pearl Abyss has been delivering major updates that have included many meaningful improvements. A re-review is probably on the cards down the line...
