Reddit in particular is really bad for this. I've stopped visiting r/games as it's full of people patting each other on the back with constant spirals of confirmation bias.

I'm a big JRPG fan but have somehow never played a Tales game. Would this be a good jumping on point in your opinion?

It's the biggest SIE launch in Japan this generation. Anyone suggesting this is evidence of a flop is coping real hard.

@somnambulance Your comment has just made me stop and think about how many games I'm actually playing through PS Extra. I have a few installed but I own my current rotation. I don't play games online so I'm literally paying for nothing.

I think I might use the rest of my current sub to play through The Last of Us Part 1 and hit that cancel button. Subscription services really are out of control.

The market is going to force people back into buying games when on sale. Something has to give. Prices are through the roof for food let alone gaming. I feel like we are going to hit the tipping point soon. Greedy corporations doing what they do best.

I've just had my physical copy delivered. I'm playing Silksong and Metaphor at the moment though so saving it until I finish them.

People shouldn't sleep on Bomb Rush. I got the platinum for it. Enjoyed it way more than I expected.

I loved The Impossible Lair but never played the first after hearing negative things. Excited to give this demo a blast.

I played the base game on Xbox so will wait for a game of the year edition with all dlc included to buy it on Playstation. Fantastic game though.

Its a great month. Anyone that thinks it isn't has unrealistic expectations.

@QiaraIris Hollow Knight has sold 15 millions copies. That's nearly as many as the Metroid franchise combined.

I realise it's cool to hate on Silksong these days but what you are saying makes no sense. Im not the biggest HK fan (thought it was decent) but there is no denying its appeal. Silksong is going to sell gangbusters.

Thanks for the list. I've just picked up The Messenger for 3 quid. I played it on Switch when it was released but fancy another playthrough. Going to go for the platinum.

Ps Extra has been fantastic this month. Today I have downloaded Unicorn Overlord, Harold Halibut, Indika, Prince of Persia and Sword of the Sea. Not bad for a tenner.

@themightyant Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. That clears it up. Crazy figures considering thier live service push has been considered largely unsuccessful.

@rjejr I think you are right. The 40% figure includes (and is likely largely made up of) the 30% cut Sony receive as part of the MTX sales of the live service behemoths (Fortnite, Genshin, Overwatch. Etc).

Im not sure if Sony are trying to suggest all this revenue is from THEIR games or whether I am misunderstanding the quotes. Either way it isn't very clear.

@themightyant Im confused by this breakdown. Surely the 31% you have stated includes any revenue received from third party live services (Fortnite, Genshin. Etc). If it doesn't then what category do these fall under?

In another thread it is claimed that 40% of Sonys revenue is coming from their 4 live service titles. Don't these figures seem to contradict this?

This is a genuine question as I'm not sure whether I am just being dense....

@sanderson72 There will always be a market for physical ethusiasts, just like there still is for 4k/ bluray. The CD drive will be an optional extra going forward.

@Hylian-Likely You should really go back if difficulty was the issue. High rank Zoh Shia, tempered gore, tempered seregios and tempered lagiacrus all put up a good fight.

I played it at EGX in 2019. Insane to think its taken this long.

@VaultGuy415 Have you tried update 2? Both new monsters are significantly more challenging. The tempered versions are on par with 8 star gore. I actually find one of them quite a bit harder.

@lazarus11 I play it at 60fps on the pro. Looks great to me. A few dodgy textures here and there but that's about it. Performance is buttery smooth.

@RagnarLothbrok Yeah. I've had numerous assists as a goalkeeper and that trophy hasn't popped. Ill have to take your word for it as none of my mates play it. Fun with randos anyway though.

I am currently obsessed with Rematch.

Its a great game with a very good single player campaign. Absolutely worth a playthrough (as is the expansion). Another one of those games people enjoy to hate on.

You can make all the economic arguments that you want. Plenty are valid and make sense. The point at which I start to lose tolerance for said arguments is when Sony posts record profits year after year. That's how economics/ capitalism works but only because we as consumers allow it.

@Anya-chan It almost certainly will be. Iceborne was announced about 8 months after World launch. Sunbreak was announced 6 months after Rise launch. I reckon we get the announcement in Oct/Nov.

I didn't know Seregios was coming as well. That's made my day. Easily one of my favourite monsters.

@Ultros It wasn't laziness though was it? The director said he wanted to release something as close to the original vision as possible. SE have form with this - they did the same thing with the FF pixel remasters.

Its an odd decision to be sure, but I don't think it comes down to laziness. Im personally thankful that we are getting a version of this game on modern platforms with some nice Qol features, but disappointed it won't have the WotL extra jobs.

@Cakefish We are already playing Xbox published games on our Playstations. Console and PC are becoming less of a closed off eco system. That can only be good for everyone.

@Cikajovazmaj You and lots of others. The simplicity of the console model is what keeps it popular. Plug and play is very appealing to the mainstream audience and will never go away because of it. Just last week we have seen the Switch 2 break all launch records.

I've been reading about the death of console for the last 15 years or so and they are more popular than ever. I own a gaming PC but it gets very little use these days. PS5 Pro on my big telly with a can of Pepsi Max in my hand is my jam. As I get older and my free time starts to dwindle I love the simplicity of console gaming.

If 3 million units in a week is an underperformance then there is something seriously wrong with the industry.

@Simu001 I would love a remaster of GTA IV. It is criminally (hah) underrated and I think a big reason for that is beacause it is stuck in PS3/ 360 jail on consoles.

@guardianoftime No one knows what this is yet. It could be a ps4 patch, ps5 patch, PS5 native version, or something else entirely.

@Ravix The block chain association explains the weird defenders. Imagine the fit people would be having if Ubisoft shat this one out.

@47Levi what difference does that make? Its a standalone game being sold at £54.99. If it is a tech demo then that price point is taking the piss.

As someone that thinks the Tony Hawk franchise started going down hill with 4 I'm looking forward to playing it with the classic 2 minute formula.

@RainbowGazelle If that's enough for you to stop buying their products then fair enough. Its your money and you should do what you want with it. I bought and played Persona 3 remake and had a great time.
