Re: Game of the Year: #9 - The Last of Us: Part I

@LiamCroft Haha, that's pretty funny.

I actually think this comment section has been quite civil compared to those at the time of release. It's more of a debate on the validity of remakes/ remasters on Game of the Year lists. Seems like a fair enough point of debate regardless of which way you side.

Personally, I think the remake wasn't really needed but was welcome all the same. The amount of effort involved should make it eligible for these lists and Push Square's placement seems solid. I haven't played it yet but will when the price is right (around £30).

@Tigerhoodman You should turn the question marks off. They add very little value and clutter up the map. You'll miss nothing by not doing them. It's just a chest here and there with inconsequential loot (which you have usually outleveled).

Re: Sony Japan Unveils Mocopi, At-Home Motion Capture for the Metaverse

@theMEGAniggle I see what you are saying but the adoption rate for VR is still really low due to the huge barrier of entry (in both a monetary sense and a practical one). They can push it as much as they like but it's still too early.

Once VR/ AR becomes more affordable and is as easy as putting on a pair of specs the 'Metaverse' (god I despise that term) marketing will be in full swing.

Re: Sony Might Be Making a Horizon MMO, And It Could Come to Phones

@KundaliniRising333 Par for the course these days unfortunately. Capcom seems to have figured out that a sure fire way to make lots of money is to make games that people actually want.

The amount of companies that just follow trends and hope something sticks is verging on incompetence. From MMOs to MOBAs to Battle Royales, very few of them actually find success.

The amount of money wasted trying to chase the dragon of the live service infinite money pot must be eye watering.

Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More

Hilarious to see people defending this in the comments. Why do you feel the need to side with a billion-dollar corporation that couldn't give two ***** about you? All they want to do is extract all the money from your wallet.

The only way this will stop happening is if people stop taking it. Everything going up in price is not an excuse for this to happen - it's a reason for this to be avoided. Late stage capitalism is destroying the hobby a lot of us love, yet people are still queued up to defend these leeches.

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

HerlockSholmes

@naruball You're absolutely right. It can be both unnecessary and not a cash grab. They are not mutually exclusive.

That is exactly where I sit on this debate; it cannot be a cash grab due to the amount of effort which has clearly been put into it. However, it's an unnecessary remake as the original is not old enough to warrant it. The remastered version for PS4 still looks and plays great.

It would be a much more interesting proposition to me of it was priced at £40, rather than £70.

@PaperAlien We grew up with PAL versions because a lot of TVs had 50hz refresh rates.

The issue now is that pretty much all TVs run at 60hz (or 120hz) so there are frame pacing issues (the display image only refreshes 50 times on a 60hz screen). Some people are not sensitive to this, but others are.

In this day and age the NTSC versions are vastly superior because they run at the same refresh rate as modern TVs.
