I actually think this comment section has been quite civil compared to those at the time of release. It's more of a debate on the validity of remakes/ remasters on Game of the Year lists. Seems like a fair enough point of debate regardless of which way you side.
Personally, I think the remake wasn't really needed but was welcome all the same. The amount of effort involved should make it eligible for these lists and Push Square's placement seems solid. I haven't played it yet but will when the price is right (around £30).
I've been playing it in performance mode and it looks and runs beautifully. The storytelling and writing are best in class. The combat is serviceable but showing it's age.
@AdamNovice Because it's very difficult to actually think of any that have been any good. As a big Monster Hunter fan that garbage they produced last year is best forgotten.
This could turn out to be great. I hope it does, but history is very much stacked against it. The cynicism is warranted.
@Tigerhoodman You should turn the question marks off. They add very little value and clutter up the map. You'll miss nothing by not doing them. It's just a chest here and there with inconsequential loot (which you have usually outleveled).
That'll be me watching the trailers on YouTube the next day then. Don't have the time to waste on watching something that long with such little substance.
@theMEGAniggle I see what you are saying but the adoption rate for VR is still really low due to the huge barrier of entry (in both a monetary sense and a practical one). They can push it as much as they like but it's still too early.
Once VR/ AR becomes more affordable and is as easy as putting on a pair of specs the 'Metaverse' (god I despise that term) marketing will be in full swing.
@theMEGAniggle Eh. It's still too early. If it doesn't take off then they will drop it like a stone. How many companies are talking about NFTs these days 🤔
Pretty pants lineup. Not interested in paying a sub to access games that have been available for years. Once I finish Ghost of Tsushima (which is excellent) I'm gonna let my sub run out.
@KundaliniRising333 Par for the course these days unfortunately. Capcom seems to have figured out that a sure fire way to make lots of money is to make games that people actually want.
The amount of companies that just follow trends and hope something sticks is verging on incompetence. From MMOs to MOBAs to Battle Royales, very few of them actually find success.
The amount of money wasted trying to chase the dragon of the live service infinite money pot must be eye watering.
@TeapotBuddha Why? Graphics have hit a point of diminishing returns. Developers should be prioritising frame rate over fidelity. God of War Ragnarok is going to offer a 60fps mode. Does this game look good enough to have half the frame rate in comparison?
Twitter should not be taken as a means to gauge anything. Its a cesspit filled with people that have nothing better to do with their lives than be on Twitter all the time. Everything skews to the negative.
Please ignore all the 'stop picking on poor Sony' comments and continue to write these articles. Keep it in the news cycle so it isn't brushed under the rug and forgotten about. Its the only way anything will change in the long run.
Hilarious to see people defending this in the comments. Why do you feel the need to side with a billion-dollar corporation that couldn't give two ***** about you? All they want to do is extract all the money from your wallet.
The only way this will stop happening is if people stop taking it. Everything going up in price is not an excuse for this to happen - it's a reason for this to be avoided. Late stage capitalism is destroying the hobby a lot of us love, yet people are still queued up to defend these leeches.
@naruball You're absolutely right. It can be both unnecessary and not a cash grab. They are not mutually exclusive.
That is exactly where I sit on this debate; it cannot be a cash grab due to the amount of effort which has clearly been put into it. However, it's an unnecessary remake as the original is not old enough to warrant it. The remastered version for PS4 still looks and plays great.
It would be a much more interesting proposition to me of it was priced at £40, rather than £70.
Deleted my Social Media accounts years ago. Here, Nintendolife and PureXbox are the only places I interact with anyone on the internet. It's so much better that way. My mental health has increased significantly. Everything is reported on these sites/ in the news instantly anyway. You dont miss anything.
@The_Pixel_King Oh nice. Thanks for that. I think I made it to 3 cells before falling off due to difficulty. I will have a tinker with the new options.
@PaperAlien We grew up with PAL versions because a lot of TVs had 50hz refresh rates.
The issue now is that pretty much all TVs run at 60hz (or 120hz) so there are frame pacing issues (the display image only refreshes 50 times on a 60hz screen). Some people are not sensitive to this, but others are.
In this day and age the NTSC versions are vastly superior because they run at the same refresh rate as modern TVs.
@Eldritch Even if you aren't impressed with the end product, the skill and ingenuity on display to make something so small and have it not burst into flame instantly is impressive. The guy is a very skilled craftsman.
@ShogunRok Imagine trying to mass produce this....
That was a fantastic video. Really impressive stuff. The console looks gorgeous as well. Cheating slightly with the lower temps due to having the power supply outside of the system. But still, brilliant work.
@SuperPotato316 People are hoping the switch announcement is being saved for a Nintendo Direct. It's the type of daft thing I could totally see Nintendo doing... I hope it's true though. I mean, I'll play P4 on Playstation if needs be but it's really handy to have 100 hour RPGs in handheld form for me.
Why do people put so much stock in where they play their video games? So much so they feel it is appropriate to attack an individual doing a job. It's beyond pathetic. Clearly Phil Spencer lives in some of your heads rent-free.

Re: Elden Ring Dominates God of War Ragnarok in GOTY Awards, Breaks The Last of Us 2's Record
Best game since Balan Wonderworld. Shame it doesn't quite hit those lofty heights.
Re: Game of the Year: Annette's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
Never heard or Relayer but it looks really cool. As a SRPG fan it's one to add to the wish list.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year 2023 Edition
@JudgeDredd Happy Birthday! Hope you have a good one.
Still plugging away at The Witcher interspersed with Monster Hunter Rise. May start Tactics Ogre.
Re: Game of the Year: #4 - Trails from Zero
Awesome pick. Haven't played this yet but enjoyed the Sky trilogy. Will be picking this up on Switch at some point.
Re: Game of the Year: #9 - The Last of Us: Part I
@LiamCroft Haha, that's pretty funny.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Witcher 3 PS5 Version?
I've been playing it in performance mode and it looks and runs beautifully. The storytelling and writing are best in class. The combat is serviceable but showing it's age.
I'd give it a 9/10.
Re: Game of the Year: Stephen's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
Haven't got around to the big hitters yet so my list would be:
1. Pentiment
2. Tinykin
3. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Tunic
5. Citizen Sleeper

Re: Fast-Tracked Death Stranding Movie to Be an Authentic Hideo Kojima Production
Shows how little creativity is left in Hollywood these days when they keep having to poach video game IPs.
Re: Random: Crisis Core Remaster Somehow Uses a Watermarked Image Multiple Times
Wonder who owns the NFT of it.
Re: Sonic Frontiers Speeds Past 2.5 Million Sales in Its First Month
I shall add to those sales when/ if the price drops to £15 or lower.

Re: New PS Store Sale Live Now, Big PS5, PS4 Games Included
@Gamer_Guy Cult of the Lamb isn't on Game pass. Hopefully it will be someday. Two point Campus is though, and it is great.
Re: The Game Awards Will Be a Shorter Show, But Not by Much
@AndyKazama Nintendo Directs are short and snappy enough, but other than that, I agree. It's a shame. I used to love E3 week.

@Zuljaras You have great taste in games. Both are awesome. Enjoy.
I'm away this weekend but have my Switch to make more progress on Return to Monkey Island.
Re: Rumour: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at The Game Awards with Release Date
Who needs surprises? Between this and FFXVI I'd imagine that's two of their big hitters spoiled. Must be infuriating for devs/ event organisers
Re: eFootball's Festival of Football Adds National Teams Ahead of the World Cup
Oh how this series has fallen since the golden days of Pro Evo 3-5. It was brilliant back then.

A mobile MMO designed for the Korean audience sounds like nothing I want to be a part of.
Re: Rumour: Diablo 4 Unleashes Hell in April 2023
It's a sad indictment on modern gaming that I do not trust them to not monetize the ***** out of this.
Re: Shakespearean Remake Tactics Ogre: Reborn Sets the Stage for a Strategy Epic
@Shepherd_Tallon It's the daddy of tactics games and one of the best games ever made period. If you have an interest in the genre it's a must play.

Anyone that buys this for £70 deserves to be ripped off. To think Elden Ring launched at 50...

@LieutenantFatman You may as well wait a few years after that and get the 16k remake.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433
@The_Pixel_King I've been meaning to pick up Dead Cells again. What difference has the patch made in terms of progression?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433
Just beat Thunder Serpent Narwa in Monster Hunter Rise after moving to PC, so onwards to Sunbreak!
Also playing Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 and the ever present Stardew Valley on Switch.
