Sony Is Stamping Out One of PS Store's Most Prolific Shovelware Publishers 1

Sony has waged war on shovelware, and has thus far eliminated thousands of low-effort, low-quality games from PS Store.

Now, it seems potentially thousands more will be removed very soon.

Publisher Webnetic has announced its library of games will not be available on PlayStation in the coming days, though in its statement, it does say it'll be continuing business on other digital stores.

You probably haven't played any Webnetic games, but you'll have certainly seen them cropping up on PS Store. It's stuff like The Giraffe G, The Sheep Quiz, Tile Jong, and so many others — basically all the very definition of shovelware.

Anyway, it seems Sony is cutting out Webnetic's presence wholesale, which should make browsing the digital shelves on PS5 and PS4 a little more bearable.

As far as I can tell, the publisher has one of the largest libraries on PS Store, seemingly with around 1,200 games.

It's not clear exactly when these games are being taken off the PS Store — they're still there based on my searches — but the above post suggests it's a matter of days.

Obviously there will still be plenty of shovelware present on the storefront, but it appears Sony is committed to cracking down on some of the most egregious examples.
