Hogwarts Legacy PS5 PS4

Warner Bros has confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy has now sold more than 40 million units since its release in 2023.

The last reported sales update came in March 2025, when the game had surpassed 34 million copies sold. This means Hogwarts Legacy has shifted another six million units since then. The post confirming the sales milestone also notes how it's "based on full game sales on consoles and PC worldwide". This means any access from subscription services, such as PS Plus, isn't even included.

On the new update, the official Hogwarts Legacy social media account simply said: "Thank you to our Community for 40 Million Units sold!"

We know Avalanche Software is now working on a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, though it's unclear whether the news of Netflix's $82 billion acquisition of Warner Bros will affect things. Just over a year ago, a follow-up was described as one of the publisher's "biggest priorities" in the coming years. However, some additional content for the title was reportedly cancelled earlier this year, having never been made official.
